The welcome was friendly enough but the bar snacks, Ploughmans and Sandwiches were poor and expensive. I mean, who has 2 slices of white bread, without any butter, with a Ploughmans! The doorstop sandwich was impossible to eat.

We were glad we booked for what turned out to be a very good roast beef lunch, with no less than 8 vegetables, including some crispy potatoes. We were even offered more of these.

The food was home cooked and very plentiful. Steak pie was excellent and clotted cream portions good. Coffee was a good standard. The barman was really helpful, letting us taste beers before we chose them.
