Room was big & spacious but not very bright. There was a basin in the room as well which is unusual which comes in handy for washing dishes. Plenty of tea & coffee. Microwave available.. They forgot milk in fridge but quickly got one pack for me. Bathroom was not very spacious but ok. Nice clean white linen with quality towels. Ours was carpark view. For sea view there was an extra charge of $20.

Found Swansea Motor Inn a good alternative to the very expensive other accommodation options in the area, especially during the peak Xmas holiday season. The hotel is quite old and tired but was clean and staff friendly. They could definitely spend a few dollars and fix or replace bathroom light above mirror. You could tell they were old and haven’t worked for ages. My friends had room next door and it was the same for them. Great views from 1st floor rooms. Good location for visiting Freycinet NP and other local attractions. Got a laugh from the 2016 yellow pages in the draw. Maybe still there for historical purposes….😀

Thank you for your detailed review! We’re so glad to hear that you found Swansea Motor Inn to be a good value, especially during the busy peak season. We truly appreciate your feedback on the condition of the hotel, and we’ll definitely look into the bathroom light issue you mentioned to ensure it’s addressed. It’s great to hear that you enjoyed the views from the first-floor rooms and the location for exploring Freycinet National Park and other local attractions. As for the 2016 Yellow Pages, we’ll take that as a fun reminder to update things for a more modern experience! We appreciate your understanding and your sense of humor, and we hope to welcome you back in the future. Thank you again for sharing your thoughts!

Our internet research seemed to throw up quite a number of surprisingly cheap accommodation options in Swansea. Certainly rooms can be had at this provider for under $100, but they are smaller and with no views. For just a few dollars more, we were pleased we took the first level 'upsell' which comprised a spacious, clean, well appointed room (either ground floor or first floor) - both over looking shimmering Great Oyster Bay with the Feycinet Peninsula in the background. Although an 'older-style' motel, this property is very well appointed, comfortable, and exudes family run friendliness. There are relaxing gardens out front leading down to the foreshore and also a lovely walking track around the golf course to the Esplanade. No real negatives from us and if travelling Tasmania's east coast we always prefer to break our journey at Swansea which is equidistant from Hobart and Launceston rather than the more popular Bicheno, Coles Bay, or St Helens.

Clean but very dated. Bathroom vanity light/ heated didn’t work. Mirror in bathroom needed replacing. Mirror in main room had a huge crack. Had plates, curtly etc, tea towel which was great but no detergent or shower gel. Towels were good and room was warm when we arrived (heater on) which was great on a cold day. Paid for a waterview, but was overpriced for the quality. Was more of a motel than motor inn as there was no restaurant onsite, but had microwave and toaster.

I travelled around Tasmania with my 87 year old father who has dementia. This room was one of the rooms we liked the best. We paid more to secure a room with a deck overlooking the sea and it was worth it. We had our breakfast on the deck in the morning sun.
The room was spacious with a double bed and a single.
The bathroom was a little tired looking with a couple of broken tiles.
The kitchenette wasn't a kitchenette as it didn't have a sink; you had to use a plastic bowl and water from the bathroom.
Overall the room was a little tired however the deck made up for it. had we not had a deck I think that we would have felt that we could have been anywhere.
There was no USB plug which I think should be a must in a motel/hotel room these days.

Budget hotel it was a bed for the night and that was it. The bathroom was very very tiny and the hot water in the shower so not so hot. It was close to club and restaurant and if you up graded it had water views. Parking at the front door also you could use the washing machine and dryer.

When I was younger, it was possible to plan a road trip around any part of Australia and know you would find accommodation without having your book ahead, and I was reminded of this at Swansea, which turned out to be a holiday within our Tasmanian holiday. Yes the hotel is old and needs an upgrade, but it was clean, comfortable, well equipped and our ground floor room opened up to give us direct access to a colourful garden, the beachfront the bay and views of the peninsula. The staff were also welcoming and friendly. If we had the flexibility, we would definitely have stayed longer.

This was my first stay in a hotel for years - I am a big fan of private AirBnb places. This was such a pleasant surprise! You still feel absolutely private in your room, which has every basic facility you could want. It was absolutely clean, with a comfortable bed and best of all, a beautiful ocean view and balcony. You are hardly conscious of anyone staying in the rooms next to you. The hotel is old and unsophisticated, but that is part of its charm. Very good places for coffee, breakfast and meals within easy walking distance. The bus stops next door to the hotel, so you don't even need a car. You can access the magnificent Nile Mile Beach on foot.

We had an upstairs sea facing room with a great view.
The bed was dubious, the linen was clean but could still smell the remnants of cigarette smoke.
The room was otherwise a typical motor inn set up.
A laundry is available and a clothes horse was offered to dry clothes in our room.

Great service on arrival, check in seamless and easy, great local knowledge advising of dinner options being midweek. Room very clean with great sea views. Only problem was we couldn’t stay longer. Parking was easy right outside our unit.

Hello sorry for taking so long to answer (we are in the USA :-)). No just tea and coffee making facilities. Great outdoor area for drinks and I think there's a communal BBQ area.
