Came upon the Vagabond almost by accident, but what a treat! Huge fireplace suite at about half the price of its more elegant and more famous neighbor. No, the Vagabound is not for you if you want elegance. But what a deal! They sell very affordable daily and 3 day passes to Mt Hood Meadows. High funk factor, so it...

Thanks much for your review, glad we could pleasantly surprise you! We've partnered with Meadows for years to give our guests special lift tickets, and it is a great way to take advantage of the fresh snow this year. We'll keep on making improvements throughout the grounds and rooms as well, thanks again!

Living in Idaho with our son in Oregon, we travel the gorge often but seldom have an opportunity to stay the night. For once, we stopped over in our most favorite town and chose the Vagabond for 4 reasons: proximity to the gorge, price, view, and ambiance. We arrived by 2 pm after hiking Multnomah Falls and walking over the...

Thanks for your review and visiting us! We'll hunt down that smell and get rid of it, thanks for letting us know. We're going to keep on making improvements throughout the property so there will always be something new to enjoy, including new beds! Thanks again.

The lodge was reasonably cheap and close to my destinations. However, it was quite dated. Their new additional unit may be finished now and should be much better (ask for a new room if you go). For a few extra dollars I would strongly suggest looking into the hotel right next door (the Columbia gorge hotel). Their grounds were spectacularly...

Thanks for your review, yes out newest building opened in May of '14. Some of our rooms are the original buildings my grandparents built, and we're remodeling and updating features around our property all the time. Thanks again!

My wife and I are self employed, which means we get to decide which 80+ hours a week to work. A few times a year, we need a few days off, away from the office to just unwind without spending a small fortune. Vagabond Lodge is one of those places for us. We have stayed there several times for 2-3...

We stayed only one Sunday night in December, just passing through town, but plan to return to Hood River, and stay at the Vagabond Lodge again. We had a very comfortable large room with all the usual amenities (coffee, microwave, fridge), great king size bed, table & chairs, real glasses (H20 & wine :-), and there is some outdoor space...

Thanks for visiting with us, even just passing through! We'll have some more upgrades completed for the next time you stop by and visit us (things for the balconies, some more done around the grounds), so please do give us a call next time you'll be in our area and we'll reserve a favorite room for you! Thanks again.

I once read an article about how when Nathan's Hot Dog stand first opened in Coney Island, nobody wanted to eat their hot dogs, and when they questioned why not they found out it was because they were so inexpensive people got suspicious that something was wrong with them. This place was like that for me. Great reviews, but it's...

Thanks for your review, and thanks for visiting us! We're going to keep on updating our little spot and creating things that guests won't find somewhere else, and never charge an obscene amount for our guests to relax and make those special memories with loved ones. It's simply our philosophy. Thanks again!

The Vagabond is not very fancy, but it is priced right and in a beautiful location with views of the Columbia River Gorge... and they offer discounted tickets to Mt. Hood Meadows!!! If you order Disaronno on ice or a Cuervo black and cola, this might not be your kind of place, but if you want a big comfy room...

Thanks much, we're looking forward to the fresh powder this winter too! We have a few different specials for every skier/boarder, from learn-to packages including rentals and lessons to 3-day passes. Thanks again, see you carving the pow!

We stayed four nights in November. The suite was large, very clean, quiet (except for when the train went by, way below us at the river, and then it was not particularly loud, but definitely noticeable) We had a nice view of the grounds and the river. Although this property is definitely older, and was nothing fancy, it was very...

We have had six Thanksgiving celebrations over a course of eight years. It's a family favorite and we feel so relaxed and cared for at this establishment. Staff is attentive, yet wiling to be as laid back as we are for this gathering.

Kids under 12 stay free and pets are only $10 extra. A very clean, very affordable room on the end of the single story building had easy access and made going out for potty breaks very easy. Lots of Northwest landscaped areas to walk and play with the Columbia River Gorge as a nice backdrop. Pleasant staff.
