A huge range of ‘types’ of accomodation available from historic houses, units and rooms. Very helpful staff, spacious rooms opposite boat moorings. Easy access to Gordon River Cruise Boarding and short drive to historic train station. A hotel and restaurants are in easy walking access. Would recommend this and a bonus laundry is in the grounds - so a ‘win win’.
We chose Village Waterfront Executive Spa room for our anniversary trip as it had a balcony and was directly on the waterfront. Was a little disappointed to find that we were on the ground floor not the top level although it did technically have a 'balcony' on the ground. However there was a bush in front and set back from the road a little so it was still nice to sit there and look at the fabulous view. Room smelt a bit musty when we first walked in but was clean and very comfortable although decor a bit dated. Excellent location near boats and Hamers pub -> get there early as not too many places to eat. Reception staff helpful and friendly
This is a perfect place to stay. It may not be super modern but fits in perfectly with Strahan. The room was clean and had tea, coffee etc with a lovely couch and a balcony where you could sit and see the whole street and walk to everything you would need.
The room was clean and comfortable, however dated and tired, one small cake of soap to wash hands and use in the shower if you used it there. Needs some work on the gardens outside also, could look more inviting. The view from our room was fabulous. Staff at the restaurant were pleasant and inviting.
We stayed in one of the stone cottages on the waterfront, which was my choice as I did not want to stay in the apartments up high. I wanted to be able to walk to restaurants (those that were open) and not have to climb stairs. The room is quiet small, but has a little sitting area with a TV and a tiny refrigerator. The bed was great, clean sheets and comfortable. My only gripe is that the bathroom is tiny, and the shower is over the bath, it’s a bit of a step into the bath with absolutely no grip rails and nothing to hang onto as you get in or out. The bottom of the bath is quiet slippery and no bubble mat supplied so I thought it quite dangerous. Two towels only supplied with face washer, bath mat and hand towel. Needed to ask for extra towels as the two we had just did not dry during the day. This is a small gripe but the toilet paper and tissues must have been about a one ply composition, seriously spent the extra and get decent toilet paper and tissues. Location was excellent, with parking right behind the cottage, great view from the front over the harbour. Walking distance to the pub, that has excellent meals. Pub is very small and you will need to go on a wait list for the in pub restaurant, but worth it.…
This is a sprawling property which has grown with the addition of separate wings some of which give it a motel feel. The wing we stayed in looks to be an older and from the outside dated. The rooms inside are very clean and comfortable. It is worth noting that the majority of the accommodation is on a hill with a lot of step which could make it difficult.
We stayed in the stone cottage just across the road from the reception of Strahan Village. The staff were very friendly, knowledgeable and professional. The staff did advise of dinner options and if you are going and would like to get into the seafood buffet - Book in advance. The views from the restaurant deck were also spectacular. Our room was spectacular and quaint. Everything we needed was in the cottage. Bar Fridge, lounge, bed and bathroom. bed was comfy and bathroom had a spa bath that we enjoyed and a bench to put your bags. There is a Whiskey and Spirits tasting bar inside the Wilderness Woodworks on the waterfront in Strahan. Great for a pre-dinner drink. We went on the Gordon River Cruise, and to the longest-running play in Australia, The Ship That Never Was. You will need to book for all of these before you arrive is the best option. A great place from which to enjoy your stay in Strahan.…
Strahan is a gem. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Strahan village with so many activities in the area. From Hogarth falls to the dunes, this town deserves a lot more hype. Highly recommended for families, couples or even the solo traveler.
Our stay at Strahan Village was excellent, but it is worth paying a bit more if you can afford on of their rooms with a view. Beware that there are many stairs leading from the Gordon WIng down to the township, so ask about this for the elderly. The stairs make for nice exercise if you are put to it. Strahan Village has everything you could need, and the all-you-can-eat buffet was a treat last time we visited. If you are on a budget like we were this time, their is an IGA close by, bistro, and takeaway are also available. Great attractions nearby include the Wilderness Railway, Gordon River Cruises, and the longest-running play in Australia, The Ship That Never Was. You will need to book for all of these. A great place from which to enjoy your stay in Strahan.
Great location but that's about all. In need of major refurbishment, everything is old, tired and dirty and the bathroom smells of mildew. But what really turned my stomach was when the hotel worker came while we were in the room and proceeded to wash the cups and glasses in the bathroom sink with a dirty sponge carried from room to room, and lukewarm water. This has been mentioned to management on leaving. Please, please, please - all crockery and cutlery needs to go through a dishwasher at high temperature. Covid may not be the only thing to be worried about.
