We stayed in a one bedroom beachfront cottage - perfect for two and with amazing views. Good supply of provisions for our first breakfast and you can get really good expresso coffee at reception from 8-30 am on! Very relaxing and quiet - couple of kms to Swansea and about 55 minutes to Freycinet. Lots of vineyards on the way to Freycinet. We would not hesitate to go back.

The important thing to know about Piermont is that it is NOT a resort. It is in a beautiful location about a two-hour drive from Hobart. We stayed in a suite that was serene, designed with neutral, natural furnishings. There is no air conditioning, so the room heated up during the day (in summer). There is a pool, but scarcely any lounge chairs and no umbrellas. The beach is accessible, and quite secluded. Great hikes are nearby in Freycinet National Park, about a 45 minute drive from the Retreat. We had lunch in the restaurant. The menu is not extensive and portions were small. On the whole, I would recommend Piermont for a quiet 2-3 day getaway during the warm weather months.

Thank you for taking the time to review! It's great to hear you enjoyed our suite and the natural beauty surrounding Piermont. We've noted your thoughts on room comfort in the summer and the pool area. We appreciate your honesty, and we are always looking for ways to improve. We appreciate your feedback on the restaurant's menu and portions. Our goal is to showcase the best of local Tasmanian produce with a carefully selected range of dishes. We understand that our current offerings might not meet everyone's expectations in terms of variety and size. Your thoughts are incredibly valuable to us as we look to refine our menu to better cater to our guests' diverse tastes. Thanks for recommending Piermont for a quiet getaway. We value your insights and hope to see you again, perhaps in a cooler season for a different experience. Regards, The Piermont Team

Great location with nicely appointed room. Unfortunately the service we received throughout was quite disappointing and certainly below expectations for a premium priced property. Missed common courtesy. Genuine requests like the core component of the breakfast provided was missing. When we enquired if this was simply an oversight, it was just dismissed as bad luck. Reception hours are limited which we can cope with but when we left messages out of hours to the contact provided we had to chase due to no response. We stayed two nights and couldn't dine at the restaurant either night, once due to closure on a public holiday and the other evening because the small restaurant was fully booked. Clearly our mistake in not pre booking but be warned, pre book. Also be warned they are unable to tell you what is on the set menu till the chef arrives at 5pm on the day. Management did eventually offer with resistance to squeeze us in to dine late to pacify us but it was too late for us so we had a nice dinner in town instead. Management also tried to address our concerns late into our stay but unfortunately our expectation for a premium experience for a special occasion had already been let down and soured by poor service throughout our stay. I understand the staff member particularly unhelpful has since left the property's employment.

Hi Murray, Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience with us. Firstly, we're thrilled to hear you enjoyed our great location and your nicely appointed room - those amazing views are hard to beat. We have noted your feedback and we apologise that this was your experience. A missed breakfast provision is an oversight on our part; unfortunately, small mistakes do happen, and we are sorry to hear that you felt you were not met with good customer service. I would like to point out that our management team did go above and beyond to help improve your experience, with the general manager personally delivering the missed breakfast item, as well as a bottle of sparkling wine and oysters to your room. We also made a plan to fit you in for dinner, despite, as you said, not having a booking being an oversight on your part. On our website and in your confirmation email, it is clearly stated that pre-booking is essential. We also state that the menu is crafted daily; we understand that this style of dining is not suited to everyone. The operating days and hours of the restaurant are also clearly stated on our website, social media platforms, and in your confirmation email; we are open for lunch daily, even on public holidays. However, dinner is a 5-day operation. Rest assured, we've taken note of your concerns and are actively tweaking things for the better. We'd love the chance to welcome you back for a more seamless and delightful experience. Regards, The Piermont Team

Had a blast at Piermont Retreat with my friends. The place impressed us from the start, especially with the option to have breakfast at the restaurant, featuring local delights. The rooms were clean, well-equipped, and a gorgeous design. The stunning views right from our window were my favourite. The beaches around were absolutely beautiful, offering us endless moments of relaxation. We treated our stay like a retreat, a luxurious treat where every moment was meant for unwinding. Dining at the Piermont restaurant was a highlight, fantastic food. The staff were all about making our stay perfect, always friendly and on point.

