Waimarie offers two, one bedroom apartments surrounded by lush kentia palms less than 400m from your pick of pristine beaches. Our apartments are secluded and private, the perfect place for an intimate couples escape, yet close enough to share on a week away with friends.
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.

Another fantastic fortnight on Lord Howe Island spent at Waimarie - our fourth visit. Already blessed by its quieter location away from the 'town', and with great views from the deck to admire the mountains and watch the sunsets over the lagoon, Waimarie has been enhanced by the recent stylish and comfortable renovations. For 30 years we have stayed at other places on LHI but Waimarie has by far been the best. The beautiful one bedroom apartment in a quiet haven with a view to treasure is an absolute must. We almost hesitatingly write the review as want to keep the idealic southern part of the island a secret. Sharon’s warmth, clear communication, strong organisational skills and attention to detail is inspiring. The apartment was amazingly clean and filled with treats that constantly lured our senses. All the extras at Waimarie go beyond comfort and the luxury provided by Sharon and Peter is unmatchable. We have rebooked two apartments for a fortnight and are already wondering how we can return even earlier... We recently visited LHI and stayed six nights at Waimarie. We were welcomed at Airport by Sharon who then gave us a very detailed tour of island pointing out places of interest and giving us lots of information on the islands history. During this tour Sharon also showed us where the restaurants were and the nights open. The Apartment felt very welcoming with freshly baked bread and home made slice in kitchen on our arrival. The Apartment looked fresh and appeared to have been recently renovated/very well maintained with lots of natural light. Also immaculately clean. Everything we needed was there in this gorgeous and very comfortable Apartment. Loved the beautifully scented bath products and lavender sleep therapy too.
Outside was a verandah with great view, lush gardens and a barbecue with appealing outdoor eating area.
We look forward to staying there again on our next visit to LHI and would not hesitate in recommending to family and friends.

Waimarie exceeded our expectations. Peter’s tour was a lovely welcome to Lord Howe Island. The apartment was spotless, very well equipped and very comfortable. We appreciated the lovely ‘welcome’ provisions including home-baked biscuits, coffee, fresh eggs and bread. We loved sitting in the garden, enjoying the view and watching the sun set. Sharon and Peter were very helpful with suggestions for which hikes to do when. We had a fabulous stay!

My friend and I stayed here for 5 nights after staying the previous 6 nights at Beachcomber Lodge. Thank goodness we did. Sharon and Peter have thought of everything. I just can’t fault it. As two ladies having a break away from our husbands, Sharon provided two single beds for us. Such attention to detail - yoga mat, delicious treats, great coffee and tea, fresh bread etc. Plus fabulous toiletries. As stated by the previous guests in these reviews, these two apartments are just lovely. I will be back with my husband as soon as I can!

Waimarie is a self contained recently refurbished luxury apartment that has everything for the discerning guest. It is indeed one of the few sites on the island where you can enjoy a view of the lagoon and Mt Gower and Lidgbird from your private balcony and even the main bedroom. It is very generously appointed with beautiful furniture, very comfortable king size bed, luxurious French linen and towels and is spotlessly clean. The hosts Sharon and Peter are delightfull, helpful and very approachable. Free wifi is an added bonus , freshly ground coffee, Twinings teas, olive oil, sour dough bread and a lovely bottle of bubbles are just a few of the inclusions Waimarie provides. This is in addition to high quality toiletries and very attractive artwork. It is indeed an apartment that delivers EVERYTHING one needs to have a truly relaxing break. We have been guests of Waimarie over the last 20 years and it just keeps getting better and better. LHI is like being on a David Attenborough set and at Waimarie nature is on your doorstep with the LHI woodhen pecking in the shrubs and gorgeous birds chirping in the surrounding kentia's. What is great about self catering is that you can prepare your own breakfast and lunch and then spoil yourself with dinner at the many wonderful restaurants on LHI or have a delicious fish or meat pack delivered to enjoy on the bbq which has a stunning view you need to see to believe. Watch the sun set over Mt Gower and Lidgbird whilst enjoying fresh bbq kingfish and a glass of wine - nothing beats this spot. LHI is a place everyone should visit at least once in their lifetime. Waimarie is the perfect place to enjoy all that this World Heritage Site has to offer.

Waimarie was an absolutely perfect place to stay on our first visit to fabulous Lord Howe Island. Sharon and Peter are consummate hosts – generous, thoughtful, and respectfully present. After meeting my husband and me at the airport, Peter gave us a wonderful introductory tour of the island, sharing expert advice and ideas for hiking, biking, swimming, tours and dining. The apartment itself was immaculate, comfortable, well-maintained and extremely user friendly. Our every need was met and expectations exceeded as we discovered things like fresh flowers, eggs from the chickens they raise, homemade taste treats and delicious coffee - all provided. With a full sized refrigerator with freezer… a private front porch looking out over beautiful fields to Mt Lidgbird and Mt Gower, a separate private back patio full of blooming agapanthus, and a gazebo where we enjoyed cocktails and sunsets, coffee and morning bird song... we loved calling this delightful place "home". By bike or walking, Binky Beach and a beach (our hosts pointed out) at the end of the Lagoon, are in close proximity... as are several hiking trails. We enjoyed observing the arrivals and departures of flights - and their timing/sound was no issue whatsoever as there are very few and all during daylight hours. If you are physically challenged, as we were, FYI there’s a flight of stairs leading up to this apartment and a rise into the driveway when biking... these were no problem for us as our hosts graciously simplified any mobility concerns & accommodated every request we made. If you’re interested in being well cared for by hosts with a deep historic connection to Lord Howe, the beauty of a private/quiet setting, comfortable well-designed spaces, cool breezes and phenomenal sunsets – Waimarie is just the spot! We just spent 2 weeks at lovely Waimarie and it is truly beautiful. Sharon and Peter do everything possible to make sure your stay on LHI is enjoyable. You’ll be picked up at the airport and taken on a tour around the island to help get your bearings. They’ll drop you off so you can hire you bikes, which is a must.
With the location as there are only 2 appartments this allows for the accommodation to be super quiet. The appartments are well set out with a everything needed to enjoy your holiday.
Sharon and Peter drop you out for dinner each night and the restaurants will bring you home. If you want to stay in to cook, you have a fully equipped kitchen or you can BBQ in your own private outside area.
We loved watching the planes land and take off from the airport which is across the road, don’t worry about that as there are literally a handful all day. Thanks to Sharon and Peter who really looked after us on LHI and helped make our visit on absolutely magical experience.

Our price in March is $450 a night.
We have no venomous spiders, but do provide surface spray, if required. March is a great time to visit Lord Howe Island.

The rate is $420 a night, but we are happy to discount to $400 a night. You can check out our website for availability if you wish.
Bike hire is easy, we will take you there. You don't need to book that. Small cars are for hire, but will need to be booked in advance, let us know if you need that. It is a flat, easy walk from our units to the beach, but most people hire bikes .
March is a great time to come.
