We stayed one night on the way to Hunter Valley from Melbourne.

Rooms are much nicer than the exterior looks and rooms seem to have been refurbished. Rooms are small but assume most clients just do overnight stays to break up Melbourne to Sydney.

Our room was not roadside but located at the rear of the property so very quiet.

Rooms are priced at $90 which is exceptional value and reason it seems to be fully booked.

Town is an easy walk up the road and the lovely modern services club is across the road.

Last week opted to stay on our return trip from Sydney/Melbourne at this Motel as it was value priced and had breakfast available. On the way up to Sydney we had stayed across the road at 'another' Motel that had advertised breakfast but on arrival said they dont and it was about $30.00 a room more expensive than the Gundagai Motel comparing same layout...The room was spotless clean /all facilities and great air con, quiet location..Huge breakfast and the pricing including breakfast still 'under' the motel over the road that had no breakfasts!!!
The RSL was just a 5 minute walk away for a great evening meal..The stay was topped off by really great friendly hosts...
Room 1 can recommend for a great stay and marked for our next roadtrip that way..

Booked online, prior to arrival we were sent an sms with a code to get into the room. On arrival, we parked around the corner as we were towing a small boat trailer and couldn’t find our room. We located the room no 29 which is attached to no. 30 and the back laundry. They are tucked in the back of the motel and do not have allocated parking. Apparently parking for these rooms is in the club car park across the road. Two commercial clothes dryers were in operation directly outside the door. We phoned the offsite contact number to be informed the motel was full, when I asked for a refund was informed that there was a room available but it was a family room and after 45 minutes and an additional $55 we were allocated a room that had parking. With no onsite reception if have issues it could be hard to get them resolved. As with all offsite booking systems they had no idea of where any of the rooms were located and trying to explain our needs was difficult. If I had known that it was going to cost us $195 we could stayed somewhere much nicer. Definitely will not stay here again.

You spoke with the call centre who are not onsite. If you had of called the afterhours number it would have been sorted differently as we are on the premises. Our office is run remotely from the Tourist Park just 100mts away.

I have stayed at this motel before when travelling and it was relatively cheap and ok. If you get a room on West Street be aware it is the main trucking route through town and can get noisy but it’s gotta be cheap for a reason. However this time around the bed or whole room or something stunk of cigarette smoke and bad body odour. It was foul. I wouldn’t stay there again.

This property is very convenient to the CBD and in particular the Serviceman’s club. Only a short distance to a good selection of hotels where a meal can be had.
The room was small, although clean and comfortable, however the road noise was horrendous. Every truck or car that went past was audible in the room making an uncomfortable night, and there were a lot of trucks like its a bypass or similar.
Check-in was unique as a code was sent by SMS with a room allocation. We never saw anyone from the property at all.

We seem to find ourselves doing the Sydney to Melbourne run and vice versa regularly over the last few years. Often we try to get out of Sydney the night before, but have struggled to find somewhere decent and convenient enough to spend a night between Yass and Gundagi - no longer!

Gundagai Motel was exactly what you want in a place to stay to break up your trip with the family. Plenty of room, very close to the highway, still quiet (we slept through everyone else leaving the next day), and even though we ended up getting in VERY late (11pm) the staff helped us get in and even made sure the heater was on in advance. 100% recommend.

Clean room and bathroom and comfortable bed. But no microwave as in many other motels off highway. Also, thin walls to room : phone calls plainly heard on one side and snoring on the other. Advertised price $100, but charged $115 for phone booking - go figure as Americans might say.

We don't expect much from a motel when there's 4 of you crammed in a room, but this was excellent.

A no-touch check-in and check-out made it easy as we arrived late and left early. The kids room was a good size, the bathrooms renovated with good towels and toiletries.
The heater warmed the rooms quickly, but in the colder months I could see the need for a heater in the back room.
I'd have appreciated some extra water glasses, some wine glasses and a corkscrew.

We phoned to book at lunch time on the day of our arrival and were allocated a room and told of the self check-in arrangement that worked well.
It transpired that our room and another [29 +30] are not in the 'main building' and window looked onto a passageway. Our room was rather small; as new; no hanging space and very quiet until the 'in house' laundry commenced operations at approx 9.30am.
