Fantastic family accommodation!! John and Maureen are great hosts. The family rooms are well appointed spacious and comfy. With some homey touches for creature comfort. The kids enjoyed gathering eggs and feeding the goats picking fruit! Only a short drive from all freycinet has to offer great home accommodation for a good price

Stayed just the one night in the Bentmore cottage. This is a very old ( mid 18the century ) cottage that has been beautifully renovated. It is on a farm a few k north of Swansea.
You can say hello to the friendly goats in a nearby paddock.
We had very cold weather but we’re warm and cosy in the cottage. It has everything you need even a small kitchen.
A glass of port and chocolates were such a nice touch. The property has other places to stay, a room in the homestead and also a very nice spot which has been built on the back of an old truck.
The lady who runs it gave us a very welcoming tour and if you want can help yourself to grapefruit and apples which are growing in the garden.
The cottage may look quite small in the photos but is surprisingly large inside.
Close to the turn off to Cole’s Bay and Wineglass Bay. It was just too cold and wet when we were there so abandoned this part of our trip.
We would love to stay here again.

A few km north of Swansea (and therefore a bit closer to the treasures of Bicheno, and FreycinetPpeninsula), the unique Homestead is an ideal spot to explore north and south, including Maria Island (from Triabunna). Hosts Maureen and John do an exceptional job, in making all their guests feel very welcome and special.

We had the homestead family unit, which is fully set up with a good kitchen and plenty of room, which can easily cater for a family. So for 2 codgers, it was very spacious.
The gardens and surrounds are very interesting, as are the friendly goats, and chooks,
We really enjoyed our 2 day stay, and would recommend this interesting little option :-)

We stayed a night in the Gypsy Rose caravan. It was charming, comfortable and very quiet. The caravan was very clean and came with lovely touches including sukin toiletries and a pod coffee machine. The hosts were very friendly, and gave me a tour of their gardens where we were able to pick apple and plums.
I would definitely come back again, hopefully for a longer stay

What a treat was in store for us. Geoff, my partner booked this as a surprise - a gypsy Rose caravan stay. What a beautiful time we had. The bed was so comfortable I slept so soundly. I loved the inside decor of Gypsy rose - my favourite color purple was the theme and the gypsy touches very earthy. I felt right at home (must have been my Irish heritage!).
We were left the makings of a delicious full breakfast, including home made jams and fresh eggs and tomatoes from the garden were especially tasty.
Being March we were delighted to be encouraged to pick quinces, nashi pears and sweet apples which were laden on the trees. We also took fresh produce to our family in Hobart and Bruny Island, where we enjoyed roasted quinces in rich juice..mmm, just re living it now! Thank you for your generosity and hospitality:) We highly recommend this homestead, which offered privacy (each individual accomm was separate and situated away from the main house on a large property) as well as open to being social if that is what you want.

Fabulous stay at Belmont Homestead. Regrettably short but memorable in all the good ways. Fantastic hosts in Maureen and John, wonderfully restored cottage and Gypsy van, an array of goats, chickens and rabbits amongst the bountiful apple, nashi, orange, grapefruit, mulberry and pear trees. Beautiful rambling gardens, everything you need in the accoms, including my pet love - enough sensibly placed electrical points to charge phones, kindles, watches, iPads etc all within reach and all at once! Loving this laid back eclectic property and all the secrets it offers to discover - including its own river and maybe a platypus! Tiny accoms that include absolutely everything from great shower facilities, mini kitchens, little patios, wood fireplace, TVs, cuppas, great drinking water, comfortable beds, fresh crisp linens etc. Accom created with love. Pop in for a stay. #belmonthomestead

We stayed here for 3 nights and it was the perfect place to relax and unwind. Only a 10 minute drive to Swansea and Kates Berry Farm which is a must.

Our accommodation was in the Belmont Wing which is fully self contained and has plenty of room for a family. We were greeted by Maureen upon arrival who showed us around the room and took Master 5 down to the chickens to collect some eggs whilst we unpacked the car.

The gardens on the property are beautiful and it is starting to bloom now that it is Spring. The history of the Belmont is also very interesting.

Amazing quirky accommodation. We chose the Gypsy Rose. Very comfortable and pleasantly located beside the Wye River. We only met Maureen on arrival, who was very welcoming and made us feel right at home. Breakfast is not included, so we self-catered for breakfast and dinner. There is a microwave, kettle, toaster, fridge and crockery and cutlery. There is also a camp kitchen next door for those that need to cook bigger meals.

We recently had an overnight stay at Bentmore Cottage on the Belmont Homestead estate. Absolutely exceeded our hopes and expectations. The cottage is small and cosy and the owners, Maureen and John kindly lit the fire for us before we arrived on a cold night. Such a beautiful little place to stay, unfortunately not long enough. We had a lovely cosy night here and then Maureen showed us around the rest of the Homestead the next morning complete with rabbits and goats! Various other accommodation choices there but we absolutely preferred Bentmore. Will happily stay there again any time we come to Tasmania.

Gypsy Rose Van was very cute. Handy sitting side balcony with private views of creek bank & country paddocks. Comfy queen bed, great modern bathroom & funky night lighting. We came back to Swansea to explore more local day trip options, but could’ve happily stayed in! Maureen was really friendly. She gave us the tour of Belmont House’s pretty grounds - checked out the cosy historic rental cottage, met Vincent van Goat, gave us fresh eggs for brekkie & also plenty of local top tips. Love the story of her being a guest, who loved the property so much she recently bought it! Only gave it 4 out of 5 stars cos she’s planning to further pimp out the van inside & out - plans of a hot tub in the driving cabin would make it 6! Would highly recommend for a couple’s quirky stay in a unpretentious & quiet country farm setting. A 5 min drive into coastal Swansea & well placed for trips to explore what’s nearby - loads of wineries, Freycinet nature walks (we took Aqua taxi to Cook’s Beach & walked back) & miles of white sandy beaches locally or up the coast from Bicheno.
