On a recent trip to St Austell, l booked a one night stay for my husband and l at The Gables guest house. On our arrival we were greeted by Barbara, like long lost friends! Also greeted by Fudge..a beautiful labradoodle!!!. We were shown to our room and bathroom, both of which were absolutely immaculate. Had a great nights sleep...

Loved The Gables. Food was superb, room small but comfortable and everything immaculately clean. Barbara and Mike were hospitable, friendly, welcoming and full of information. Lovely garden. Cornwall is easier with a car, but the walk into town was pleasant and we were able to get buses to take us everywhere. Hard to leave!

Myself and my husband spent a lovely week at the Gables. Barbara and Mike are a fabulous couple who greeted us like long lost friends. They gave suggestions for places to visit during our stay that we hadn't thought of, they have a great knowledge of the area. The breakfasts were amazing, I adored the pancakes especially. Our room was...

Very clean, fresh hot breakfast. Hosts very helpful. Lovely scenery from the window. Room was small but adequate and bed comfortable. Busy road though quite at night. Bus to Eden project or station across the road. 30 minutes walk to station. Not always easy to get a taxi so if you want one book one in advance. Trains frequent and...

We have just returned from a lovely few days in Cornwall. Our stay at The Gables was a very pleasant one all down to the lovely owners Barbara and Mike. From the minute we arrived we were made to feel very welcome. The house was lovely and the garden was beautiful. A big plus was that the guest house had...

I was looking for a late room for a business trip with just two days notice, somewhere to sleep after a long drive but not too expensive. I found the Gables Guest House on line and called them. They were very helpful and friendly and had the personal service a hotel does not have. They had a perfect single room...

The owners were very welcoming and friendly. They easily coped when we requested to change rooms to one with a bath and did it with a smile on their face. The Guest House is very clean and comfortable, and breakfast was superb. Would highly recommend!!!

Just came back from a short break in Cornwall, celebrating our first wedding anniversary, and this was a fantastic place to stay. Great location - both easy to find and good distance to local attractions like The Eden Project and neighbouring beaches. Rooms were beautiful and spotlessly clean. We stayed in the Penwarne room and was very happy to see...

We enjoyed our stay with Barbara and Mike, they were very good hosts. They gave us plenty of tips on where to eat out and places to visit, Mevagissey and Fowey being our favourites. Barbara is a very good cook, her full English breakfasts set us up for the day. On returning each evening our room had been cleaned and...

I guess the two things you want when you stay B&B is good clean comfortable accommodation and a good breakfast. The Gables scores top marks on both. Handy location if you're thinking of visiting Eden Project and the Lost Gardens or just passing through. Barbara and Mike are two of the nicest folk you could wish to meet.
