Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Have stayed here twice recently. Both very bad experiences. The most recent stay I was informed (after the check in process) there was no working air con in our room. And they wouldn’t fix it until after our stay. After i complained we got a $150 voucher for the bar. The refused to reduce the room rate at all. We had no choice as Byron had no other rooms. They also refused to swap rooms for us for our second night. Seems the manager had it in for us. The second night was so hot. The toilet was running the internet and tv weren’t working properly. We complained again. The person working that night was unaware and appalled the manager (Jane) had checked us into the room at all and said we would receive a full refund for our stay given the other issues with the room. Sure enough the refund never came. We complained to booking.com. The manager Jane refused. And denied we were ever offered it. This hotel is a glorified backpackers and is so run down and badly managed. The manager has a chip on her shoulder it would seem to. Stay elsewhere. Won’t be long before it for sale again I suspect.

We visited the hotel twice over our stay in Byron Bay, once for lunch and once for dinner. Both times the food was delicious and service was fantastic. We enjoyed the cocktails and the live entertainment. The bar staff were exceptional even during the busiest and noisiest times.

We stayed here for three nights and did not sleep a wink all three nights - the room next door was clearly the party room with loud music, screaming and shouting into the the small hours of the morning - every morning. The room is so retro it’s like time travel with nothing having been done since the place was built. The only positive is the remarkable location and fabulous views. This hotel has buckets of potential that is resolutely unrealised.

I had given up on the beachie entirely from having sooo many bad nights there, but I thought I’d try one more time last night cause my mate hadn’t been to Byron before, never will make this mistake again! the beach hotel has ruined my night way to many times to count now. The security guards are the worst people you will ever meet

I have fond memories if this pub. My issue is the beer tasted like the glasses had not been washed properly. My companions also agreed it was not right. If the glasses aren’t clean, what else are they not cleaning properly? We skipped dinner there. I’ll go somewhere else next time I’m in Byron.

Just paid over 31AUD for 1 pint of lager and 1 schooner of ginger beer. Gobsmacked. Never paid this before. Had to double check that this was correct. Absolute rip off. Avoid at al costs unless you’re prepared to remortgage.

$13 for a schooner of Stone & Wood. $15.50 for a schooner of Alcoholic Ginger Beer. Bloody hell!!! Trying to recoup the 85 million they spent on it. Went to North Byron hotel the next day. $9 for a schooner of Stone & Wood. Free parking, plenty of seating and a lovely atmosphere. I have been going to the Beach Hotel for many years. I will not be going again.

I found this pub dirty, overpriced and undue wait times. I looked up reviews, which were to the same effect. Now I get targeted adverts sent at me (because I accessed the disparaging reviews). Someone has paid too much for this place, and is trying to get cash back quick, hurting the public and the local community reputation. Show your disfavour with your feet and cash. Spend elsewhere

We’ve always loved the Beach Hotel. But we were disappointed with the state of the place this time. The feeling of filth throughout was just terrible. From the floors, dead plants, furnishing, and a crazy tpee style marquee not only blocks the view but an extreme hazard and to the toilets that don’t even have working locks. So hope management and owners see this and snap into action so we can have the beautiful Old Beachy back!

Went to the beach hotel with the family, service was nice from most of the staff but the brunette manager "Elaine"? Was really condescending when asking for a double gin and tonic, I was surprised at her attitude towards her staff members! :(
