I have always visited State Parks in Ohio. I hadn't been to Deer Creek in years and it was a major disappointment. Although the pool area was decent, the rooms were expensive and not in great shape. The facility was under construction and hopefully they will improve the entire resort area. Upon arrive you can see that the building has...

I have stayed at Deer Creek over years and my recent stay was disappointing. The rooms are outdated and in need of renovation. Hallways were unkept with worn carpeting. The blow dryer in our room did not work and the front desk staff seemed rude when asked for a new one ASAP so we could get to our first meeting....

I would like to apologize for the noise issue you experienced as I understand the one thing you expect most is a good night's sleep. As for issues with the property; the State and Xanterra spend around $600,000.00 annually to address guest concerns and any issues with the property every year. We currently have several projects underway including the replacement...

We used to come here frequently, but the last few times have been a little disappointing. The rooms are nice, but need a deep cleaning and the patios/porches need serious cleaning. The staff are great, always friendly and kind and are doing the best they can with a building that needs updated. The gift shop is only open sporadically. My...

The Good: natural setting, basic layout, exterior, check in staff The Bad: old and not maintained, breakfast staff slow, grounds sloppy This is a solid example of the State Park Lodge. It's nicely designed with an exterior that's a little bit Frank Lloyd Wright. The area is swarming with Deer ( I saw 4 including 2 bucks of at least...

Thank you for your letter. As you noticed on your visit we are continuing to update the property. We currently have three projects underway all of which should be completed by the first of February.

The staff at the front desk and restaurant were friendly. The lobby was nicely decorated for Christmas, but overall, the lodge and our room were both very dirty. We only stayed one night and checked out early. We very much enjoyed the outdoor spaces and talked about how much our children would love the outdoor activities during the summer, but...

I'm sorry for the issues during your stay. I have spoken to the housekeeping and maintenance manager about the conditions of your guest room. I know this doesn't fix your experience but we are working to ensure this doesn't happen again.

This is one of the newer Ohio state park lodges, opened in 1981. The lake and surrounding land is beautiful, lots of trees but didn't see a lot of wildlife except for birds. The food in the restaurant was good but not great, and the service was rather slow at times. Nice facility, great views, friendly staff.

Best part of experience were the views, both from the balcony and the main great room/dining area. Appreciated the nicely updated bathroom, and am hopeful they will soon begin updating/replacing the mattresses and carpeting in the rooms. All beds in my room had lumpy uncomfortable mattresses. There was also peeling wallpaper/paint in my room. Something that really bothered me was...

I have such mixed feelings about this place. All the staff I interacted with were very nice. The view from our room was beautiful... But I really struggled with the rest of the experience. I don't want to make a long string of criticisms, just to be negative, but the place really needs some TLC. There was trash under one...

I'm sorry to hear of the issues you encountered. Yes, we are going though some remodeling and updating. We try very hard for this to have as minimum an impact as possible. We hope you decide to visit us again in the future and see the changes we are working on.

Deer Creek State Lodge is one of the finest in Ohio. We go in the winter for several reasons. 1) prices are great! 2) Beautiful views of the lake 3) Lodge is family friendly. 3) Its rustic charm and cozy fireplace are both functional and gives you a sense of peace. 4) Its our family time between winter and summer...

First the good part; it's short. The location is fabulous. The hotel sits on a great piece of property overlooking Deer Creek Lake. The views of the lake are terrific and there is plenty to do: hiking, swimming, boating, tennis and golf among them. I was there for a wedding so I can't speak to the conference facilities. The other...
