The Loch guest house is an inspired architectural conversion at the heart of historic Berrima in the Southern Highlands of NSW. Cradled in undulating pastoral landscape our accommodation features industrial design influences, enriched with layers of Victorian opulence and echoes of the estate's equestrian heritage. The generously proportioned suites of our mezzanine guest wing are located above the original stables. Captivating vistas are enjoyed from every room with expansive open plan living areas and a fireplace to retreat to. A pleasant 90 minute drive from Sydney or Canberra The Loch is an idyllic weekend escape or corporate retreat.

Had the most amazing time with my family, teenage kids included at an up close and personal concert with Jimmy Barnes and Family.
The location is simply stunning.. flowers, climbing vines, hedges and beautiful grass areas.
The main house is gorgeous. Like a 5 star converted Barn.
Big wooden doors opening in the middle creates and indoor/outdoor openness and harmony.
The food was amazing.
The service was amazing. Nothing too hard.
The cocktails refreshing, not to mention perfectly made.
A world unto itself. With not a neighbour in sight.
Just the perfect couple escapes and an amazing venue if you’re lucky enough to get tickets to any event there.
Couldn’t recommend more highly.

We stayed here for a few nights between Christmas and the new year and had an absolutely lovely time! Brigid and Lucy are wonderful hosts and ensured that we had everything we needed. The Loch is a farm on lovely acreage with beautiful views, horses and bird life. Our accommodation was part of converted stables with luxury living spaces and an old world feel. Breakfast was fresh and delicious using produce straight from the garden and the freshly baked bread was to die for. The Loch offered us the highland country experience we were seeking yet was only a 5 minute drive from Berrima town and close to other towns plus national parks. We'd love to come back one day!

Having lived in the Southern Highlands now for over 20 years I find The Loch the best dining experience in quite a while. Brigid's meals are always an experience not to forget and can easily compare with anything that Sydney has to offer. I turned up one time unexpected and Brigid organized the most amazing brunch with farm fresh eggs. Fully recommend The Loch.

The Loch seems to reasonably popular so we decided to give it a go as something different. In summary it was a major disappointment. We were sat on the verandah which was nice until the sun dipped a bit and it quickly became freezing. We relocated in doors and it was a bit better but the fire to warm the place was out and not tendered to, but at least there was no wind. The $65 two course meal is well over priced.
The tasting platter eventually arrived, it was nothing to get too excited about, the main meal eventually came about an hour later. This was very ordinary, the food was barely warm, to make matters worse my wife who asked for the lamb ended up with a plate of pure fat, no meat. This was returned and replaced, the cook acknowledging she should not have been served this, however she was and that was unacceptable. The pork was OK, nothing special, the potatoes that came with it were overdone (burnt). The we came to the desert to be told that what we ordered long ago no longer was available. It was noticed that the table next to us had seconds in desert including what we had asked for so it seems that our food went their way. Any way we had what was left which was a cold apple and rhubarb pie that was only apple and pastry.
I understand they were low on staff that day and the young girl serving worked her butt off and was very apologetic, but that is no excuse for delivering high priced poor quality allegedly farm to table produce to customers.
I will not go there again, sorry I showed up the first time.

I do not recommend this place at all! We stayed there with friends and we were forced to leave early due to very unhygienic conditions. The place was smelly, they did not service the rooms and they had micro bats flying in the communal living area, if the door or window was left open. We had to fight a bat to get out of the living room for hours! The worst of it is when we tried to get some milk from the fridge and encountered the fridge in a totally unhygienic condition, with food lying around in pots with no lids. One morning I saw a mouse getting into the fridge and I had enough. I was out of there. When we asked to be refunded, the stubborn owner refused to do so and instead she started threatening us with all kinds of threats. We will have to file a dispute in order to get our money back. Absolutely the worst experience.

I'd had a good lunch here in December, so chose it as the venue for a birthday celebration this month. Unfortunately, on the day there were only two wait staff to serve my table of 36 and half a dozen other tables of two to eight people each. This meant long waits between courses, surly service on the part of one waitress (the other was very friendly and obliging), nobody to take away empty bottles and replace them and mistakes in orders. I'd been looking forward to a long lunch but this was way too slow, so that some of my guests had to leave before dessert arrived and when I went to ask for our coffee to be served, I discovered it had been sitting on a sideboard until it was bitter and cold. The venue itself is such a lovely garden setting, but words can't really express how disappointed I was that the food and the service were such a letdown.

We have read your review and disappointed that after many email requests from you leading up the event, you choose the public domain to critique. On the day when you arrived you had previously requested for some time (about 30 minutes) to walk through the garden before being seated. After almost an hour everybody was finally seated. Immediately you and your guests were served their tasting plate. We understand that being in such beautiful surroundings that people like to take the time and enjoy the fare. Our staff asked several times if they could clear plates for the service of the mains to commence. All guests were served within 5 minutes of clearing once we were given permission. We provided all the wines you had personally selected for your event and these were made available on each of your guests table so there would be no wait on the drink service. From the time we cleared the mains and prepared coffee and cake to be served you were nowhere to be found. As arranged, previously the coffee was requested to be put on the side for your guests as mentioned already you were absent for quite some time so your coffee would have gone cold. Also we provided a birthday cake free of charge, we were trying to coordinate your dessert, coffee and cake service at the same time and for you to blow out the candles, however as mentioned, you were no where to be found. As the mains were served on platters, the staff numbers were correct. Again, we’d like to reiterate that we spoke with you many times in the lead up to your birthday lunch and would have appreciated if you had provided your constructive criticism directly to us. It shows a real lack of understanding from your guests knowing we had other patrons to attend to during our lunch service and that the delays caused were due to your own doing.

My family and I visited The Loch for their Fungi Field Day Lunch and WOW it was sensational. The menu was a fungi extravaganza. Brigid had put together a feast from local ingredients with an international flair. The tempura oyster mushrooms and the Gruyere fondue with truffle shavings were my favourite, they were delicious. The weather was glorious and we couldn't have asked for a better day. The staff were attentive and friendly, a special shout out to Merilynne, seeing you made my day :) (and you too Brigid). If you want a special day out, visit The Loch, you won't be disappointed.

We had a very poor experience here about a year ago but thought we'd give them another chance. Huge mistake! As you can see by other reviews they always have an excuse, staff not turning up etc etc. The owner even has the hide to argue with reviewers! But the fact is that it is extremely badly run operation that has no quality control. Our food was nearly inedible and the service was terrible. The staff were so young and inexperienced, not their fault. The staff apologised to us and said the owner was a nightmare and always is. We will never go back it was a complete waste of time and money. I would caution anyone to stay away from this venue.

We had such a wonderful mini honeymoon after our wedding. The property was just beautiful, and Kev and Brigid (and Evie the most adorable border collie) were lovely, as was Carlie who looked after us. Breakfasts were absolutely delicious as well, and the kitchen was fabulous. Thank you for a lovely relaxing stay.

Leo Sayer's performance at the Loch in Berrima was the perfect night out. His singing was fabulous. Brigid's 3 course meal served during the concert was wonderful. The Loch team handled the whole Covid thing superbly. Was a really fun night out. Highly recommend the Loch.

Hi Francisco I'm sorry we aren't able to help on this occasion if I can recommend Jellore cottages as they are lovely people and will do one night. not many places in the Highlands as BNB's do just one night. all the best and pop out to see us on the Sunday for our pop up restaurant in the open gardens. kind regards Brigid
