The only way to get to Black Bar is hiking the Rogue River Trail, or rafting down the Rogue River. Although they have a 4 wheel drive road to the lodge, this is a truly remote site. Given the difficult conditions, the staff does a great job with meals, housekeeping, and hospitality. Rates include 3 meals. If you are on...

Owner was verbally abusive on the phone. Refused us service because we were a family and according to the owner, that is not appropriate for hiking the rogue. Needless to say, I disagree. I would avoid this lodge.

The owner could not care less about the quality of your experience because he has a monopoly on lodge traffic for the Rogue River. The lodge staff do what they can with the limited resources they are allowed. Bats live in the buildings and will keep you up at night. The septic is overflowing and you will be greeted with...

We had an unpleasant and bizarre experience at Black Bar Lodge on a recent self-supported hiking trip. I do not like to use the internet to criticize businesses, preferring to give people the benefit of the doubt. I share this experience because there are other self-supported hikers who might rely on Black Bar Lodge for shelter and food along the...

Stayed here after hiking with a group. A nice wilderness lodge and cabins. Hot showers, pleasant sitting areas inside and outside. But the highlight was the delicious "Thanksgiving" dinner. Wonderful food well prepared and well served. Thanks!

We spent our first night on the Rogue here for the 2nd year in a row. Rustic but charming cabins, a beautiful lodge - and a staff that overflows with warmth and friendliness make this the place to stay on your Rogue river wilderness float. The food was excellent and never stops coming - any reasonable request of the kitchen...

A group of 8 ladies stayed here while hiking the Rogue River Trail. They met us and rowed us across the river. Cabin accommodations were fine. Setting is lovely and very peaceful. Food was great and plenty of it. We had a turkey dinner for the evening meal and generous breakfast the next morning.

Spent our first night on the Rogue after rafting w Row Adventures at Black Bar. The deer were as friendly as the people! The staff were quite welcoming and the accommodations were nice. We enjoyed our stay at Black Bar and would recommend to all.

Our first night on the Rogue was here. Not an easy hike to get to but worth it once there. No pain no gain right? We were rowed across, taken up top, given fresh cookies and lemonade tea or coffee, shown to our cabin and man oh man the food!!!! Sourdough biscuits and more. So relaxing and made to feel...

This is a place to visit. It is the only place to stay on this part of the river and worth the price. We were in cabin 3. It was very rustic. Two twin beds and a small 3/4 bathroom. Cabin was very clean and quaint. While some of the cabins are set up very close, ours was set apart...
