Detailed Reviews
We stayed here for 2 nights in a Queen room - their smallest style. The room was small however was clean and cozy and the fact there are so many lounge areas to sit in and an honesty bar meant we didn't spend much time in our room. Continental breakfast each day was just right in a beautiful light filled room. Yes there are internet and TV reception issues however this has more to do with the location being west coast of Tasmania than with the Manor itself. It is in a great location which meant we could walk to the boat cruise and the restaurants for dinner.

With a few easy improvements it could be excellent. A lovely old home it was a pleasure to stay there. Well located and so peaceful it is the ideal place to base yourself for the various Strahan activities. Wifi only working in the Reception area, in this day and age is a bit infra dig. A couple of range extenders will fix that, as will the supply of better quality television receivers in the rooms. But overall A+.

Kellie and I had an extremely pleasant stay, so much we extended our visit, only by one night. Not by choice ( other locations to visit) but the extra time spent at the Franklin Manor and our drinks plus chats with Marcus were times to remember. Marcus went out of his way to assist us with dinner bookings in Strahan, he also advised us on locations to visit, even purchasing lifes must have items outside normal shop hours. We found this location and Marcus along with his staff top class, nothing was a problem to them and they were willing to assist where and when required. A great place to stay, warm, friendly, quiet, caring. Highly recommended the Franklin Manor.

We stayed at Franklin Manor because we were booked on the boat trip the next day - probably most people are the same. The house is characterful and the gardens beautiful but the owners/staff seemed to want the least possible interaction with guests. The lady on reception wasn't unfriendly, but neither was she welcoming. It was made clear that no one is available past about 6pm - you can get a drink from the honesty bar though. And at breakfast everything was laid out but the only person we saw, apart from other guests, made a very brief appearance to clear a few tables. Since no-one was about we left what we owed for drinks on the front desk and departed.

Charming old B & B, with lovely gardens & interesting history. Room 7 was comfortable & clean, although the curtains were a bit frayed, the timber bench top was in need of repair or replacement & the plug didn't fit the bath. The House has a lovely charm & is a very pleasant walk into Strahan Village. The Continental breakfast was quite basic - fruit, cereal, toast, spreads, coffee & tea.

Stayed 2 nights at Franklin Manor. We love the little history of this place and the homey feel. There are 2 communal areas (living room) where you can lounge and relax.
The room is compact, not much room for us to open up our luggage but we understand this is not a purposefully built hotel so we can bear with it.
The continental breakfast is excellent, of good quality and taste. The service staff is so eager to serve and responsive.
There are also ample parking spaces within the estate.
The things that need a little improvement is one of the heating lamp in the bathroom is not working, so as the downlight at the window area (room #2). Also, the noise can travel greatly from upstairs to downstairs easily. However, the noise is something they cannot control as this is an historic home.
What they can really compensate with their shortfall is to at least offer the Nespresso capsules in the room free of charge. I really do not think it should be charged for. None of the hotels did that, what you can do is to limit the capsules provided daily but to charge for that is as good as not providing it.
Other than that, it is a comfortable stay.

This is a historic house on The Esplanade in Strahan. It is a large, old guesthouse. It has an odour that lets you know it is old. The staff are friendly. Through the front door you encounter the check-in desk and a pleasant seating area with views into the garden. There are staircases leading up to the various guest rooms. The house has high ceilings and creaky staircases and floorboards. The rooms a quite spacious and the bed is comfortable. There is a small flatscreen TV, a fridge, tea and coffee-making facilities. The bathroom consisted of a normal-sized bath (with spa jets) with a shower curtain… not really what you think about when you book a room with a spa bath. It had a $10 Bunnings shower head and the hot water tap handle kept falling off. Downstairs, there was large dining room with lovely views into the garden. Breakfast consisted of a variety of cereals, yoghurt, stewed fruit, toast (3 types of bread) with spreads (eg.honey, jam) and brewed coffee or hot water for tea. We looked at other accommodation in Strahan and Franklin Manor seemed to be better than most, but compared to other places we have stayed it was average at best.

Beautiful old home lovingly restored with large rooms and several public areas in which to relax. Our room was upstairs overlooking the abundant gardens - the downside to this was the amount of stairs to navigate whilst carrying luggage. Also, there was no air conditioning and only one operational window, so the room was uncomfortably warm. Breakfast was served in the large dining room downstairs and was standard fare. The staff were friendly and efficient.

We stayed at Franklin Manor in Strahan for 3 nights. It was not cheap at $300 pn and was a waste of money. The staff are brilliant from manager down however the owners are back in the dark ages and I hope are reading this. Mattresses are old, lumpy and need replacement. Shower over bath is a trickle and no hot water later in day. Breakfast is advertised as “European” but consists of rock hard croissants and small bits of dried out ham. No cereals and just white bread. Toaster takes 10 minutes to cook toast. No choice of yoghurt only sweet Greek with a bit of chopped up apple or honey dumped in it. No heating in main house only bedrooms except for an open fire which did not suffice at temperatures of 8 degrees. Lots of maintenance needed throughout home. The owners need to recognise what is expected and either advertise this bed and breakfast at under $150pn or go and research what should be offered at a higher price. My advice is stay away until they make some changes to this lovely old house which has seen better days.

Franklin Manor is a rather grand and stately home with considerable historic value. When we drove into the grounds, it reminded us of a rather grand hotel we had stayed at in Windermere in Cumbria.
Our room was large with a king-size bed, and a bathroom with a spa bath. We stayed there for 3 nights and it was a joy to return to each day after our tourist activities around Strahan.
The gourmet breakfast was fabulous and very well presented, with a genuine welcome each morning from the host, Marcus. There was an honesty system for a range of beverages, and we enjoyed a rather tasty bottle of wine in our room one evening.
While not an issue with Franklin Manor itself, Strahan while an attractive tourist venue is extremely limited in places to eat in the evening. Strahan seems ambivalent to the needs of tourists for basic services like an evening meal. Several leading eateries refuse to take bookings which is amazing in these times of Covid. We nearly missed out on a meal one evening and other guests at Franklin manor went hungry one night as we learnt the next morning over breakfast.
We would have no hesitation in staying at Franklin Manor again and feel confident that tourists can expect a warm welcome from Marcus and an enjoyable stay.
