We were very much looking forward to staying at Black Butte. But my fiancé’s mother unexpectedly passed, so I called to let the hotel know that we wouldn’t make it. The woman on the phone responded “... okay? And you want me to tell the front desk?”. It wasn’t about the money - I told the woman on the phone that I didn’t expect a refund but would appreciate anything they could do for us. She did not offer any kind of condolences and acted like I was imposing on HER for needing to cancel. She then told me she would allow us to have taxes and cleaning fees back, but nothing further. The serious lack of humanity in the hotel’s staff was a major red flag. Train your people to be humans. Not that much to ask.
Booked a reservation and have a confirmed email with price. As the booking was during Quilters Affair week - no other reservations available when this was made. Hotel later called and said there was a pricing error and now won't honor it. They are charging and additional $140. I had cancelled as they won't consider making changes.
Make reservations for this time of year. The Lodge Resturant was celebrating weddings & family reunions that evening. Festive & teaming with life at this favorite family vacation spot. We were taken to a smaller dining room off the main dining room of the Lodge. Dark & dated surroundings but our waitress, Lacee, was exceptional & made up for the feeling of exclusion. Our family made choices that evening which included the French Dip (not up to par, more than a bit chewy & fat marbled) served on a tired choice of white bread. Surprise, the 4oz tenderloin filet, $23, was very good. Our usual preference is the Oregon Rockfish & Chips, $18, which came on a cooled down plate with unflattering looking poppy seed cold slaw. The special of the evening, the Pork Chop,$28, was said to be a very good choice, very tender. My granddaughter order the Coconut Gelato, enough for everyone to enjoy, for desert. We spent a the evening enjoying the live music from the wedding festivities taking place outside on the Lodge’s outdoor deck. We found our experience to be worth remembering as our family has years of traditions at this special place. …
Beautiful property with scenic view of Sisters mountains and forests. 10 minutes to hiking trails, skiing (in season), and town of Sisters. Lodge rooms were very reasonable and family friendly. Within on-property easy walking distance of Lodge Room dining (upscale), Robert's Pub (casual, very good food, drinks, and service), and Broad Meadows Golf course. Be sure to check rooms when registering for info on whether more than one bedroom, if it has a common room for entertaining other guests or playing games, and number of bathrooms. Our selection was one shared bathroom (very clean and everything worked - even at the end-of-season), and two bedrooms, no common room. Our bedroom had fireplace, tv, wifi, coffee maker, and refrigerator in addition to chest of drawers. Other bedroom tv and wifi, with chest of drawers. All comfortable. Plenty of blankets. Welcome center and security at entry. We felt very safe and everyone was very friendly and helpful. Plenty of activities in the area, including horseback and mountain biking, We would definitely stay again.…
Our family came from California up to Black Butte Ranch for my nieces wedding. The setting along the lake was so magnificent! The property was so large that it was hard to find our way around in the dark at first. My family enjoyed the pool and the bikes. Robert’s pub had fantastic food & service. Our family stayed in two different “golf home” homes. (#32 & 146). Each home was lovely but expensive. We stayed three nights. Our home had a coffee pot and filters were in the pantry closet. I always travel with my own coffee, so it worked out great. We only had to wash cloths for one night. Since it was such an expensive place, it seemed odd. Our family in the other house, washed the wash cloths themselves in order to have enough. Their home, did not have a coffee pot and only had a Keurig with pods. My mom was stuck there without any coffee for the first morning until we went shopping for the pods. We enjoyed the setting among the trees & nature. Each house had a nice deck. Black Butte Ranch was a wonderful, but expensive, once-in-a-lifetime experience for our family. Great memories to be had there.…
