This hotel looks beautiful from the pictures, but isn't quite what we expected and we were a little disappointed. It was decent, but I definitely don't think it was worth the price. The hotel was fairly outdated and the bed was very uncomfortable. I don't usually write bad reviews, but I had wished that someone would have let us know...

Thank you for taking time to review The Mark Spencer Hotel. I must admit, I was a bit surprised that our beds were not comfortable for you. All guestrooms have all new bedding, including new mattresses, sheets, duvets, etc. We receive quite a few comments on the comfort of our beds, and knowing that this is such a personal preference,...

I have written a review in the past (five stars) but want to update since our most recent visit this month. If anything, this wonderful hotel just gets better and better. If you want brass buttons and fancy amenities go elsewhere, but you will be missing a treasure. Again we had a lovely suite, with a spotless kitchen and everything...

Welcome back! It's nice to revisit the many places you enjoy while vacationing. Thank you for including The Mark Spencer Hotel as one of them! Powell's Bookstore is such a haven for anyone who loves books and we're extremely fortunate that they are practically in our front yard! I'm glad you enjoy this Portland treasure. Thank you, too, for the...

We were in Portland for a wedding and the entire wedding party stayed at the Mark Spencer. It was previously an apartment complex. The hotel has been renovated and the rooms are one bedroom efficiencies, complete with small kitchen. The ambience is wonderful and the staff is quite knowledgeable with regard to restaurants and downtown activities.

I have organized two separate 4-day trainings at the Mark Spencer hotel, and both have gone extremely well due to the hard work of the Mark Spencer staff and the wonderful space that the hotel offers. On each occasion I have worked with Dave Spacek. He is friendly, responsive, and works hard to accommodate all of my requests. I left...

Wow! Thank you for taking the time to write a review of our conference services. I will be happy to pass along your kind words to Dave. I'm happy to hear your trainings were a success and that we were able to provide everything you needed. As meals can be a large part of a successful training day (everyone looks...

Stayed here for two nights in October 2013. We arrived early, but our room was already ready and we were allowed to check in early which was great. Room was a good size, clean, comfy bed. Breakfast was included and was a good range and quality. Wifi included and decent quality. Hotel is in a good location in Portland, near...

Thank you for your kind review. I was happy to hear you were able to visit Powells - it's quite a bookstore occupying an entire city block! Some of our guests bring additional luggage to take home all the books they've purchased at Powells. My staff is very knowledgable about all that Portland has to offer and are eager to...

The staff were very helpful on two occasions. They allowed me to check in far earlier than normal due to an early flight. Although they do not have in room safes, they were happy to store two iPads in a secure location since they didn't fit in their safe deposit boxes. The free breakfast in the morning was well stocked...

I'm so happy you were able to have an early check-in. We always try to accommodate our guests needs and try to make all services available to suit individual schedules. One of the many new features in our renovated rooms will be in-room safes. This will allow you to store your valuables inside your guestroom for greater piece of mind....

Loved the Mark Spencer Hotel. We spent a lot of time on tripadvisor trying to decide where to stay in portland and there were lots of hotels that looked great but were out of our price range. We ended up settling on the Mark Spencer and I would have to say I didn't regret it. On check in the girls...

Thank you for such a nice review! I am extremely proud to work with such a friendly, professional staff and am happy to hear you enjoyed your visit with us. As we move forward with the hotel renovations, more and more of the "1950's" furnishings will be replaced with modern, updated kitchens, furniture, bathrooms, etc. The current bedding package is...

Continental breakfast, cookies in the afternoon and wine hour from 5-6. Small rooms by clean and unique with old kitchen appliances. Very friendly and accommodating staff. This hotel is right on the edge of the pearl district and walking distance from tons of great restaurants, breweries and shopping. Also Powell books is across the street. Will stay here again.

Thank you for your comments - we do have an awesome location! We are in the new West End district, centrally located to many of Portland's best attractions and just blocks away from the Pearl District. We are fortunate to have Powell's Bookstore 1 block away along with many local brewpubs, service locally made microbrews. Portland's streetcar runs right outside...

Nice hotel with very friendly and knowledgeable staff, great coffee machine. Wine tasting each night at 5pm and terrific cookies. Located right on a metro line. Our room had a full refrigerator with small stove and sink nice for left overs. Many restaurants close by.
