This has to be the most tranquil setting I have ever experienced. We arrived on Friday afternoon and was greeted by very friendly staff. We stayed in a 6 sleeper chalet which was very well appointed. Everything was in tip top condition, except maybe the double bed. We unpacked and immediately decided to sit outside and enjoy the breathtaking sunset....

If you want to spend time away from any noise and busy cities, this place is perfect for relaxation. The hiking trails are a must ( it is hot in the summer so cover up ). The night sky though is the main reason this place is so incredible. With no light pollution, Kagga Kamma offers a spectacular star gazing...

The Cederberg is truly amazing. The weather is sunny with clear skies, there is complete silence at night and the rock art is wonderful to see but the accommodation at Kagga Kamma has not been updated in the 6 years since we were there last. The real winner is the remoteness of the site and the miracle of the Fynbos....

We booked on a Groupon deal, and were very excited to visit Kagga Kamma as it looked wonderful on the website. We booked to stay in a 'cave' and I called and emailed ahead to let them know that I am a vegetarian as I wanted to make sure that they could cater for me. There are some positives about...

The 2 ladies at reception were very friendly and helpfull! We were six firends (3 couples) that stayed in the Family Unit with 3 rooms and 2 bathrooms (mid September '15). The place was very spacious, neat and well furnished. The inside fireplace came in handy to keep us warm and also for a braai! Although we enjoyed our stay...

A wonderful few days of peace and quiet in a fantastic setting. No TV ,!, no cell phone! Lovely hikes with plenty of evidence of game but unfortunately non seen. Flowers a plenty in amongst the most amazing rock formations. Did 1 of the 3 hikes each day. Take water and food to enjoy a lunch among the rocks, absolute...

It is a place to get still and away from everything. Very limited cellphone reception, so one really gets away. Don't compare this 4 star with something in a city but rather appreciate what they are achieving in this remote environment. All happens with solar energy. The staff is friendly and helpful. The mtb trails are great. Just take extra...

The long drive to Kagga Kamma is part of the adventure - you wonder if you'll ever get there, and than you pass amazing craggy rocky outcroppings and you're there!. Very pleasant staff, good food. We booked one of the thatched huts which was very comfortable and didn't require a climb as some of the caves do - we're in...

Fantastic Fred Flintstone experience. Stayed in a Cave which was warm not heat required, quiet and very well appointed. Staff laid back but welcoming, professional, knowledgable and generous. The Cedarburg and Kouebokkeveldt are some of the most magical places on the planet. We did the star gazer night talk and PJ was most enthusiastic, he also guided us on the...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Kagga Kamma is an absolute treat for travellers seeking a unique and inspiring experience. On your visit you will see a part of Africa that is unlike any other. The Cederberg Mountain’s otherworldly rock formations, a crisp sky stretching endlessly overhead and beautiful rock art from an ancient culture, is the backdrop to a wonderful adventure. Kagga Kamma’s accommodation options are as unique as the landscape it is set in. The Bushman Lodge offers spacious en-suite thatched rondavels/huts. The famous 'cave suites' built against the sandstone rock formations will take you back to a prehistoric time without taking away any modern-day luxuries. Kagga Kamma also offers a one of a kind Outcrop open-air “room” where guests can sleep under the stars in sheer luxury - definitely a not-to-be-missed experience.Speaking of the stars...Take a tour into the milky way when you visit our mini-observatory. It promises to be an inspirational experience when you view the Karoo night skies through our 10-inch telescope. While the sun is out you can opt for a journey back in time with our popular rock art tours. Our expert ranger will interpret the 6000 year old Bushmen paintings and living sites scattered all across the nature reserve.Other activities to be enjoyed at Kagga Kamma include relaxing nature drives with our knowledgeable guides, hiking trails, quad bike safaris, mountain bike trails, a 4x4 route and our Kagga Kamma Relax Spa. Even eating out at Kagga Kamma will be a matchless experience when you visit the restaurant for breakfast and lunch, and an outdoor lapa surrounded by beautiful rock formations for dinner under the starlit night skies in summer time. There is also a pub and lounge area with Wi-Fi internet, as well as satellite television for watching sports events. GPS co-ordinates:Latitude: S 32 44 45Longitude: E 19 33 46 ... more   less
