Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Big Hill was perfect for our family and our group of friends for the June long weekend. We checked in to Cottage 3 and were very happy to see a 3 bedroom cottage with great facilities. Newly installed air con unit and extra blankets were there to ensure that we weren’t going to be cold especially at night.
The new bathroom was lovely!

The location is perfect for families, plenty of spots to sit by the fire pits, catch up at the communal area, enjoy a morning coffee in a sunny sport and of course to have a hit of tennis. Our children enjoyed riding their bikes around safely and were happy to see there were also some cows on the neighbouring property.
Over the road is a beautiful beach and it’s not far from Racecourse beach which is perfect for swimming and surfing.

Thanks Lola for helping us out at reception!

We will be back!
We enjoyed some delicious pizzas from the Bush Kitchen one night which is very close to Big Hill cottages.

Our Big Hill Beach Cottage stay with family and friends was a delightful combination of both the peaceful countryside and the gorgeous beach across the road, providing the ideal setting for us to reset and unwind for the week. The chic cottages offered the comfort of home, including air-conditioning, a modern bathroom and a fully equipped kitchen. Enjoying breakfast on the patio with natural surroundings and wildlife, including kangaroos passing by, created enjoyable moments.

We booked 5 of the 6 cottages for a family reunion and were delighted with the location, accommodation and external covered BBQ areas. It was a perfectly safe place for the kids to run around between our cottages and even though it was raining, the covered BBQ areas, long cottage verandas and carports provided enough covered outdoor spaces that the rain really didn’t bother us. The cottages were large and clean, & well appointed and the beds very comfortable. There is no WiFi but we actually enjoyed having no internet - meant no one was attached to their phones and we actually had to talk face to face!! Those who got desperate took a walk over to the beach where they could connect to the outside world. The cottages are a short drive from Crescent Head and across the road from the most beautiful beach. Fortunately the sun came our and we spent a delightful day down the South end of the beach swimming, fishing and strolling along the walking tracks. We would all highly recommend Big Hill Cottages for a large group gathering.

Impressed by the TripAdvisor reviews of this place we booked 5 days for our family including Grandma and loved it. So quiet and peaceful (though do note there is NO mobile service unless you are right out on the beach!). Simple and practical cottage layout for beach holiday. Heaps of space. Quite new and mostly functional kitchen - with a dishwasher! Indoor shower pressure disappointing so good thing we weren't too worried about that (except Grandma, perhaps!) - quick outdoor showers sufficed for our short stay. Very quick hop across the road to a gorgeous, quiet beach. Plenty of fauna (kangaroos, goannas, multitudes of birds and even an echidna) delighted young and old. Tennis court newly refurbished. Bindiis deterred other outdoor games but the beach was the main attraction. And the fire-pit for nightly campfires and marshmallows. Highly recommend both the coffee and pizzas just down the road at the Bush Kitchen Cafe. Would never want to stay in Crescent Head township having now experienced this privacy and peacefulness. Interested patrons should note it is dirt road out from town, and we are also disappointed that, somehow, by booking via TripAdvisor, we have been charged a higher rate than that quoted on the accomodation's actual website. But it won't stop us coming back - just buyer beware!

Accommodation here is a 3 bedroom cottage, fully equipped with all the facilities to make your time away relaxing. Each cottage has a dishwasher, stove, oven, fridge and microwave. Outside you have a bbq and outdoor furniture and firepit. You need to bring your own linen and towels but not quilts or pillows.

The beach is a short walk away and a lovely big beach it is. The property also has a tennis court. The property has nice bush gardens and as there is only 6 cottages on the property, it is private and secluded.

Each cottage sleeps 6 comfortably. It consists of 2 rooms with queen beds and the other room has a double bunk on the bottom and a single on top. The lounge room has a digital TV and dvd player.

There is also a laundry with washing machine if you require it. There are some nice little touchs too, a outdoor shower, clothes horse and clothes line. On the front verandah, there is a wooden picnic table, another table and chairs and two banana lounges.

It is a little distance from Crescent Head, with some dirt road to go on and it is a little rough in places, so take it easy on the road but it isn't too bad.

Overall a great value place for a quiet summer weekend.

Recently had the pleasure of catching up with friends here for a long weekend- will def be back. A fantastic spot, peace and quiet, heaps of room for the kids, great fire put out the front of the cabin. Cabins great size and fully equipped.
We have already booked in for next year.
Loved the no mobile reception, we were able to debate topics without the google machine.

We spent two lovely nights at the Big Hill Beach Cottages. Driving out of Cresant Heads we were wondering where we were going - what a pleasant surprise. The cottages are set in bush land and you would never know they were there. The grounds are immaculately maintained and there has been recent work to update the bathrooms and kitchens. This would be a superb venue for a family get away. Pack the bikes, tennis racquets and your bathers and you'll be set. All cottages have full equipped kitchens and BBQ's. We loved having the fire pit in our front yard - a perfect way to relax. Make sure you prearrange to pay for linen or take your own.

Big cabins. Very clean. Well appointed. Cool fire pits outside each cabin - wood provided. Great for sitting around at night. Across the road from beach and ok beachbreaks (not far from some great pointbreaks too). Plenty of space in between cabins so noise complaints were minimal (damn 5am kookaburras!). Wallabies and bird life abound. Fall asleep to the sound of surf. Thoroughly recommend this place.

We went up there for a relaxing long weekend away. Absolute cracker of a spot located right next to the beach.
The cottages were great in size and had everything we needed. The ocean was just a short stroll across the road to cool off after we had a hit of tennis and fished out off the headland great spot looking forward to getting up there in the near future

We took our children and their friends here for their birthday party. We had two cabins and both were perfectly clean and couldn't complain about the great fit out and kitchen assessories. Bbq's all clean as well. Lola was so friendly and obviously a hard little worker. The cabins were extremely well equipped. The only issue we had was the heat in the cabins and Not even any ceiling fans in the bedrooms, this was a little disappointing. The table tennis, pool were not there and tennis courts as advertised were not able to be used as not complete. If the lawns had been mowed so we weren't tramping through long grass would have been good. A little disappointed with these minor details but certainly wouldn't take away from recommending this great spot!
