Located right on the highway through Prairie City, the hotel is perfectly located for a quick trip to John Day or surrounding area. The hotel has a friendly, almost bed and breakfast feel with a common kitchen area with microwave, refrigerator, toaster oven, etc. The room is small as expected for a historic hotel but the bathroom was larger than...

It had been a long day on the road but receptionist Kate was waiting for us full of bubbly excitement which immediately lifted our spirits. We were too late to find much in the way of dinner in town so Kate and the owner, Donna, pulled together a delicious toasted sandwich each for us, some drinks and a bowl of...

We travel to the Prairie City/John Day area every couple of years. When our usual hotel (and many others) were full in mid-June I searched deeper and found Hotel Prairie. It will now be our "go to" place when we are in the area. The hotel has been lovingly restored and decorated. We loved the many different gathering areas, which...

A nicely refurbished small hotel in the town of Praire City Oregon. Amenities include wireless Internet, tv's in the rooms and a very nice beer and wine bar open at 4 pm. A communal kitchen allowed us to unpack our cooler overnight in their full size refrigerator.

We were traveling through Prairie City to camp in Strawberry Basin and decided to stay at the Historic Hotel Prairie after 2 days of camping. It was a genuine treasure to find! Historic charm but renovated for modern comfort. We stayed in Room #4 on the ground floor, whose windows overlook the little garden patio out back, with a private...

This is a wonderful old hotel, it is all renovated but retains the charm of the original building. It is worth the stop if your near Prairie City. We were lucky enough to get the suite, and it was very spacious and comfortable. The town is very small but a few great shops to snoop around in.

The owner Donna has done a fantastic job of renovating this grand old lady. He lobby is comfortable with leather furniture and natural wood floors. The wine and beer bar is beautiful and has a lovely wooden bar. The rooms are updated and comfortable but if the weather is hot I would suggest not staying upstairs. We mentioned that the...

Very quaint, clean and comfortable. Well appointed rooms done in turn of the century style with a beautiful small quilt on the wall in each room. Cute town with lots of history and shops. We will return!

We had reservations last Monday night. We arrived at 3:15 to find the hotel closed with a note on the door about being back at 4 p.m. Another couple arrived shortly after we did...they chose to sit outside and wait. The restaurant/bar down the block was closed that day, so we went across the street to the Mexican restaurant. After...

Thank you so much for providing your concerns; I took immediate action to ensure others did not experience your lack of staff attention. I obviously did not ensure I had enough trained staff on board in time to provide you the service I expect. Things have changed, and I do hope you give us a second chance. Please read other...

We spent one night here on our way to visit the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument. Upstairs room was really spacious and nicely decorated. We enjoyed having use of the kitchen fridge to keep our cooler items cold/frozen overnight and the outdoor patio downstairs was a pleasant place to sit in the afternoon. Really friendly staff. Highly recommended.
