One of the main reasons for us to stay at Briar's was - apart from the room - the dinner at the restaurant. But times change, sometimes not for the better. The list of appetisers has shrunk to 4, and the previously innovative selection has disappeared. The vegetables/salad selection was equally poor. But the worst part was my crumbed fish...

Whilst the room was clean and neatly presented it was just a motel room although the split level gave it an upmarket feeling and more space if more than just two people. The issue was the heating as it was the start of winter with a cold snap that Bowral is well known for - the problem was the wall...

The room itself was extremely well designed and appointed. The bistro within the inn however was quite disappointing and would only rate as ordinary "pub food" - although the staff were friendly and polite.

We stayed two nights for a friends' daughters wedding, the staff, the room, everything was great. We had dinner at the Inn on Friday night, fantastic food, great staff, the place was packed. The view from our room was fantastic, the ducks on the lake, all types of bird life, lovely rolling hillsides with the greenest grass I have ever...

My husband and I had a great stay last weekend 7/8th May, it was a great getaway from City life. Greeted by nice friendly staff, our room was tastefully decorated, we had lovely views of the lake with its wild ducks that were a joy to watch while having a coffee in the morning and a wine in the evening...

There are many better, cheaper guesthouses in the area to stay at. Briars is riding off its longstanding name, but the rooms need some work. Mattress and pillows uncomfortable, bathrooms daggy, breakfast not very nice at all. We noticed many other quaint little guest houses along our travels that we wish we had looked into instead. For $300+ per night,...

When I read trip adviser review on this place last week I found it mixed & quite contradictory. Having stayed there a night, I know why. Like last week's review I read: we really enjoyed our 18hrs accom & meals there; BUT Booked a fortnight ago & not able to get reply by email about whether a cooked breakfast &...

We visited the Southern Highlands for a party, and were very happy with our overnight accommodation at Briars Lodge. The room was well designed and attractively decorated. The outlook was beautiful - opening onto a grassed area and overlooking the lake. The whole complex was attractive and well cared for. It looked like a beautiful venue for weddings too. It's...

The rooms were a lovely surprise. Spacious with 3 steps leading down to a small sitting area. The doors opened up to view the pond and ducks-perfect if you have children who can enjoy running about. We played tennis and ate at the inn. The room was heated to perfection and the huge bed so comfortable. The only downside our...

we had a family lunch here in honor of my wife's 60th birthday. we had our own function room which was good and the menu was typical pub type cuisine which was plentiful and consistent quality. Not "wow" but no complaints either.
