This was a last minute booking for a 1 night stay after visiting the (spectacular!) Cathedral Rocks. We were greeted with a friendly welcome and efficient service. Our room was stylish and impeccably maintained and felt newly renovated - no sticky carpets or skanky shower curtains in this place!!! It was lovely to take a stroll around the beautiful property before checking out in the morning. I highly recommend!

We can only give praise to this wonderfull well managed mountain paradise. The rooms , beds and bathroom are newly updated and very comfortable with nothing forgotten .microwave, plates cutlery for warm up meals was a bonus. Kettle, toaster coffee tea and wine glasses to enjoy a drink on the patio overlooking the stunning mountain views
There is an on-site restaurant which serves delicious meals.
The cafe sells chocks and Rocky Road to die for.
This is a must stay when visiting Dorrigo area

I rang this accommodation about a month before Christmas and it was booked out over the Christmas period so I had to book alternative accommodation and what a disaster. The first night at the other accommodation there was a party until 4am, people banging on doors, no latch on the door, the toilet door didn’t close and the bed was way too soft. In desperation I rang the Lookout Mountain Retreat hoping there was a cancellation. Luck was on our side, and there was one room. Once getting there we were welcomed by the owners and when we went to our room it was like going from one extreme to the other. Nice large room, functional bathroom, comfortable bed and oh was it quiet. Absolute bliss. My partner and I spent the next 3 nights in quietness and looking out at fantastic views. We will be back

I was just passing through and they have a couple of single-bed rooms - much bigger than I was led to expect but note only room 24 has the nice deck and mountain views, room 23 is a car park room. Lots of bugs but otherwise a nice room and the views are fantastic. There’s a long deck with tables and chairs although my room was right where the rainwater floods. Only a short drive from Dorrigo but I had no phone reception out here, however the wifi was pretty good. Maybe not enough for the high price for a single room. Then I got confused about the free breakfast on my booking because, when I checked in, they said that there was breakfast in my room or I could pay $10 for continental breakfast in the cafe, so I ate the breakfast pack in the room and got charged for it and further research suggests that it's the cafe breakfast that is supposed to be free.

The setting is dramatic with mountain and strict views, an in-house small deer park, and attractive gardens. Our room (presumably all rooms) had been modernised and had dramatically comfortable armchairs. Friendly and helpful reception. One particular issue is that the onsite restaurant / cafe which was good when open is only available for part of the week (they did list but did not push an in-room tray option) and the food offerings in nearby Dorrigo were uninspiring. Also marking the door sign to request our room be serviced produced a minimal and inadequate visit. That is poor and drops it a point from us.

We booked and got the last room available, a very comfortable family suite with separate bedroom for children if needed and a well appointed kitchen, eating and dining area as well as the section with a very comfortable Queen Sized Bed.

There is a very attractive dining rom, serving an excellent breakfast, great coffee and in the evening a really good hearty meal for guests. The food was very high standard but not fancy, it was honest well cooked and presented country fare.

The hosts Phil and Wayne were an example of friendliness and information, very funny and engaging with the story of their acquiring the property and all the work done to bring it to the high standard it currenlty enjoys..

It is beautifully located with lovely view over the mountains and very close to the rainforest Centre and Walks, Dangar Falls and all that the Bellingen/Dorrigo area has to offer. An ideal getaway from the city for a long week end for all manner of travellers.

We stayed here midweek for two nights. It was very quiet which was delightful, but it meant that the facility’s cafe was closed. It opens from Thursday to Sunday. The view is spectacular and don’t forget to check out the resident deer on the property. The rooms are fairly usual-sized Motel rooms, but equipped with a microwave as well as toaster and kettle, which might facilitate preparation of simple meals, if you didn’t want to go out. The room fittings are nearly new in many regards with a comfortable bed and recliner seating and with excellent speed wifi available. Check in/out are made effortless as there is no need to collect/return a key - doors have combination locks and the PIN is given by way of a text message on the day of arrival. Highly recommended - $160 approx per night.

The owners and staff were all more friendly than anywhere I have been before, informative and passionate about just about everything, not to mention a wicked sense of humour! The grounds are stunning, we had an amazing sunset view before the clouds came in the next day so very fortunate. The rooms had the most comfortable reclining chairs I could have slept in them, but the bed was even more comfortable! The room had personality - feature brick walls, a variety of lighting for mood or stronger for reading, and overall I felt it was so much more inviting than traditional stark white hotel rooms Nice hot water and roomy showers with rainwater heads. We had been travelling and made use of their laundry facilities which were a good price. The restaurant meals were delicious, the wine lovely, a romantic setting with fireplace and nice lighting , and the breakfast simply divine (highly recommend the Wellness bowl and Belgian waffles!). Great all-inclusive deal for our 2nd night. On our 1st night (a Thursday) the restaurant was closed but it was only a 5 minute drive into town for an equally awesome pub meal. Great place to stay and the proximity to the Dorrigo National Park was perfect. I will definitely visit again and recommend it highly.

We stayed 2 nights so to explore the Dorrigo National Park. The rooms were very comfortable with 2 recliners and you can sit outside to watch the sunset over the mountains. There is a dining room (not open every day) which is worth booking as the food is quite good. Phil & Wayne are welcoming hosts and down to earth. We will definitely stay here again but for longer next time.

Stayed as part of a wedding, booked by the couple. Check in was easy, family room was big enough for 4 adults, very comfy beds and pillows.

We didn’t spend much time in the room itself but it was decked out with the usual amenities.
Phone reception (under vodafone) non existent however free wifi was strong and quick.

Attached cafe/restaurant had a much needed fire place, comfy and spacious. The two guys at the bar were great and full of information of the area and waitstaff were warm and friendly.

Amazing views around seen from a big open grassy area were much appreciated and the enclosed deer paddock was a welcome surprise.
