We stayed here for 3 nights and found our room to be spotlessly clean and well set out. Rick and Cheryl are lovely, friendly people who couldn't do enough for us. Mac's Café was right next door and they serve excellent coffees and light meals. Although the motel is located a short distance away from the centre of town, we loved the location because it was quiet. It was also very convenient to the local Services Club where we enjoyed excellent evening meals. Would thoroughly recommend staying here!

Helpful staff were able to fit us in last minute with minimal vacancies around town. My friend and I stayed one night. Comfortable sleep and quite area. Walking distance (10mins or so) to town and the beach. Would definitely go back there and a genuine smile at the reception desk makes such a world of difference.

...we booked online as we were only needing one nights accom... Being school holidays we thought the price was reasonable - (In my opinion, I feel Byron Bay is generally overpriced!) .. we've stayed at the Youth Hostel on previous occasions so this accom was more than adequate for us!
... large motel type room where you drive up to the door - gotta love this for convenience!! ... the room was large in size with a table & chair setting, a small fridge (with freezer), kitchen sink & bench and a microwave ... bathroom was plenty big enough with the normal little extras (shampoo/ soap) - it was very clean and although it was on one of the main roads, we weren't bothered by traffic noiseat all (I guess we were a cple rooms from the road) - there was a television (and I think a DVD player) - security was good - and I presume the managers live on-site.
Check in was prompt - staff were efficient !
I'd recommend this Motel to people. .. clean / comfortable / reasonably priced /no frills!

Stayed here during the low season first 3 days, then extended with another 9 days in room 15, the unit farthest away from the road. The staff was not only extremely friendly, they went way out of their way to make our stay such a wonderful pleasure. Free DVDs and books, and free WiFi. A gas-fired BBQ grill plus picnic tables available for everyone to use. Very clean room with all conveniences. Walking distance to Byron Bay. Free parking on the premises as well as laundry facilities. Comfortable beds, a quiet AC & heating unit and, as a nice touch, even a DVD player in the room. We'll be back in due time!

I left this place with mixed feelings. The room was pretty good, typical of a motel room really. It had everything you would ask for. However there were two problem which I had which would stop me from returning.

1. This was largely my fault but the way it was managed left a lot to be desired. We booked this motel to break the journey from Sydney to Brisbane. What I didn't realise was that this hotel had a 7pm cut off for check-ins. Ie. you've to arrive before 7pm. So without realising this we arrived after 8pm. To their credit the receptionist had stayed on as she knew we had booked on booking.com that morning. So if it wasn't for that we would have arrived with no way of checking in. But her attitude left me feeling very unwelcome, having spent a large portion of the day in the car to arrive to a frosty welcome was the last thing I wanted. She advised that it stated clearly in my booking.com confirmation and on checking afterwards it did, but after spending 3 months travelling this was the only place we came across where checkin times were limited. Again it was my fault for not checking the confirmation, but with the way I was welcomed, if i hadn't prepaid, i would have lefy and checked in somewhere else.

2. A visit to the bathroom in the middle of the night included a welcome reception from a large cockroach. Not a nice surprise in the middle of the night. Although friendlier than the welcome at reception!

Finding Dolphins Beach House on-line through booking.com my partner and I booked a one night stay while travelling up to Bundaberg from Brisbane. One of the reasons we booked this accommodation, over several others, was due to advertised air conditioning in the room and a private bathroom.

> Unfortunately after returning from dinner we discovered the air conditioning was on some sort of timer which switched it off every 10 mins or so for more than a hour at a time and the staff had set it so low it was not even close to cooling the room.
> Also the shower in our bathroom had terrible pressure and heated up only momentarily before running freezing cold. Only turning it off fully and re-starting the process allowed my partner and I to have showers and this was the case when we first arrived (which the staff blamed on a power issue) and first thing the next morning.

That evening I phoned the staff contact number to have the air conditioning switched back on and was informed it was an earlier power issue and would come on soon. I also spoke about the shower and at that time and she suggested half of our payment could be returned due to the inconvenience, but when i spoke to her again in the morning this was not offered.

When checking out I spoke to the same young lady on the desk and was informed they felt, no matter what i reported to them, that there was no issues at all. They went on to suggest that the air conditioning unit in our private room in-fact cooled the entire site and the temperature was set to suit every room, not just ours. She went on to deny knowing of any issue with the shower which i had discussed the night before.

The staff had a poor attitude to customer issues and therefore we would never stay again nor advise anyone to.

My partner and i have traveled extensively throughout the UK, Europe and Australia and have never come across this attitude from staff.

I was quite surprised to find the motel to be clean and convenient. It looks like it has been recently refurbished and the room was exactly like the pictures on the website! Accommodation isn't cheap in Byron Bay but this motel was reasonably priced around the 100 mark. It was walking distance into town, where there are plenty of shops and restaurants. The motel has disabled access for the front two units (but it may be a tad noisier as that is closer towards the road). Front desk was friendly. It was a pleasant stay, particularly if you're only staying a couple of days and just need a place to sleep.

I traveled in a group of 4 and booked 2 rooms (both with a queen bed). We made a very last minute booking at Dolphins as our previous accommodation was canceled due to unforeseen circumstances. This turned out to be quite a comfortable stay. The place was nice and quiet, with free-wifi. Receptionists were extremely friendly and made sure we had all we needed. Considering the sky high prices of other accommodations in Byron Bay, Dolphins is definitely value-for-money. It is a basic, no-frills place that is more than good enough if you aren't going to spend much time in your room.

We went to Byron for two nights to attend a wedding and needed a comfortable, inexpensive place to sleep. We chose Dolphins after reading TripAdvisor reviews. What a good decision and what a little gem this motel is! Close enough to town centre, but far enough away to avoid the crowds. Easy to access and wide car spaces. Spacious grounds and shaded pick-nick tables. . The ample sized room, which was very clean and fresh, is well fitted out with split system aircon, large bar fridge, microwave, toaster and kettle. There is a large screen TV and DVD player mounted on a hinged arm, wall bracket. The Queen bed was very comfortable and the room was very well lit (many high end accommodations could benefit from this). The large en suite had a roomy shower with a good shower-head any good water pressure. Right next door, Mac's Milk-bar serves good coffee and delicious breakfast and burgers (can recommend the gluten free buns). The icing on the cake, at Dolphins as many other reviewers have stated, is the standard of all of the management and staff. They are exceedingly pleasant and helpful, from check-in, through to check-out. Nothing was a problem and smiles all round. Thanks for a wonderful stay and we hope to revisit in the future.
