Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

While we stayed at this place on a holiday weekend, it was still way overpriced especially it's restaurant.
The rooms are dated but clean and the view is wonderful.
No Smoking rules should be stronger, people in room next door smoked on the balcony, we had to close our balcony doors to stop the smoke coming in our room.
I just can't recommend this place, the restaurant prices were were too high, drinks crazy, $11.50 for a small glass of house wine

We requested a change from an upper floor to a ground floor room when we arrived and reception kindly made the change to our booking. Old legs and body struggle to climb stairs with suitcase in hand. Room had all the facilities that we required for our one night stay, it was clean and hygienic and the bed also very comfortable. Fantastic views across the bay area.

Much like the town in which it is located, Waterloo is in a time warp. I checked and although it was built in 1989 it is much closer in style to 1979. Every thing from the exposed brick, to the tiles, gold taps, lamps and original telephones (worth a fortune on eBay probably) to the restaurant and bar that take you back to a bygone era in every sense, even the staff were old time Aussie friendly.
Please do not go expecting 2021 anything and you will not be disappointed.
Very clean and amazingly well maintained for its age. We stayed in the King room which was huge. By the way what is that contraption above the bathroom sink???

Like turning back time and walking into a 1970’s motel and restaurant, the decor, the layout, the bathroom, the breakfast tray delivery. Room was clean but very dated, bed was not comfortable, but view from the room overlooking water was a plus. The restaurant was the only place open to get dinner and was very average and not worth the money.

This is a review for the restaurant at the Waterloo Inn. Food was sensational! Customer service brilliant. It was like going back to the late 1970s decor wise but the food was out of this world! Seasonal menu and food cooked fresh to order and quickly. Even my 15 year old was genuinely impressed. Fried chicken bites with house mayo, warm olives to start. Risotto with a generous serve of Tasmanian truffle and mushrooms, a beef and red wine pie encased in a magic flaky pastry topped off with devil's food cake. Highly recommended!

The Waterloo Inn is perfectly located in Swansea on Waterloo Point. Overlooking the bay, the rooms have gorgeous views to sit and watch the sun rise or set. We went for a walk around the point, which is listed as one of Tasmania’s 60 Great Short Walks and gives you a magnificent view of the Hazards in Freycinet.

The room was luxuriously spacious and had everything we needed. The decor suits the style of the Inn and definitely adds to the experience.

There is also a restaurant on site (it was actually under our room), which served incredible food and wine. We had a long lunch and then retired upstairs for a spa bath. It was devine!

Inside this unremarkable seventies exterior are comfortable, spacious rooms with balconies from which to absorb the stunning water views.

The owners have sensibly maintained the seventies vernacular in the furnishings and fittings while adding contemporary luxury.

The accommodation was impeccably clean and very comfortable for an extended stay and a chance to sample the renowned in house restaurant or the many other eateries that Swansea has to offer.

The restaurant here is absolutely worth visiting. The staff, especially the lady at the bar (I believe her name was Alex) was able to give so many recommendations and advice about both food and wine options. The everchanging blackboard menu guarantees there is something for everyone. Can't fault a single aspect of the visit.
Make sure to book in peak season though, every table was filled!

A young couple have been in the restaurant for 5ks and the food and wine is superb!

The story we were told by our hosts at Meredith House (see seperate review) was that the Chef was off a super yacht owned by a very prominent Australian with interests in gambling.

All local produce, menu offerings are produce dependent. The oysters are local, big fat juicy and salty.

We pate, and steak frites to die for, front of house recommend shared plates which is the way to go.

My husband and I were told about this restaurant by a friend and booked weeks in advance to secure a table - coming from Brisbane for a short stay on the east coast. The menu is seasonal and can change daily given availability of produce. The two person team (chef, Zac and partner, Alex) run an outstanding dinner service. Wines are delicious and variety on menu means something for everyone. We over-ordered but we’re not disappointed and will definitely be back!
