My husband and I took a two week trip from Seattle to San Francisco. Staying at Sylvia Beach in Oregon was a great way to relax midway on our trip. For three days and two nights we walked on the beach and shopped in town. It was a perfect location. Staying in Collette's room allowed us to have a perfect...

I stayed her for a week in July in The Dr. Seuss Room. It was one of the best weeks of my life. This place is amazing. The people are friendly, the hotel is fun, the location is great (right next to a great walking beach), the food is good. I really felt like I was transported back in time...

We've heard about this hotel for some time now so we decided to give it a try. If you want a place on the beach, this place is perfect. However, the rooms are small, the bathrooms and beds are even smaller, and the "rooms with a beach view" also overlook the parking lot. The staff are super friendly. The literary...

I've always wanted to stay at this great hotel and I was not disappointed. I travelled with my daughter and granddaughter (who chose to stay in the recently completed J.K. Rowling room) while my daughter and I shared the Colette room. There are 20 author-themed rooms and we managed to see most of them during our 3-night stay. The hotel...

Chose here because of the Library and website hype. The position is great but it is very expensive for the quality of the rooms which are called quaint with their authors names, small is a better word. On the top floor there are two good chairs with a view looking out to sea which were hogged all the time by...

We spent two nights in the Gertrude Stein room, which was a good value but a bit small for my husband and me. Next time we'll splurge and stay in Colette! What makes the hotel stand out is its beachfront restaurant which has a marvelous chef. The four entrees--beef, chicken, fish, vegetarian--change nightly, and your selection must be made by...

This unusual, historic hotel, positioned on a cliff right above an extensive, sandy beach - offers lodgers the opportunity to spend the night with a well-known author. From Shakespeare to Gertrude Stein to Doctor Seuss - rooms are decorated with photos, memorabilia, etc of famous writers. The excellent location in Newport's historic Nye Beach area offers visitors the options of...

My daughter and I spent two nights at the hotel, one in the Jane Austen room which was lovely and one in the J K Rowling room which was great fun. All of the rooms that we saw were cleverly decorated and definitely appropriate for the authors. The living room (overlooking the ocean), library and puzzle room are very relaxing...

A great place to unwind! With its many tasteful and thoughtfully decorated rooms, each boasts a theme of an author whose works are found within. There are multi-levels of treasures including cozy places to relax, read, view the beautiful ocean, browse the gift shop, or dine in their lovely restaurant! All affordably priced and worth going again and again!

We make an annual pilgrimage to the Sylvia Beach Hotel from Portland to escape the stress of the city and turn off the blackberries for a weekend. Each time we visit, we are enchanted by the rooms and delighted by the exceptional dinner (don't make a mistake and choose a restaurant in town - a four course meal for $23...
