Sally and Dick are both friendly and helpful and the property is in a great location with large open spaces and the Castlereagh River running behind it. Our room was very spacious and comfortable (we were checked into a family room). We arrived on a wet, cold and cloudy day, and despite this didn’t feel the need to switch on the heating. The rain stopped later in the day however the skies were still blanketed with a thick cloud cover. Before going to bed I took a look outside and was thrilled that the clouds had lifted and the Milky Way could be seen with the naked eye. It was beautiful! If it was a warm night, we would have laid out there for hours. Unfortunately, my mobile phone camera was useless in capturing the spectacular sight! Parking available outside your room (not undercover). Enjoyable relaxing out at the back of the room, listening to all the various bird calls and enjoying the expanse of the property.…
We had a wonderful stay at Warrumbungles Mountain Motel! The room was spacious, very clean and well maintained with lots of good facilities (full kitchen, separate toilet, dining area, back and front patios with view over the motel parkland). The excellent condition more than made up for the fact that the room was a little dated. The motel is in a great location for exploring the Warrumbungles National Park and was beautifully quiet of a night with low light pollution for star gazing. It's still easy access to Coonabarabran when you need supplies. A highlight of the stay was the delicious home cooked dinners provided by Sally, who was always friendly and helpful. Thank you!
Friendly staff, fantastic (and super clean) room with all the comforts of home and a stunning location! Only complaint is that we couldn’t stay longer. We will definitely be back another time, can’t wait!
A large comfortable room sleeping 7..... 4 bunk beds, 1 single and 1 double.... with great kitchen facilities, large dining table, fan and aircon, outdoor table and chairs to sit & have a cuppa looking over the big grassy area to the creek. The dinners I ordered were perfectly cooked home-style meals , so tasty. The rest of my family of 4 joined me on the night we returned , as it was pouring with rain & getting dark so could not put up their tent and were appreciative of Sally being able to book them in with me. A lovely location and fairly close to all attractions.
Initially booked 3 nights but extended to 4 due to our enjoyment of the motel's beautiful location and the amount of exploring we wanted to do. The proximity to the Warrumbungle NP is ideal, as is the distance to town - only 9kms away. We prefer to stay just out of town for the peace and quiet. Warrumbungles Mountain Motel was absolutely perfect for us. The grounds behind the rooms is stunning - huge expanses of green grass with magnificent trees teeming with birdlife - the crimson rosellas and king parrots are a joy to watch and photograph. After a day out exploring, we'd take a refreshing dip in the lovely salt water pool and then sit out the back for a sunset drink taking in the view before cooking dinner on the bbq. The owner, Sally, is not only the friendliest, sweetest woman, she is a wealth of information for travellers. We loved our stay at Warrumbungles Mountain Motel and would highly recommend it.…
We stayed 1 night in the motel room and 1 night in the campsite and we liked both! The room is spacious, very clean and practical though the room is a bit dated but we had everything we needed. The grounds at the back is beautiful with the kids playground, trampoline and pool. Also, the campsite is on the other side of the property which we also enjoyed camping. It was quiet and peaceful and very spacious as well. It is also close to the Siding Spring and Milroy Observatory which we visited. The town centre is not far as well. We really enjoyed our stay in Coonabarabran and we will definitely stay here again when we are in the area.
Great campground in the Warrumbungles. It was quiet and we were only five groups scattered around a large area. The night sky is amazing and we left our tent open so we could stargaze in our sleeping bags; magical! The bathroom (shower and toilets) were clean and about 2-min walk from the campground. Looking at others' reviews, it seems like meals can be provided; we were not told about this (maybe it's just for guests in the cabins?), but we would have used that service had we know.
While our rooms was old and dated, it was perfectly functional, clean and pleasant. Room heating, the cooking facilities, the hot water and the shower worked well. The motel has a resort-like ambiance with many facilities for guests and large grounds. Good to watch the Milky Way on a clear night: bring your binoculars or telescope!
Stayed for two nights when passing through. Fantastic location to explore the National park and close enough to Coonabarabran too. Sally is the owner and she is delightful- so helpful and friendly. The rooms each had a queen size bed, a single bed and 2 sets of bunks so could sleep 7 people. Room had a private bathroom- shower separate so toilet could be used at same time and still private. Kitchenette had a microwave, fridge and in cupboard was a small oven toaster, kettle etc. fully equipped with cutlery and crockery and even a two seater couch and small dining table (to seat 4). Split system air con/heater in rooms and a tv. There is a small table and chairs out the back overlooking the playground/ trampoline etc. At the park there is a function centre, 3 hole golf course, swimming pool and lots of space for caravans. There is sporting equipment available to borrow- footy, tennis racquets etc. Also laundry facilities available in each block. Our deal included breakfast which was toast, juice, cereal delivered to room the night before (we had early starts), One night we arranged dinner there and Sally cooked for us at reasonable prices. the next night we stopped at the supermarket and had a BBQ onsite. There is an observatory across the road to fill an evening- worth a visit! The motel doesn't have a store so you need to bring your own supplies in. Had a terrific stay!…
I stayed here about 4 years ago and again in September. It appears to have become a bit run down. Rooms are old and basic but roomy and fot lots of people. We enjoyed out stay even though we went for the stars and it rained the whole time. Rooms very clean and tidy
