Two modern self-contained holiday apartments as well as a smaller studio room, built on the banks of the beautiful Leven River: a serene bush setting abundant with bird life and the occasional possum or wallaby visiting at twilight. The loft apartment, located above the main residence, was designed with an emphasis on privacy and is accessed from a separate entrance. The superbly decorated bedroom has a large en-suite with bath; the adjacent room features a kitchenette with modern appliances, and a lounge The superbly decorated bedroom has a large en-suite with bath; the adjacent room features a kitchenette with modern appliances, and a lounge with a queen size sofa bed and entertainment system. All rooms display beautiful views of the Leven River. Two balconies over-looking the waterfront, one with a barbeque, complete the experience. The Mezzanine apartment is the larger of the two premium waterfront accommodation choices, and completely separate from the main house. This modern private setting is perfect for larger groups and longer stays, as it is equipped with a full kitchen, washing machine, mezzanine bedroom, and a lounge with a queen size sofa bed and entertainment system. This apartment offers breathtaking river views from floor-to-ceiling windows, or from the private deck equipped with barbeque. The perfect retreat. Another option, only available with the Mezzanine Apartment, is the adjacent mobile cabin which has a double bed. This is the perfect place for additional members of your group who desire more privacy. The River Front Studio room is a smaller motel type room with queen bed, en-suite, TV, DVD, microwave, fridge, toaster, kettle etc. There is also a little gas burner and frying pan on the sheltered deck, which gives you the feel of being right on the river bank.

We had a one night stay in their Studio which the proprietors leave some thoughtful treats. It is very small but that is compensated by the balcony that has been added allowing some seating/storage. From this area you get uninterrupted river views. [As others have mentioned you do get some noise from the residence above this studio but we were not concerned being a short stay].

You know that you’ve chosen the right lodgings when you cancel a pre-arranged social catch-up because you can’t wait to get “home” and just chill. As a solo traveller, I stayed for two nights in the Studio. On arrival, I fell utterly in love - a micro apartment that’s beautifully decorated and equipped, with an amazing private deck that’s equipped with armchairs and (hey, it’s Tassie), rugs. And the most incredible, welcoming serene water views that are within touching distance - without having to set down your glass of wine. The unit is beautifully presented, and I was most appreciative of the unexpected extras such as the chockie bar that threw itself at me when I jumped into when the super-comfy bad. There’s a microwave, jug, crockery, cutlery, coffee and tea sachets, condiments etc, as well as REAL milk, presented in a cute jug complete with daily on top 😊 Ordinarily (habit?) I have selected generic hotel accommodation when travelling, but my eyes have now been opened. I will return - not just when I need to travel to Ulverstone, but whenever I can.

Serene, peaceful, living with nature at your doorstep. Wake up to a fabulous view of the Neven River. Your hosts, Kim and Tony, are extremely hospitable - ask and yee shall receive! Poteroos, wombats, birdlife, all at your doorstep - literally. Time to contemplate. Sit still and think. Glorious silence - or tune in to natural sounds - the trickling river, bird calls, a car driving past in the distance. For the hale and hearty there are kayaks to use, bush walks in abundance, challenging mountain climbs - or just sit back and have a wine or two. Sheer bliss. Highly highly recommended.

We stayed in the Mezzanine apartment, the stand alone cottage. Very comfortable self contained accommodation, tranquil country setting, welcoming hosts (Kim and Anthony). The deck, a lovely spot to relax and enjoy the river view. A few minutes drive back to close by towns, cafes and beaches. Highly recommend.

What a fantastic find. Ulverstone River Retreat is just an amazing place with incredible hosts. We had not been to stay in Ulverstone for MANY years so were looking forward to our 2 night stay. When we drove into Ulverstone River Retreat we thought we had found heaven. It was so peaceful and quiet with only the ducks and birds making a noise it was great. We stayed in the mezannine apartment and found Kim and Anthony had supplied everything we needed to make our stay complete, from the slow cooker (so we could put a meal on to cook before going to explore for the day), to milk, cereal, butter, condiments and even a loaf of bread (and a proper bread knife) waiting for us. We chose not to take Anthony up on the offer of the kayaks (and life jackets), but will certainly do that next time we stay. It was the so many "little extra things" that we appreciated that made our stay one to remember for a long time. We have traveled extensively throughout the world and stayed in some amazing places and have to say that Kim and Anthony go the extra mile to make your stay one that you will talk about for a long time. Thank you.

Peaceful, pretty and just a perfect getaway if you want some peace and quiet. Had everything we needed and more. Close enough to town but far enough away for some real relaxation. You won't be disappointed.

We LOVED it here. Surrounded in tweeting birds and sunshine was our perfect little hideaway. Clean and spacious, warm and comfortable are the words that come to mind. We stayed in the Mezzanine unit for 3 nights as a mini honey moon getaway. We can't wait to go back!

We have just spent three nights at the Ulverstone River Retreat - it is on the banks of the Leven River and is absolutely delightful - Katrina, the owner is very welcoming and nothing is too much trouble for her. Our mezzanine unit was well equipped and was a real home from home. It is situated about 10 minutes drive from Ulverstone town centre and is a very private and peaceful setting. Kayaks are available to take on the river at high tide - a very highly recommended place to stay on the North West coast.
