Detailed Reviews
My Husband and I had an overnight stay for a quick romantic getaway on a Thursday night. We were looking forward to sitting by a nice log fire with a drink by the bar as advertised on the website. On arrival, we were told the bar was closed and not opened on a week night, to later find a large amount of people gathered or more like packed in like cattle, with no masks for a conference in the bar area. It appears that the Hotel does not encourage, nor practice COVID safety. Later in the evening around 1:30AM, conference guests were sitting out the front of our room in the hallway having a impromptu party which kept us both awake. For a fee of $460 per night, my expectations were certainly not met. We were given a small discount down to $400 after discussing with reception, however that would most likely be the value of the Breakfast that we did not eat.

Accommodation is very comfortable, rooms are large but try to avoid a disabled room. The bathroom is well designed to accommodate a reduced mobility guest but is inconvenient for most other guests. The hotel is under new management so service was somewhat lacking while new staff and management settled in. We had dinner at the hotel and arriving at 7:45 PM we waited till nearly 9:00 PM for our meal to be served. Waiters are friendly and polite but that does not make up for the wait.

I had a wonderful stay at this modern and well priced hotel. The hotel is situated adjacent to the Bowral Golf course with beautiful views over the lake and the golf course from some of the rooms,(don't forget to ask for a room with this when booking). The rooms are well appointed and clean. There is an indoor pool and a nice restaurant and bar.
Bowral is just a short drive or a very pleasant walk to this beautiful small town in which you can enjoy the many attractions that are available, to name a few. The Don Bradman cricket museum, Corbet Gardens which has a great tulip festival once a year,Mount Gibraltar, and a very nice main street that is perfect for browsing the many quaint shops and restaurants.

Fawlty Towers was a better hotel.
Let's start with the positive.
The Bed was great.
And that's where the positivity ends.
The bathroom floor was dangerously slippery.
The Breakfast experience was atrocious. Who in their right mind would have rostered 1 yes ONE waitstaff on the Sunday of a long weekend.
We eventually received our coffee 45 minutes after we ordered it.
We decided not to avail ourselves to the buffet, because there was no food in the trays. They ran out of everything, no bread, no juice no water. The spreads were in jars that had one knife between them, so you had a choice of Vegemite strawberry jam or Vegemite marmalade. Mmmm nice.
So we waited for over an hour for our poached eggs with uncooked bacon and soggy bread. $25 x 2
The extras of mushrooms ($6) avocado ($6) hashbrowns($6) and tomatoes ($6) with 2 coffees totalled $84.00
The tables were filthy, and people were ignored.
Oh when we brought our experience to the attention of the Reception Manager , they blamed DAYLIGHT SAVING.
UNBELIEVABLE

Dear GabbaTheGeek. Thank you for taking the time to review your stay here at Park Proxi Bowral. We are pleased that you found the bed comfy but are very disappointed to hear the rest of your feedback. Having looked at the bathroom floors we have since organised none slip mats for all of our bathrooms to address this situation. Whilst this does not make your experience better i hope you understand that your feedback has been taken and we have addressed the situation. We have also looked into the breakfast offering with the Food and Beverage Operators and improvements have been made to ensure we do not receive this feedback moving forward. I am sorry that you had this experience and i thank you for taking the time to give feedback as we use it to continue to evaluate our offering. kind regards Hotel Management

We stayed two nights at the Park Proxi Hotel Bowral and enjoyed the whole experience. We brought a package deal which include a dinner @ Lotus restaurant and pre dinner drinks at Harvey Bar. The deal also included a picnic lunch basket which we found to be excellent as it was very generous and the food perfect.
Location - 5 minute drive into Bowral village with an array of cafes and restaurants. Approximately 90 mins drive from Sydney.
Room - We booked the executive suite which was very spacious with an extremely comfortable king size bed. The balcony overlooked the golf course and pretty mountain scenery.
Bathroom - huge with bath and walk-in shower. All immaculately cleaned with good quality products.
Lotus Restaurant - We dined here twice over our stay. One night was included in our package deal which was a set banquet menu. Some of us had dietary issues and the kitchen were very happy to change and alter the menu to suit us. Our other meal we opted for different dishes which were all delicious. The dumplings were some of the best we have had in a long long time.
Harvey Bar - Great cosy bar for pre dinner drinks.
Breakfast - A little slow, however we all decided to order off the menu which we found to be excellent. The country style Buffett was well stocked and had plenty of variety.
Golf course - 18 holes. We only played 9 and found the course to be good although a little hilly.
Overall - a fun weekend with friends in a boutique style hotel offering spacious roomy rooms. One friend booked the ambassador suite which was fabulous if looking for more space and separate rooms.

Carry all out stuff up to level 2 and right at the other end to the lift.
Advised that hotel restaurant was not open on Sunday, but also found out not open till Wednesday, our stay was Sunday to Friday.
At a glance the room was clean, until you open something or notice the windows and carpet edges.
Housekeeping staff very friendly.
After a long drive on our first night went to Harvey’s bar for a drink and food, drinks were good, food was awful, I had prawns and pasta, past ok Prawns old fishy and we’re like they had been warmed up rather than freshly cooked, same with hubbies steak, they cut it partially in half to check if it was cooked properly and was overcooked and barely edible, chips were reheated KFC chips by the looks of it.
Breakfast is where this apparent 4* hotel comes into its own, two domestic toasters which is not big enough for the bread, both plugged into one power board along with a domestic Bain Marie which tripped three times whilst we were there on the first morning, not much to choose from in regards to bread or cereal, I only saw weetbix and coco pops, hot water was provided for tea in a thermos so the water was not at all hot. Did not have breakfast here despite being included in the room price, you could order aaa hot breakfast but it was extra, when yo7 have already paid $25 each for breakfast why do we have to pay extra? We had booked with Luxury Escapes and lodged a complaint on Monday, still to get a response.
We booked 5 nights but left early after hubby was locked out on Wednesday night his card did not work.
I would not recommend this hotel at all.

