One of only two motels I know of that has a lovely back veranda with a view - the other is at Wahgunyah in Vic on the Murray. If you are pretentious, don’t stay here. If you like simple things, a fabulous view of the river flats, cows and remnant volcano from your own room, and great value to boot, then you will love it. We stay here every time we drive NSW to Brisbane and it’s always the same which is something to be grateful for in this mad world. It does what it does very well. Pool is welcome on hot summer days, and rooms have ceiling fans, not just aircon - hallelujah.

This was a great find just outside Gloucester. It would appear all rooms have beautiful views over the countryside. The motel is designed in a crescent shape, with entry doors and parking on the inside and the great views from the rooms on outside. It is somewhat dated, my guess late 80's, but (at least in my room) all fixtures and fittings were in great condition. I suspect the light fittings have been upgraded, as well as the aircon (split rather than box). It is very clean and the bedding appears quite new and very comfortable. It is located a short drive from town. There is a country club next door for meals/drinks (I didn't visit). Would stay again, should I need accommodation in Gloucester.

We came at a quiet time, which may have been lucky because we were given the best room we have stayed in for our entire three week trip so far, twice the size of others we have stayed in for this price bracket, well appointed (so many small details, like a ceiling fan above the bed as well as air conditioning) and spotlessly clean. There was a double and a single bed, two padded chairs with a reading light, a small table with two chairs and a sliding glass door at the back leading to an outdoor table setting with fabulous views of the countryside and mountain range. The bed was soft and comfy and there was very little noise so we had a good night's sleep - in fact it was so good we decided to just do a day tour around Gloucester and stay a second night.

Room Tip: built in a hexagonal shape, the rooms on the 'corners' are large (ours was room #4)

We have stayed at this motel numerous times over the past 4 years. It is dated (that is to be expected given the age of the hotel) but the rooms have always been clean, the grounds tidy and the service exceptional.

Since the new 'owner operator' has taken over, things have changed significantly. The rooms are still clean but the grounds are a mess and the service is horrible.

To mention just a few things:
- The reception area is dirty and cluttered.
- The covered car port that customers used to be able to park in while they checked in is now seems to be the housekeeper's parking spot.
- The towels are thread bare, only two to a room and no face cloths.
- The grounds are messy. Broken chairs, chairs covered in tools, old clothes and footwear.
- Staff are rude and yell at customers trying to check in / out across the grounds instead of coming over to speak with them.
- Rooms are only cleaned if you leave the 'please clean this room' sign out.
- Breakfast is no longer an option in the morning. This used to be a nice option as food can be difficult to find in the area around holidays.
- There are menus in the rooms for the Golf Club next door but no mention that the kitchen at the Golf Club is closed.

Although the location and the view are wonderful, I wouldn't recommend stopping at this motel.

Unhappy Guest

👍our room was number 20 .
A quiet room ,spacious and had a back glass sliding door for extra air flow.
Situated close to golf club and not too far from town centre
Plenty of easy parking and beds were reasonably comfortable
Room tariff was $125 per night.
👎room was a tad dark and had a stuffiness about it,some mould in shower ,very small tv screen and wifi would drop out now and then 😩
Not a great motel but for what we paid I guess it wasn’t too bad

It was very clean, but really dated. My ac unit wasn’t working and wasn’t fixed before I left, as promised. I had a small fan heater, but it really wasn't enough. No electric blankets on the beds as advertised. The towels were very faded and really thin..the taps in the bathroom were from the 70s and the pastic on them was cracked . The TV didn’t work properly so I couldn’t watch it, and the wifi was almost non existent..

A pleasant enough hotel for the price. Reasonable value for money. Hotel set in lovely grounds and staff were pleasant.
The hotel is in serious need of a bit of an update though.
My biggest concern was with lack of appropriate lighting, both in the rooms and in the common areas.
The lighting in the room was so poor, that I could barely see more with all the lights on than I could with them off. The room lights need to be changed immediately from underpowered fluorescent bulbs to newer, cheaper to run, led globes with sufficient wattage.
The lack of lighting both in the rooms and outside contributes to a serious OH & S problem.
Almost impossible to walk around outside safely unless you are carrying a torch, and how on earth are the staff keeping the rooms hygienic when the rooms are so dark ?

Lovely motel with helpful staff. The view was great and we loved sitting out the back to eat breakfast as the fog lifted over the hills in the morning or as the sunset with a warm cuppa. The beds were soft and comfortable with nice hot showers. Lovely country people everywhere.

We were here for 2 weeks, we were in room 9, we found the staff very good, it was very clean and tidy.
Parking wasn't an issue, we found the bed very good and both sides had an Electric Blanket.
There is fridge, kettle, microwave oven and toaster in the room to use as well as a BBQ out at the pool.
To the center of town it's about 3 minute drive.

we just needed a room for our family for 1 night as a base for some Barrington Tops walks. This no fuss motel fitted our needs perfectly - clean spacious family room, well priced, convenient location and even a pool which the kids were desperate to use but we had no time. The owners were always welcoming and friendly and went out of their way to help us with a few extras that we needed to borrrow. Happy to recommend and stay at again. Thanks

We were flying in from Brisbsne and our flight didn't arrive in till lunch time so we didn't arrive in Gloucester till after 2pm which is the usual check in time. But if I know I'm arriving at my destination earlier than the usual 2pm check in. I always ask if i can check in early. I'm sure that if you were to ask them and they had a unit empty you could arrive earlier It all depends on how many units they have to clean from the night before. As some tines I noticed they were still cleaning them at lunch time after a busy night.
