The owner was at the desk when we arrived. Very polite and professional.best guest service I have seen in a while .Our room was very clean and smelled nice..Bathroom was exceedingly clean.Bed was a little soft but comfy. We will stay again. Oh and several restaurants to chose from within 1 mile.

On our road trip along the coast (SF to Seattle), tying to decide between an overnight at Coos Bay (Motel 6) and Charleston. Comments on Captain John's were somewhat 50/50, but to be honest have very minor comments to make. Yes, no AC, but i found room fine and whilst not airy, certainly not stale. No coffee machine which was...

This motel is in a very convenient location if you want to be near Sunset Bay, Simpson's Reef and Cape Arago. It is located close near the docks and Marine Biology Center, with a soothing distant sound of a foghorn and dock bells, softly lulling us to sleep. Beyond the convenience, it was surprisingly cheap ($65 a night for 2...

We enjoyed our respite. The motel was ok. It was no more or less than what you expected at those rates. I booked it Expedia/hotels.com. Would not do that again as we had to leave early due to illness, and because we did not book directly thru the motel, we were not allowed a refund, so we paid for not...

The room smell so bad and no A/C, I could not breath.Don't stay here if you are sensitive. No wonder I have seen a few travelers stay outside their rooms to get the fresh air. My friend regretted to make our reservation to us all 12.@@@@@@@@@@@@@

This motel is family owned and operated. Great rates, right next to the docks, great place to eat dinner right next door. Bathroom had some black mold in the upper part of shower, other than that clean room. Micro and mini fridge in room as well. Quiet area.

We picked this place based on recommendation by our waiter in the area we were in. I read some reviews and some were correct about the smell. We walked in and right away the moldy smell blew me away however, judging by where we were I can understand that, however upon entering our room the smell was there too(2nd floor)...

If your looking for something near the charter that is reasonably priced and clean this will do nicely. We stayed in an upper room and ours looked like it had been resonantly painted and remolded. The bed was very comfortable. There is a definite mold smell when you enter the lobby but the room we stayed in did not have...

I considered this Motel a 2 - but that is because I have extremely sensitive skin and am sensitive to mold. There is a very strong mold smell when you enter the room, and an even stronger mold smell in the lobby. However, you become accustomed to the smell within an hour. The rooms' decorations were interesting: a bright blue...