What a disappointment, the hotel used to be great. Service is now completely non existent, yet the prices reflect something else. The hotel is out of town, but the only food options are in the restaurant. No room service, no mini bar items, no decent coffee, no bar open except for Friday and Saturday.
The rooms lack attention with the fridge leaking, the toilet leaking, and mould in the shower. The staff have no idea how to make guests feel welcome or special, and the overall feel is drab and lacklustre.
If booking online through the hotel website, adding breakfast was over $200 more for 2 people yet upon arrival was told it’s $20 per person if you book online, otherwise $35 per head. Hence,we went and bought a box of cereal. Overall bitterly disappointed on what was supposed to be a special birthday celebration. Total waste of a large sum of money.

I booked this hotel for a business trip. The photos on their website over sell this property. The public areas are clean and offer a nice experience, however when you get out of the lift onto the floor above it changes.....the carpet is bare and fraying all the way down the long hallways, I walked into my room and was overcome with a 'damp/mouldy' smell, the carpet had not been cleaned to a standard expected and the walls needing immediate updating.
When I ordered room service I was told I would have to collect it myself from the bar! I collected my meal and then walked a very long way back to my room with a tray of food and glass of wine (not easy) to find my swipe card did not work. I had to leave my tray outside my room (getting cold) and return to reception to have it sorted. There was no apology, just a 'try this' attitude.
The bathrooms are very large, stark and cold. When getting ready for bed the sink tap began gushing water from the wall connection. I used towels to mop up the water and eventually got it to stop. When telling reception the next day it needed fixing she didn't even bother to note it down.
I noted bus tours are using this venue, I hope they were getting it a discount. My accommodation was over $300 for the night not including dinner!
My advice - stay somewhere else!

My wife and I stayed at the Gibraltar Hotel Bowral as a special treat for ourselves. To make it even more special we booked into a suite. The size of the suite was truly exceptional, with a large lounge dining area; a large bedroom with a monstrous bed; a very large bathroom with a spa bath, toilet and shower; and a separate toilet. We definitely hit the mark with the space we had – we have seen apartments with less room! There were also two large TV’s, one in the lounge room and the other in the bedroom. We were able to hook up to the TV with Chromecast so we could watch our own TV subscriptions, which is much better than the poor choice of TV usually offered by hotels.
The staff were very courteous and helpful, although no assistance was provided to get to our room, which was a very long walk from reception.
However, we were very disappointed with our stay at Gibraltar Hotel Bowral. The general condition of the hotel is rundown with evidence of a lack of maintenance. The level of poor care carried through to room cleaning. We spotted things on the floor which remained through our three days stay. This included a dead bug on the floor in the toilet, it was there when we arrived, and still there when we left! The coffee table had crumbs which were swept into a pile on the first night and there was a biscuit piece on the floor under the table (none of which we dropped) and remained for our stay.
As for poor maintenance, the bathroom sliding door was very difficult to move, it took a lot of effort to open and close. The toilet door was also difficult to close as it was binding. The windows had not been cleaned in a long time and had a good collection of spiders on the outside.
The size of the dining room would have made having a meal at the dining table (with easy seating for 4 people) a comfortable option, however, the hotel does not offer any room service nor is there any eating utensils.
Despite having a huge space, the suite was very badly laid out. The refrigerator was one of the smallest I have seen in a hotel, apart from a single room “donga”! It totally lacked space for even basic necessities – only UHT milk was provided! There was a tiny space for the refrigerator, kettle, and cups and saucers in the BEDROOM. There is a huge space in the Lounge Dining room which would have been far more suitable, leaving the space in the bedroom as a make up table! The extra toilet was lovely and well appreciated, but the fit out was terrible – there was only a toilet a washbasin with NO storage, and a small towel rail with a miserly hand towel. There was not even space to put the soap!
All this should not happen in a suite with a premium cost, let alone a standard room,

My husband and I came to stay for a weekend away. Disappointing. Staff couldn’t find our check in details and did not seem confident at all using the booking system after several other guests checked in. When we finally checked in our room we had dirty towels on the floor and an unclean bathroom. It was clearly not ready for check in. We were then allocated what seemed to be a lower value room but couldn’t be bothered to argue.
There were not enough staff at the bar which was left unsupervised for long periods on a Saturday night…… breakfast was also unorganised and not adequately stocked. There seems to be an obvious gap in training, confidence and ability of the staff. Really not worth the $500+ price tag per night

Dear Guest,
Our indoor pool is heated between 27 and 31 degrees, we do have the 18 hole golf course on site and the Gibbergunyah walk nearby. There are plenty of other places for kids to see in Bowral a short 2 minute drive into the CBD.
I have stayed at a few Peppers and they’re always good. I haven’t stayed at Bowral Peppers though. Gibraltar was excellent however!
Hi hopstepandjump,
Thank you for your interest in our hotel. Yes you can catch a train down to Bowral and you would need to take a taxi from the train station to our hotel. Kindly give the complete address to the driver as noted down on our website and you would well be on your way.
The high tea was included in our package, and was worthwhile being both savoury and sweet foods, and ample in quantity. However, you should check with the hotel to make sure it is included in whatever package you have taken up. We booked for our high tea some weeks before we arrived as there was a group of us, so perhaps you too could book when you phone with the hotel. Have a great time.
Hi
