3* for Pros: view, your own deck, dog-friendly, large room (2bdrms, living room and kitchen), location to food/venues, inexpensive for the location and size of room. It was nice to have a place to play cards and socialize. Cons: run-down/outdated, definitely NOT in compliance with COVID-19 Cleaning Mandates, furniture worn out and dirty, carpets disgusting (bring slippers).
Booked through booking.com. Room nothing like shown. Booked two queens, got one. Which really wasn’t a deal breaker! Cleanliness was! It was very dirty. They threatened $50 cleaning fee if dishes were left dirty and entire days fee if you were late checking out by 1 minute. No early check in. 4:00 PM period. No exceptions. Cable box hanging on a nail on the wall. No elevator and no phones in the rooms which I wonder is even legal. Even in this day not everyone has a cell. Guess if you have emergency without cell you have to go to the office which also has strict hours. Heated by portable electric heater which could become a major fire hazard. This should be a HARD PASS!
Completely false, misleading listing; promised a fireplace, a king bed, and a queen bed. There was NO fireplace, NO king bed, NO queen bed. And when we asked the manager about it, she essentially shrugged: "Sometimes they show things we don't have." The paint is peeling, and the fallen paint is just pushed up against the base of the walls. It is in such bad shape, I am actually shocked the ceiling didn't leak. ONE good point that compensated for much: the ocean view is undeniably spectacular. But NOTHING makes up for outright lies; their listing did not describe this place at all.
We booked through booking.com. Their service shows the actual rooms...not just sample rooms from the entire motel. We booked a fireplace suite with king bed and queen bedroom based NOT ONLY on the photos, BUT ON THE ACTUAL DESCRIPTION OF THE ROOM. What we got was no fireplace, and two full beds; not even queens. I tried to see if we could be switched to the fireplace suite and king bed room we had booked, but the office person just shrugged and said they're booked up. So, recourse, not even any sympathy. Also, I knew there would be a certain amount of 'beachy funk' to this place...but the degree of funk was definitely WAY more than we were expecting. This place is falling apart. Definitely do not recommend. The ocean view, however, is nice...that's about it.
Tucked back in a residential area surrounded by beach homes about a 30 second drive from Hwy 101. It is right up next to the beach with our room (Standard Studio with Ocean View) offering an excellent unobstructed view of the ocean. Away from the city center it is in a very quiet neighborhood and you are close enough to the ocean to hear the waves overpower any other small noise. Beach is easily accessible from the rear of the property. Lower rooms offer a small deck and chairs in the back yard area that overlooks the water. The beach is flat and unobstructed offering great swimming opportunities. We saw a few surfers in the area as well. There were not many people on the beach as it is away from the main part of town and surrounded by residential areas. Our room included a modest bathroom with shower tub, queen bed (it’s a foam type mattress), two night-stands on either side of bed with lamps, full size fridge, oven with stove top, coffee maker, microwave, toaster, small amount of dishes (2 of each: plates, bowls, cups) including pots/pans, small closet with 5 hangers provided, small octagon table with two chairs, portable radiator space heater, full-size box fan, fireplace with 3-pieces of firewood and newspaper and matches. Wifi worked well. Were able to surf social media and upload videos/pictures at a reasonable speed. A 32” flatscreen TV with a DVD player built in is faced towards the bed. There is Spectrum TV with approximately 20 channels. Caveats: Check-in time of 4pm, check-out time at 11am. Very little parking lot, with some parking across the street from the front of the Motel that you will likely be using if arriving late in the evening. Not very friendly for large vehicles. Motel is very dated, needing some renovation and upgrades (unused rusted baseboard heaters, poor lighting, worn stained carpet, faded paint, creaky flooring). We heard the upstairs tenants every footstep. TV needs to be updated. Had poor response from anywhere in the small suite. Needed to be at a perfect angle from TV to work. Would hit remote buttons 3-4 times until response was made. For the view and the price, I can't complain too much. We enjoyed the view and the quiet area. We were able to overlook all of the downfalls because the view was so nice. I would come back, but next time I will try to stay on the top floor so there’s no one above us.…
