Stayed here prior to a river cruise and it was very good for the two of us. This was priced higher than we would ordinarily choose, but we didn't bother to rent a car and that kept the visit affordable. Our room was terrific with very little noise from other guests or the streets. Not a complaint, but the sink...

Loved this location!! completely surrounded by lovely stores and great bars/restaurants. Onsite underground parking - felt comfortable leaving our car + it was easy to come/go as needed. Super friendly staff!! Had an adorable personalized welcome message for our dog and a list of pet friendly restaurants and nearby off leash park - saved us time researching nearby places. I...

The Mark Spencer is right downtown Portland, walking distance to many interesting areas, and the food trucks. The hotel is a renovated older building, quite charming. In suite kitchenette with dishes etc... if you want to cook a meal. Staff is friendly, courteous, and helpful. Bed was comfortable and doesn't creak. The hotel has all the amenities you would expect...

Thank you for choosing to stay with us! We get many comments on the comfort of our beds with many guests asking to purchase our bedding package. I appreciate your kind mention of my staff and I will be happy to pass along your comments to them. As for the in-room safes, we will be installing these in all guestrooms...

Very nice boutique hotel close to downtown and The Pearl district. We liked the central location. The staff were very helpful, and the room, though dated, was comfortable and clean. Free tea and cookies in the afternoon and wine at happy hour.

You have touched on all the amenities our guests love - afternoon tea and fresh baked cookies, evening wine reception and our location! We are close to most Portland attractions, as well as award winning dining, tax free shopping and Portland coffee cafes. I would love to hear which ones became your favorites. Thank you for being our guest -...

We used the "place a bid" system to get a room at the Mark Spencer at less than the posted rate. The 1 bedroom executive suite was very comfortable and had good natural light. The space was small for four adults (two on a pull out couch) but the kitchenette worked well and it was nice to be able to...

I'm happy you were able to secure a room using our "Bid Your Own Price" option on our website. This is a great way to reserve a room at our hotel with the possibility of saving money. Depending on our occupancy, it's not always the way to go, but worth a try on any given day. I would like to...

When this is fully refurbished this hotel will get 5 stars. We had a corner suite which was bright, roomy and comfortable with a great little kitchen and proper windows you could open. We loved the location between the pearl district and downtown and right next to the brewery block. We loved breakfast and the wine tasting and made full...

I appreciate your honest review and am happy you enjoyed your corner suite. These particular rooms have not been remodeled yet, but I'm working toward a 5-star review before your next visit! We will be installing safes in all rooms as we get closer to renovation completion. We realize this is a "must have" in hotels rooms and we are...

We invited friends to visit us for so we popped for their room. Hotel rooms in Portland are quite spendy these days. We met them before going to a play and we were favorably impressed by the room, for Portland a very good value. Will recommend.

Although we enjoy staying in the big chains such as Best Western this hotel has a very American feel to it being friendly and personal with its own particular 'Portland' charm. It has an excellent location for wandering around by foot or using the excellent public transport system, which we used quite easily to get from and to the airport....

Glad you made note of our public transportation system. It is one of the best in the world as we have many international travelers come to study Portland's layout. It makes exploring the city and surrounding areas easy and affordable. And with our city blocks being quite short, you can easily get around the city on foot. I'm happy you...

We really enjoyed our stay at the Mark Spencer. We had two rooms, both were spacious and nicely decorated; one had a little kitchenette. Comfy beds, and very quiet. The hotel is located close to plenty of shops and restaurants, and the trolley/tram thing is not too far away either; we found some great restaurants literally just around the corner....

Thank you for the kind words and for the reference to the old and new rooms. It's such a beautiful change that merely stating the fact that we're renovating doesn't do justice to the rooms.
