Excellently restored. Maintains the character and charm of an historic hotel, but with modern conveniences. Owner was very accommodating and friendly. Very comfortable bed; got a great nights sleep. Rooms on the small side, as befits the history. No food service but reasonably priced restaurants close by in walking distance. A gem!

We stumbled upon Hotel Prairie years ago while passing through and we've been back multiple times. This renovated hotel retains the character of times past, while having the convenience and cleanliness of a newer hotel. The rooms have always been spotless. The front desk people are always friendly and personable. We highly recommend Hotel Prairie!

Our favorite place to stay, when we visit Prairie City. Have booked the whole hotel a time or two for special occasions. It's a beautifully renovated historic hotel, with a charming personality. It's very comfortable, and tastefully decorated in a homey style. Because Prairie City is very small, it's a nice place to stay and just unwind. Especially loved watching...

We drove to Prairie City, Oregon specifically to stay at the historic hotel built in the 1910s. The only problem with the trip is that we were in Prairie City on Monday and most of the eateries and antique stores are closed on Monday and Tuesday. We will return to the Hotel but later in the week.

If you have to stay within an hour drive, this is as good as it gets. But, it is far from many other places. And if you want more nightlife excitement (to the extent that it happens here) John Day is better. If you are seeing John Day Fossil Beds and ate planning to drive west after.... this may not...

During the recent fires I found myself delayed in the John Day area with no where to stay. Every room in John Day was gone and it was late. Then I remembered seeing a billboard for Hotel Prairie in Prairie City near by and called Jenny, the manager was so helpful. She was even willing to wait for me in...

This is our second time staying at the Hotel Prairie and we’ve enjoyed it both times, relaxing, calm and with all the amenities including full kitchen and outdoor back patio for guests to use. Our bed was super-comfortable and good lighting on both sides for comfy readying before sleep. Room clean, sheets fresh and soft to melt into. The staff...

Thank you for taking the time to send in your comments. I am pleased you enjoyed your Hotel stay, but I am sorry your breakfast was not satisfactory. We have just started to try to fill the void when breakfast is not available in town and will definitely take your comments to heart. We hope to see you again.

Amazing service & friendly staff. The rooms are clean, beds are comfortable and the food is outstanding! The atmosphere lends to guests playing guitar in the bar and others singing along. The management are just "good people" no other way to describe them. I wish I could post video to share in the true "comfort" in staying here. I couldn't...

If you find yourself looking for a place to stay while crossing eastern Oregon on Highway 26 look no further than the Hotel Prairie in Prairie City. The hotel has been modernized but its historic character has been well maintained. The clerk was helpful getting us oriented to the hotel and the town. We stayed one night prior to a...

We have stayed at the Hotel Prairie three years in a row now and each year they only get better. First and foremost, the place is so clean you can almost (almost) feel comfortable eating off the bathroom floor. The historic building has been stylishly and comfortably restored in a way that left the original feel and charm of the...
