We've stayed in the Hertzog Suite (the end room) twice now and we will return again! Total privacy -- you never have to see anyone, if you don't want to. The homemade breakfast is delicious, healthy and filling (especially when paired with the generous Amish pastries!). We spent hours resting, watching the light change over the field, reading, talking. This...

The best way to describe this B&B is just different. We were in the original 1786 home in the Metzler Suite which is to the right of the front of the house as you cross a small bridge to get to the 6 steps up to the porch. This is the only room in the original house. The bedroom was...

Don't miss out on this incredible Bed and Breakfast! The setting and view was beautiful! The room was so comfortable and had everything you could need-very private. The food was absolutely incredible - freshly made just for us every day. Kristen was a fabulous host! This is a great place to stay! Be sure to take the tour with Kristen...

I enjoyed staying here. The room was spacious and well appointed and the "private" breakfast (i.e. prepared in advance to heat in the room's microwave) is very good. The locale does not have the charm of other areas in the Pennsylvania Dutch country but would be worth a visit if you really want to get away from it all.

Very nice place to visit, especially in October. The owners are very friendly, as well as knowledgeable about the surrounding area. There's something to be said about farm living! I would highly recommend this place for "city slickers" who need a different perspective on life.

We were looking for a B&B in the Lancaster county area over Labor Day weekend and just happened to find the Hertzog Homestead by chance. It turned out to be one of our nicest stay overs. A combination historic farm turned bed and breakfast by the current owners, it has several lovely suites in fieldstone buildings loaded with many original...

We really loved staying here! It was in a very handy location, peaceful and quiet, but close enough to main roads to make a great starting place to everywhere we wanted to go. The room was appointed with a lot of little personal touches here and there that gave it a real homey feel. I have always been very particular...

Kristen was such a wonderful host. We found the history of the homestead quite interesting. We stayed in the Hertzog Suite and the furnishings and decor were top notch. The room was perfect, we really enjoyed the very private patio and hot tub. The breakfast was fantastic, especially the scrambled egg casserole. It was a treat to enjoy a private...

We loved our 5 night stay at the Hertzog B and B. We stayed in the Metzler Suite. It was spacious, furnished with antiques, nice towels and bedding. Breakfast different every day with wonderful baked goods. Convenient location for all the sites in the area. Scott and Kristen very easy to work with. I wouldn't stay any place else if...

We have stayed at this B&B 3 times, right around our anniversary (July 19th), the first two times in the Metzler suite (original homestead), but this time in the Hertzog suite, which is part of the newly constructed "cottage of suites". It is FIRST class. The in-room breakfasts are top shelf, prepared by the neighboring Amish folks, and the attention...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Built in 1786, the Hertzog Homestead Bed and Breakfast has been in our family for nine generations! Winners of the prestigious National Bicentennial Farm and Home Award in 2006, the home is an excellent example of early Mennonite architecture and history. What makes us different than a normal Bed and Breakfast is our private Amish made breakfast. Enjoy your delicious breakfast in the comfort of your Suite, on your own time! When you arrive, your breakfast for the next morning will have been prepared that morning and place in your fridge. We would also like you to enjoy an assortment of fresh baked goods. Just minutes away from area attractions, museums, outlet shopping, antiquing, and theaters, the homestead offers the tranquility and peace often needed during a vacation. ... more   less
