Even though the motel was older it was very clean, tidy and well appointed.
There was a continental breakfast you could purchase and even a well stocked refrigerator.
Sleep quality was excellent and the shower was great.
The motel is located right in town and is next door to the RSL, nice and close for dinner.
It’s clean, comfie and has everything ya need. Batlow like our area has suffered very badly from the fires and covid limited travel. Support small business……. They are the lifeblood of the country.
Pros
Great position, walk to the clubs, pub and supermarket
Quiet rooms.
Cons
A very modest hotel that is overpriced. I guess the lack of options in Batlow means they can set their own price.
We had a king bed which was 2 beds pushed together, one mattress was 2 inched higher than the other so not very comfortable.
Our room needed a good dust and the bathroom tiles could do with a squirt of bleach.
The lawns needed mowing and the whole motel felt a bit unloved :(
This used to be the Diggers Rest which I stayed at a few years back, when it was in extremely poor condition, run down with spiders webs all over the rooms.
2013 and Apple Inn owners have worked hard to 'out with the old, in with the new'. It's freshly painted, new beds, new linen, clean and sparkling. The managers appear to be locals who are extremely friendly and helpful.
A couple of downsides. They are missing net type curtains to allow the heavy curtains to be opened, with no outsiders looking in. Clock radios are also a necessity. However, I will allow these indescretions, as they are still building on the good work they have done, to turn this place around.
If you travel with food basics, you can make brekkie in your room as crocker/cutlery & toaster are provided in the room. Or you may purchase a brekkie basket from the office.
There are no leftovers from the run down DR. I would definitely suggest the APPLE INN at Batlow.
As expected it was very cold after dark but the Inn is well placed next to the RSL which has a very good Chinese restaurant within so we could walk. The rooms have been refurbished thoughtfully and continue the Apple theme. Batlow is famous for its apples. Our room near the main road side had a delightful closed courtyard running off the room for extra privacy.Continental breakfast baskets are available for $10 at front desk but on the other side to the Inn is an historic cafe with wood fire open every day except Sundays. If only other small towns could boast of such a lovely comfortable and affordable place to stay. It was a good base to then see the lovely countryside and drive via Adelong (v historic Australian Gold town) to reach the Sydney- Melbourne highway. So we agree with the helpful reviews we read before booking.
The managers are very helpful ... with expert advise. The bakery nearby is an excellent place for breakfast and we enjoyed the Chinese at the RSL next door for dinner.
Batlow is a very picturesque town and the APPLE INN is a central part of it.
