This hotel has so much potentials it's a shame that it's run in this way. From our experience it was so bad that it was in a way comical. From poor service, not being set up as agreed, holding back pre paid drinks, insulting remarks about the Cornish, terrified staff the list goes on and on!

We arrived at the hotel and were greeted politely and directed to our room. We arrived to the room at which point I really wanted a shower to freshen up, however the shower was in a very low corner bath and there was barely any water pressure, so I ended up just washing my face as it was pretty pointless...

Another good stay at the Porth Avallen Hotel. Well looked after by the friendly staff and our our bedroom overlooked Carlyon Bay, which was a great view when we woke in the morning.Ideally situated for the many places of interest in Cornwall.

great evening due to the company and secret santa gifts. food was small portions and when asked for a bread roll was told it was only given with soup, was promised a quiz and a disco. no quiz and no disco just a guy with a lap top playing a poor selection of karaoke versions of songs. what a let...

We had a fabulous Christmas Party here but that was down to the company and not the hotel. If you are after a really small portion of luke warm food, a bread roll so hard it could shatter your teeth, under staffed waitresses who are rushed of their feet and to top it all their very own Basil Fawlty behind...

The hotel was very quiet but we were looked after well. Breakfasts were individually cooked to order and piping hot. Our room was warm and clean with a nice bathroom. Both our room and the restaurant have stunning views over the bay. The hotel was being re-painted while we were there but this did not detract from our enjoyment. In...

Hi I am actually going to write a wee review about a place I haven't stayed in! I just wanted to leave a short review about this hotel,as I couldn't let what took place pass without comment. So on the 15th September we arrived at this charming hotel only to find it was full,so the very very friendly lady at...

Stayed here for a week for business. The single room was compact and bijou to be polite. There was paint peeling off the walls in the corner and the beach must have some pebbles missing as they were filling the pillows. The single bed, yes some hotels still have single beds, was very narrow but reasonably comfortable. Can't fault the...

It's such a shame - this hotel could be so much better! Staff very friendly and food (breakfast) was good. Public rooms are attractive, but accommodation lets them down.. Occupied a 'luxury sea view room', certainly the location is great and the views across the bay are gorgeous. However, the room was not luxurious. The decor was tired and dated...

What a lovely location for a hotel. Some rooms overlooking the sea, we stayed in room 33 which you could get a side view of the sea. Comfortable room with good facilities. The dining room and bar also overlook the sea. Hotel is yards away from the Coastal Path which is excellent if you are a walker. You can walk...
