Cool funky place. Neat but crowded when the public is allowed in. Cool bars, restaurants and rooms. Old school theme. Location is near downtown but close to airport which is conducive to early morning departures.

This is our second stay and we are still delighted. We stayed in a room that been part of the school ball court and it was charming, comfortable and how can you resist the chalkboards and colored chalk? The outside dining patio is lovely and of course the beer is fresh. We wish the McMenamins venues spent a bit more...

I have stayed here several times over the past few years. Always with family members. Once with an infant. The grounds around this old elementary school are very pretty and there are outdoor eating and fireplace options. Rooms are old classrooms adapted to hotel room basics. Bathrooms are basic. I consider this place to be a good option for families...

There is so much to do here -- several little bars to explore on the property, plus a movie theater and a saltwater soaking pool (both of which are free as a hotel guest). We ate dinner in the restaurant and the food was excellent. We skipped the movies, but the soaking pool was great after a day of hiking....

Hi Andrea1018- Thank you for taking the time to review us. It sounds like you had a nice time while visiting us. The soaking pool is always nice after a long hike. Make sure next time you are in town you stay in one of our classrooms in the main building. The rooms are charming and funky with your own...

The Kennedy School is unlike any other place you've ever stayed. It really was an elementary school in years past. In the old wing, you'll be staying in a former classroom...in the new purpose-built wing, we were told it's more like a hotel. We asked for the old wing, and are glad we did. Our deduction is they split each...

For practical purposes I am writing this review under the hotel category, but this place is not only a hotel, it is also a restaurant, a pub, a brewery, a movie theatre, a cigar bar, etc one can even call it a museum because the walls are full of magnificent artworks, and old photographs from the 1940s when this place...

I really enjoyed my stay and would have given this place 5 stars if not for a few drawbacks. The good (and great) points: --It is absolutely awesome how this old school was saved from distruction and turned into a motel/bar/restaurant/destination. There is tremendous attention to detail and it would be easy to gawk at the walls and ceilings for...

This place is amazing. Full of wonderful design elements and amazing little bars to visit. They even have a cigar bar for cigar smokers! The restaurants can be fun & lively but the food is only so-so. I have stayed here 3 times. It's a lovely and unique little hotel. It's important to note however that there are NO amenities...

This was our fourth stay here over 16 years and we have watched the changes and growth over that time. This trip we stayed in the English Wing, which is an attached new building, not in the original school. Our room was a little small, but still had all the ambience we have come to expect from a McMenamins property...

We stayed here for our honeymoon. Love this place! It was within walking distance of the awesome arts distric if we wanted to get out but I don't know why we'd want to when they have such a cool movie theater.
