Lincoln City is a great place to stop on a HWY 1 roadtrip. The Captain Cook Inn is an older, independent motel and a bit dark and run down. I rented a kitchenette. The floor of the tiny kitchen and bathroom had been mistakenly waxed and were extremely slippery. On the positive side, while on a 4,000 mile roadtrip, this was the most comfortable bed I slept in. Also, importantly during this pandemic, the room seemed very clean.
We booked a room at this motel based on pictures of the motel and the welcoming conversation we had with Manager Doug. We absolutely felt at home as we checked in and loved the room Doug put us in. This is an older motel but still had all the amenities we needed to be confortable and were impressed with how clean everything was. We both slept so well on the memory foam mattresses, the first time ever to sleep in a motel where we actually slept well all night! This place has such charm and next time we want to book a room with a kitchen and for sure stay longer. We came with another couple who were equally impressed with their room and how welcoming Doug is and will also be coming back to this motel for the wonderful experience we all had! Thank you to Doug and all who work there, we will never stay anywhere else when we come to Lincoln City! Ted and Barb Harrison…
I've stayed in Lincoln City several times since 2008 and Captain Cook Inn is the only place that has improved over the years - at any price. First, it's the oldest, still standing place to stay in Lincoln City. It has that classic feel and aura, including the old radiator heaters, yet everything is modern and clean. Second, it was very clean. Of course, we all expect clean. However, in my experience the more amenities a room has the more things the cleaning staff might rush to clean or miss entirely. Coffee grounds left near the pot? None. Microwave not cleaned from an exploded frozen burrito? Nada. Completely tidy and clean from stem to stern! Third, behind the office was a place to sit, in nature. A quiet place to sit, read, have a beverage and just enjoy the ocean air & pleasant breeze > away from the headaches of ... well you get the idea. At least for me the point of coming to Captain Cook Inn and L.C. was to get away and be coastal. Next time, I hope to stay longer.…
I had a reservation. They called and told me I no longer had a reservation. They charged my credit card anyway. This place is a rip off. Do not give them your debit or credit card number they will call you and tell you you don’t have a reservation and charge you anyway. And then when you call they will tell you that they will only refund half of the money. What a rip off.
This establishment is unethical. Don’t stay here. Drive 2.5 hours to find that even though I had a confirmed reservation they declined to honor it. Three customers waiting for service and no one at the front desk. Images attached. Highly unprofessional!
