Clean tidy cabins with all needed appliances. Superior cabin had lovely views over a lake with eels and water dragons. 2 pools well maintained and were safe for kids to use, however they closed at 7 pm which is a little early over summer holidays when it’s hot. Water Park was awesome. Beach was a 15 minute walk along main road. It was too far to walk to town and parking was impossible in Byron Bay. Fire oven pizza was delicious and awesome for kids.

Unfortunately large trees over car parking area at cabin meant car was covered in bird droppings every day. While free wifi was advertised out of our 3 cabins connectivity was intermittent and most were unable to connect to it!

Booking was done through Booking.com and while 2 cabins were together 1 was on the other side of the park, there was a phone call made about the booking and we were reassured they were close. The superior cabin had a second unit that sleeps 4 and there was the same in the next cabin. As a Christmas booking it would have been much better to place everyone together, which they were unable to do when we booked in.

Some issues while we there after rain with drainage and sewerage which were quickly attended to.
Overall a good stay but would seek alternatives.

Pro’s:
°Nice location and close to the shops
°Modernised amenities
°Pool and Waterpark were great especially for kids
°Grounds kept nice and tidy
°Very secure with gates and fences

Con’s:
°Sites are too far from amenities - The amenities we were assigned to seemed to be surrounded by cabins with people who didn’t need to use them
°Amenities weren’t cleaned enough especially during this pandemic - Soap dispensers were empty pretty much the whole time I was there, some toilets had no toilet paper for days, one morning there were muddy footprints all over the toilet lid which was still there the afternoon of the next day, had a shower with somebody else’s band aid and chewing gum, laundry room floor was dirty and smelt and had out of order machines.. The ones that worked had dirt in the drum and under the seals.. Someone had washing in the sink which had been there a few days and people’s washing was allowed to be left out overnight and even days
°WiFi was terrible - no connection on our site and when we did get it nearer the reception, it was intermittent and slow
°Our site backed onto the main road with a lot of traffic noise

Toilets are few and far between and far too few for the number of people who stay.

The amenities blocks need to be cleaned more frequently, especially if they are going to be used by children unsupervised.

I went to use the toilets near the waterpark. Faeces on the seat and on walls.....for a day and a half. Unacceptable.

The park itself has a mixture of updated and older amenities and facilities.

We booked a premium powered site but turned up and were backing onto the unpowered sites. A group of backpackers had single tents everywhere, music blaring, using our power and walking through our campsite to get to the amenities. I went to the front counter and was immediately swapped sites to the opposite side against a fence which was HUGE shady and perfect.

There is a huge amenities block brand new which was fantastic but was across the other side of the park. (A 5min walk or two min bike ride) and didn’t bother us in the slightest. (Only when I had to carry my washing up there) A smaller block near the pools which was also excellent and a block that was filthy and gross in our area which we NEVER used.

The pool area is amazing with fantastic cabanas. A older style pool was actually my kids fav as it was never busy, a great temp and had three cabanas. Just looks a bit “forgotten about”.

They need to shut the park down a few days and clean up the “tips” hidden behind fences - old cars, chairs, whatever really seems to just get thrown there. Lots of really old and run down permanent cabins which do ruin the general feel of the park.

I loved we could drive 5mins to a servo, IGA, bottle shop, chemist and bakery without going into town. Its perfect to drive two mins to a free all day parking and pay $8 return to catch Solar train into town.

The parking at the front area was horrific when towing and checking in as everyone who goes to The Folk cafe (which is the absolute BOMB) seem to park wherever they want.

The fences need a gurney and were covered in years of spider webs which was really nothing just an eye sore.

The cabins look amazing.

The Pizza Shack that opens at 430pm was the best.... and saved us many an evening when we couldn’t be bothered cooking and girls were starving.

The girls were desperate for a playground.

We will definitely go back.

Had a great stay here overall. Splash park is great for kids and adults alike. Location is perfect for heading into the Centre and exploring around the wider area. Cabin could do with a few extras which we found lacking such as cloths to wipe the surfaces and no hand soap in the bathrooms or kitchen. The room with the bunk beds doesn’t have a fan on the roof and our kids did find it quite warm but there is aircon in the living room and a fan in the master which was good.

Outside of the school holidays it’s a relaxing place to stay. I stayed in the cabin area of the park but went for a walk and the camping areas looked lovely and well grassed. I was given a free cabin upgrade to a superior cabin overlooking the lake which was a delightful surprise. The cabin was relatively new, comfortable and quiet. TV in both the lounge and bedroom. Aircon that worked well. All windows had screens to keep flys and mosquitoes out. The kitchen had a full size fridge. There are two lovely pools and a new water park for kids and a full size tennis court. It’s a 30 minute walk along the cycle way into Byron Bay so at night I drove as it’s not lit but I did see people riding bicycles at night which would be the perfect way to get around. It would be busy during school holidays but with 2 camp kitchens and being spread out around a couple of lakes it should be ok. I’ll be back again.

Stayed in a cabin at the park. Cleary hadn’t been cleaned as the floors were filthy including toenails and clumps of hair. Also found food stuck to the walls. Complained to management who supposedly checked it out and then said it had been cleaned. Complained again this time showing photos, to which someone came down and gave it a quick mop (food still left on walls).

Emailed both the admin of the park and then Discovery Park admin and received no response from either.

Terrible service and will avoid at all costs next time.

I think it is absolutely appalling that this company will send out a mass email to Year 12 students that have already paid their deposits for cabins for their schoolies trip because a “larger third party schoolies group” now wants to book out the park. 80% of the students going to Byron Bay have now been forced to find accomodation at such short notice with no word whether they’ll be getting their deposit back but i guess it’s alright because you’ve offered “ ONE NIGHT FREE”. If i was you i would feel terribly embarrassed for your brand.

A group of friends and myself had booked a cabin in February 2021 to stay in for two weeks in November - December. Today we received an email declaring that our booking has been cancelled due to a “larger third party schoolies group” booking out the whole park which overrides all the year 12 students who have booked this park for there schoolies trip. My friends and a whole bunch of other year 12s are now forced to go looking for different accomodation which is extremely difficult when schoolies is 4 months away and everywhere is booked out. Due to Covid the 2021 schoolies students will more than likely not be able to travel across boarders so for the discovery park byron bay to cancel our schoolies booking 4 months out is extremely selfish and greedy. I will not be placing a booking with this caravan park ever again!!

The safari tents were comfortable with a modern bathroom, good heating (and I assume cooling) and good BBQ. We loved the park including the great facilities. It was walking distance to a small shopping centre with an IGA and also walking distance to Stone and Wood Brewery. The beach is about 1.5km away.