Our accommodation was beautiful, gorgeous beds and really well equipped. You can feel the care in every detail. The Homestead Restaurant is the cherry on top, an absolute treat. The staff are amazing and met our every need. An absolute treat, we’ll be back.

Piermont is Tasmania’s East Coast Oasis! This is my first Trip Advisor review. I want to acknowledge how special this place is and how it made us feel. We visited last year and we are already planning our return this year with family from NSW. There’s a sense of English seaside with high end finishes in most of the builds, and customer service that goes above and beyond. Honestly, it’s some of the best customer service I’ve received in a long time. During a camping trip last week I convinced some of the other mothers to pop into Piermont for a coffee. The staff welcomed us delightfully, and they quickly fell in love with Piermont just as I did. At the end of our camping trip one of the mothers booked her family of four in for a two nights. This is a place I’m proud to recommend to others.

Staying at Piermont Retreat was a highly disappointing experience. My first contact was with a highly-strung, neurotic woman who yelled at me on the phone. She said she had just had a customer complaining at her and she really didn't need to have to clarify points from an email she sent. I said I was sorry that she was upset but perhaps she might consider that I hadn't actually done anything to offend her. She hung up! The idea of the place is lovely; the cottages are beautifully built the setting is stunning and the idea of having kayaks to borrow and bikes to ride is wonderful in theory. Sadly, in reality the bikes are damaged, with flat tyres and the like but there is no air pump and its clear no maintenance on the bikes whatsoever. The tennis rackets are damaged, no umbrellas around the pool, no proper seating around the pool its awful Its clear there is no actual care for the guest, the aim is simply to make money. On our first of two nights we were on our way out for dinner when I slipped on the stairs in the cottage which have no handrailing or slip preventative surface. I reported this but there was no follow up. The idea for dinner is to be fed a set menu devised by the chef at a fair price for a decent restaurant. The prices were the only similarity to restaurants of high quality. The ingredients are all Tasmanian fine produce, so my partner and I were expecting a fine meal. Yet the fish was dry and somehow the hangar steak was as tough as day old calamari. When we mentioned this, we were advised the price of the soda stream sparking water they had served had been removed from the account. I find Piermont to be lacking in customer service and comprehension about what high end accommodation and food should look like. My sympathy goes out to the owners, who would have spent a fortune on building and maintaining the cottages only to have terrible management running the pace into the ground. I have saved two groups of friends from wasting their money, I hope to save yours too. I would never have stayed there had I have known what an awful waste of money it is.

Hi Laura, Thanks for sharing your thoughts on your recent stay at Piermont Retreat. We'd like to highlight that this feedback is very unusual for us. Regarding the initial phone call, this is absolutely not our norm. Please know that the staff member involved was completely shaken from the experience, as we are not used to such aggressive interactions with our guests. Your reports on the amenities and stairs are appreciated, and as mentioned previously, we are investigating both matters. We regret that the dining experience was not to your liking. We understand this style may not suit everyone, and there are more casual options in Swansea, just 3km away. Since your trip was booked as a gift by a relative, we acknowledge there might have been a lack of information about the Piermont experience. We hope next time you can find accommodations better suited to your needs. Regards, The Piermont Team

The cottage could only be described as tired, with some basic issues not being attended to: The 'fully functional kitchen' was far from that, with implements being stored in odd places and it appears that the management couldn't even be bothered to put in drawer liners, so that the bottoms of all of the kitchen drawers were scratched and seemingly dirty. The provisions for our first breakfast were pretty good, except for the sourdough loaf being really stale; we managed by toasting each slice when needed. The bed was soft and saggy, giving me a bad back for a week afterwards. When it rained, not all that hard, the roof leaked onto the living room floor. For a high end place with premium prices, it was quite disappointing and I doubt that we'll return.

We stayed in a premium spa for my husbands birthday weekend and it was so beautiful. We read, ate, drank wine and relaxed on the deck looking at the beautiful bay. We were lucky enough to have the homestead family style dinner they had over winter and despite being introverts, we made some friends and sat around the fire pit after dinner with the other guests! Overall, such a lovely experience, atmosphere and peaceful place. The room was beautiful, clean and fresh. The staff were lovely and the food was beautiful. Have already rebooked for this summer!
