Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Under new ownership and management. Thanks to Gabrielle’s welcome and Craig for the fabulous fire to enjoy our ‘fivesies’. Rooms have been renovated since our previous stay many moons ago … good job - great shower! We’d been told the restaurant wasn’t operative so came with our own provisions - thanks to Bello IGA!

Xmas in July night. Paid $210 each for the worst meal ever. Alcohol was not much better. Entertainment was average and tooooo loud Rooms were out dated. No soap!! Ended up not even staying the night. Drove home. Would not recommend this to anyone

A truly enjoyable experience, and will definitely be visiting Lookout Mountain again. Room was clean and comfortable, and the setting splendid; beautiful views, manicured lawns and a deer farm. Our hosts, Craig and Gabrielle, were so friendly and accommodating . A warm welcome on arrival, and a toasty fireplace to enjoy a bottle of wine by in the evening.

We stayed here recently. Quiet and the deer are cute but it is not a retreat it’s a motel. The grounds are unkept and the main building and Bistro are deserted and not operating . There is no reception, contact is by phone/ email only. Beware of unpredictable high tariffs. Very disappointing.

This property accepted a two night booking from us in October, confirmed our arrival details three days before before and sent us an online "contactless check-in" registration form but when we called to say we were running late for our arrival on December 28 were informed that "the property is full and there must be a glitch in the system". The modern day version of "no room at the inn" which left us high and dry and having to travel as far as Armidale because all accommodation was booked in Coffs Harbour and Bellingen. Worse, we had originally booked on Booking.com but were encouraged when we rang to clarify details of the room to cancel that booking and book directly with the property itself at a lower rate. We can only suspect that our room was sold to someone else at a higher rate just as we were about to arrive at the property and are examining our legal options. The most disgraceful treatment we have had in many decades of travel. Buyer beware.

We only stayed on night in the motel but it was roomy, quiet, clean, not far from town and had a lovely comfy bed and big shower. Great parking and a beautiful view and grounds to walk around. And we were able to get close to and feed the deer on the grounds.

What a lovely place to stay when visiting the sights and sounds of the rain forest around Dorrigo. I came here recently and got a good feeling by the friendly welcome at the reception. The guy there (sorry, forgotten your name) was very chatty and I learned that him and his partner were just about to quit the place and go into semi retirement back Melbourne way. Oh well. Anyway, my room was easy to find - this is very much a motel style concept here. Free parking was possible just outside my room 202. I found it to be rather on the dark side, probably on account of the brick walls as opposed to bright paint schemes. I appreciated the large comfy double bed.  The room had two comfortable arm chairs positioned across from the large flat screen TV - something I didn't use as I was here to explore the countryside and surroundings - not watch telly. There was a good sized bathroom with large skylight making it very light during daylight hours. The shower was one with one of those rain forest showers - very appropriate, I thought. The WiFi worked well. I liked the fact that the room had a kettle with coffee, tea and biscuits.  I didn't stay for evening dinner there but, the next morning, after a great nights sleep, I did try out the attractive cafe on site. This gave me a chance to also meet and chat with the other partner here. He was also very friendly and ready to chat and banter with an Englishman coming from Germany. I ordered a large latte and egg/bacon on toast which I ate outside with superb views down also to a paddock with deer. I wondered when some of them would be appearing on the evening menu. Only hope that the new owners will be as good as the existing ones to whom I extend my best wishes for their next venture down south.

What a lovely place this is. Would highly recommend it. The dinner was great and we enjoyed a drink before dinner near the fireplace. Breakfast was really nice this morning and they catered for a guest with a gluten free diet.

I agree with the other reviews on here. The views and excellent and the way the rooms are laid out everyone has a view. The staff are super friendly and helpful answering questions and giving advice on what to see and visit. The 2 lazy boy recliners in the room were a nice touch and so nice to be able to sit and watch TV/ Relax without having to sit on the bed. We definitely recommend and stay again if i come back this way

The owners and staff were all more friendly than anywhere I have been before, informative and passionate about just about everything, not to mention a wicked sense of humour! The grounds are stunning, we had an amazing sunset view before the clouds came in the next day so very fortunate. The rooms had the most comfortable reclining chairs I could have slept in them, but the bed was even more comfortable! The room had personality - feature brick walls, a variety of lighting for mood or stronger for reading, and overall I felt it was so much more inviting than traditional stark white hotel rooms Nice hot water and roomy showers with rainwater heads. We had been travelling and made use of their laundry facilities which were a good price. The restaurant meals were delicious, the wine lovely, a romantic setting with fireplace and nice lighting , and the breakfast simply divine (highly recommend the Wellness bowl and Belgian waffles!). Great all-inclusive deal for our 2nd night. On our 1st night (a Thursday) the restaurant was closed but it was only a 5 minute drive into town for an equally awesome pub meal. Great place to stay and the proximity to the Dorrigo National Park was perfect. I will definitely visit again and recommend it highly.
