Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

We stayed in March 2017 and I had booked again for Sept/Oct 2019- except i got the dates wrong. The owner was incredibly kind and offered an alternative room and when that didn't work allowed me to get a full refund. Appreciated their help immensely. When we did stay in 2017 we found the cottage to be very clean and stocked with everything we needed. Whilst the spa cottage is quite close to the main house there was a lot of privacy. We also enjoyed getting to meet all of the animals on the property with Annie the pig being a favourite. Definitely plan to stay again!

My family of 2 adults and 2 young children stayed at the Banksia Park Cottages over the Easter long weekend. We drove from Sydney and arrived at approximately 2.40pm - 20 minutes earlier than the check in time of 3pm. Upon arrival we eventually found one of our hosts (reception was not staffed during our stay) and asked if we could check in. The answer was no, we could not. Thinking thats fine, we understand that we’re 20 minutes early, we asked if we could park and let our children play on the playground/look at the extensive grounds etc. Much to our surprise the answer was again no. We were asked to leave and return again at 3pm. This was incredibly inhospitable as there is not a lot to do in the surrounding area without driving a fair distance. Unfortunately the attitude of our hosts on arrival tainted our attitude to the property and took some of the enjoyment out of the trip. The accommodation is adequate, feeding the animals is fun (note they no longer have chickens) and the kids enjoyed the playground. However based on the lacklustre attitude of the hosts I wouldn’t recommend Banksia Park for a visit.

My husband and I spend a couple of nights each year, at different times of the year, relaxing in Wombat cottage. We enjoy a coffee (from the Nespresso machine in the cottage) overlooking the olive groves. And always take home a few bottles of their olive oil for friends. The cottages are well equipped and comfortable and the patchy mobile coverage means you can properly relax without distractions. Feeding time for the animals - donkeys, sheep and pig - is not just for kids!Building these cottages and maintaining such a large property is really a labour of love for the owners Alison and Paul and it means it is a special place. We appreciate being able to bring our senior dog who loves playing with their dog Cooper. Looking forward already to next years visit!

Hosts were lovely and very helpful. Very clean and welcoming. Beautiful bushwalk on offer. Friendly wombats. Even soccer goals! TV could use updating and a DVD player for longer stays but will definitely be back! Very glad no wifi- a real bush retreat.

We stayed for 2 nights mid week and enjoyed our cosy cabin a lot. We booked the Kookaburra cabin as it was a 2 bedroom and close to a wedding next door at the Kangaroo valley bush retreat. The venue is probably about a 15 min walk from the retreat or a 2 min drive. The closest you will find away from the retreat but still close enough to be apart of daily activities. Our cabin was cosy and well equipped. Heating was great and hot water was perfect. We had a friendly wombat at our doorstep in the afternoons - plenty of Wildlife around. We will be recommending these cottages to anyone visiting Kangaroo Valley.

We visited for 3 nights at the end of the school holidays with an 8yo and 4yo, and another family with kids the same age. The kids loved exploring the surrounds, finding wombat holes and spotting kangaroos. We walked down to the river and back - worth the steep decent and ascent, where we saw the river. The cottages are well equipped and comfortable. The trampoline was a huge hit, as was feeding time with the animals. There is a large shared kitchen area (only needed if you need an oven) that also has a pool table and comfy couches, along with table tennis. There are fire pits at each cottage and we loved lighting these and roasting marshmallows. This is a safe and fun location for the kids and relaxing for parents. I’d like to see the cottages modernised(circa 1980’s) but it certainly wouldn’t stop people from coming.

My husband and i stayed in the 1 bedroom cottage "The Banksia". We had a lovely plunge pool with views of Kangaroo Valley. The cottage was clean and roomy. Great place to unwind and relax. Paul and Allison run a beautiful property with olive groves and animals that kids can feed daily. Overall a great stay. Would highly recommend it.

We loved the scenery and wildlife surrounding our cottage. The gas heater was great to keep the place warm. The only thing that let the place down was a note left on the table saying to please sleep between sheets because doona covers are not always washed between visitors. YUCK!!!

Banksia Park Cottages was a lovely stay for our family. The cabin looked out onto beautiful mountains and an olive grove and the kids especially loved their own private camp fire. The cottages were well appointed and the gas heater did a wonderful job of warming the cottage. The bush walk to the river is a must as is the animal feeding at 4pm. The animals are gentle and great with children. we loved watching the sheep run home for their dinner. Of course the favourite animal was their gorgeous dog Cooper. From Wombat spotting at night, damper making and toasted marshmallow around the campfire to checking out the property during the day and enjoying the pooll and recreation area, the kids never asked to watch television or play their Ipads once! Alison is so helpful and easy going also. We had a great time and would love to come again one day.
