Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I stayed in this Aloft for two nights, making the reservation online and paying in advance so there would be no balance due at check in. When i went to check in a few days later, the gentleman behind the counter said they had to run my card to for a $50.00 security fee. Which was fine. However, the person behind the desk charged me the $50 PLUS both nights again. (My bank sent me an alert on my phone stating that my card had been charged for over $300 plus the $50.) When I pointed this out, the desk person told me this would reverse in 24 hours. It didn't. On my second day I was told by the manager that the charge would be reversed with in 72 hours. It wasn't I called the customer service line and was told it would take up to 5 business days. After 8 days the additional 2 day charge was still on my card. I called customer service again and was told the manager had to reverse the charges but hadn't yet done it. I called and spoke to the manager who told me customer service had to reverse the charge. So I called customer service again...who told me it was up to the manager. Basically, it was a back and forth-customer service saying it was the manager, the manager saying it was customer service. I called the manager back one last time, trying to get some action taken. The manger literally said to me, "well, what do you expect me to do about it?" Real nice. Eventually, I had to go down to my bank to have the charges taken off. Better still, my bank informed me that Aloft tried to charge me for a THIRD night but it was rejected by my bank for fraudulent activity. Again, real nice. This is a great hotel in a great location, but I'll never stay here again and I'll shout as loudly as I can from the rooftops to anyone who'll listen to stay away from the Aloft at the airport, in Portland.

It's ever so slightly worn hotel, but location is close to dining options and lots of sales tax free shopping. Staff is friendly and helpful. Toiletries are surprisingly not good though. Aloft in New York is more interesting somehow, even though rooms in Portland are bigger.

The hotel facilities were fine, average for the price range. The staff was friendly, helpful. I booked two stays a week apart, minutes from the Portland Airport for a family trip to Hawaii. On the first visit the hotel shuttle was great, came within a few minutes. Took three trips on it during that stay—my arrival and back to the airport to collect arriving family members, all was well. On the return trip I needed to take the shuttle back to the airport to catch an intercity shuttle back to my home city Eugene. The desk said “It’s already on its way” I waited half an hour, no shuttle. Quite a few people were waiting for it by now. Releasing I would miss the other shuttle’s boarding time, I called for a private Lyft back home. I think I will do this when flying from PDX from now on. It is less expensive overall (hotel stay, intercity shuttle) Also very comfortable and exact timing I needed. Another caution: This was NOT the Aloft hotel’s fault but I accidentally booked the stays on a third party site. It looked like I was on the hotel’s web page except for tiny print in the upper left hand corner. It added a total of $160 to the stays and makes it impossible to cancel the stays even weeks before. I see this happening more and more. Be careful out there.

I’ve stayed here multiple times. In the lobby there are fun games for small groups and 2 pool tables. There is a full service bar and lots of snack and beverage options 24/7. Parking is located just outside the front door and the shuttle from the airport was great !

I've stayed at this property multiple times over the years, and always found it to be a fine, convenient stay. Sorry to say that I'll be looking for a new go-to in the PDX area. The rooms are showing their age with marked-up and dinged furniture and finishes, the airport shuttle is unpredictable, and simple requests weren't honored. For over $300/night, I expect much more than I received in terms of quality and responsiveness. Special note - although the property is less than two miles from the airport terminal, budget at least 30 minutes for pick-up or drop off. Be sure to ask how long the pick-up or drop off will be if you're tight on time or the weather is bad. When I tried to (politely) explain the the front desk person that providing an expected wait time would help when calling, I received the most unconcerned, and borderline rude, response. Had I known of the wait, I would have taken a taxi/Uber or even the light rail that stops right near the hotel. Additionally, they have a fancy robot that patrols the parking lot. Spoke with a passenger who had her catalytic converter stolen from her car in their parking lot, despite the robot. In fact, the entire area feels less safe than it used to. Security guards highly present in all nearby stores, made me question the decision towel around nearby.

Response from Gus Castaneda, General Manager at Aloft Portland Airport at Cascade Station
Responded 10 Mar 2023
Dear Rob, Thank you for taking the time for the detailed feedback. Please accept my sincere apologies for the inattentive service - increment weather or not we always stride at providing top notch service, we regret not meeting the expectation. Please note that security issues have actually improved dramatically, maybe unrealistic to expect a complete free zone but overall it is no longer the same concern. Our brand is also always evolving, we're feeling the vibe and implementing the efforts to keep it fresh. I hope you will give us the opportunity to redeem ourselves. Kind Regards,

I just can't warm up to this Aloft. I've stayed here before and it was convenient for this quick business trip. I waited 25 minutes for the shuttle because he was on an errand. It's free, but since the hotel is so close that was frustrating in the cold. Driver was very nice and friendly. No status recognition at check in. My profile request is for a high floor and close to elevator. Got that half right. I really need a closer room to the elevator due to the physical challenge of carrying my bags. It's nearly always received. The room was almost at the end of the hall and when I opened the door I was blasted with heat. The temperature was set to 86 degrees. Luckily I was going out and turned on the air to cool the place down. When I returned 2 hours later it was a balmy 74 but getting better for sure. I saw in the reviews that several comments mentioned they comp Titanium breakfast (I was comped two days ago at a different Aloft). Needless to say, they don't here or at least anymore. Hotel is modern. Location is great. Bed is comfortable but just cant get impressed with the vibe and lack of service.

Dear Alex, Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. I am sorry that we were short of meeting your expectations. I have made notes on your profile to ensure the required accommodations are provided. As a Titaniium member, there are three options to choose from while you check in, breakfast being one of them. Again, my apologies for the lack of recognition and providing the benefit. We hope for an opportunity to redeem ourselves.

I liked the room, parking great and a bar in lobby. However the food in the bar is inedible microwave garbage. $16 for a frozen school lunch burger is ridiculous. Don’t offer food if you can’t do it right!. Set up some sort of delivery service and focus on drinks

Neat, clean spaces and friendly, helpful staff! We highly recommend the heated pool. Loved the courtesy shuffle. Near by restaurants and shopping. Room was small but I expected that so be prepared for a not too private bathroom. However, it was a perfect getaway with thanks to Aloft!

This hotel checked all of our boxes. We needed a clean, close to PDX hotel that we could park our car and catch their shuttle to the airport. I definitely will stay here when I fly out of Portland! Staff was super friendly and helpful and the the driver was happy to greet us in the morning at pick up.

We has a marvelous night with two adjoining rooms for ourselves, grand daughter and 2 lab dogs. The staff was excellent in meeting our requests for adjoining rooms - 1 king and 2 queens on first floor - and even let us check out late for our grand daughter to take her nap. We really appreciated the friendly attitude of Alexis at the front desk to meet all our needs. The rooms are modern, comfy and have all the amenities. Grand daughter loved the swimming pool and access to outside for the dogs was easy. We will definitely return.
