Booked in here as 3 friends and using the online booking form we made it very clear we needed 3 beds.

Arrived late afternoon, checked in and found we had one of the better cabins (thank goodness for that) but that it had 2 double beds. I returned to reception to ask for another cabin with 3 beds to be told they only had one old cabin. However there was a cabin next door to the one allocated with 3 beds. Asked for that one only to be told that it was allocated (but the people hadn't checked in). Asked why they couldn't change our allocation as we were actually there and was told they couldn't check with other people because a phone number had not been provided.
After a lot of persuasion we were given the cabin with 3 beds - but only after I asked which of my 2 male friends the receptionist suggested I share with (I am female).....

The cabin was basic. I assume most caravan park cabins are like this. 1 towel provided per person - no face washers, no hand towel and no floor mats provided. Bathroom sinks don't have a vanity so nowhere to put anything.

Hi and thank you for your feedback. I am sorry to hear about the confusion in regard to your preferred sleeping requirements. Not everything that is entered into online third party booking sites comes through or is displayed in a correct manor. It is always best to make such requests direct with the property as the category that you chose all have this style of bedding arrangement. Face washers have been fazed out in a lot of hospitality places due to the volume that go missing. We hope that you enjoyed Strahan.

We were booked here for 3 nights in a Retreat Studio Cottage and allocated Unit 2 of the chalet complex. Contactless check-in and the young lady in Reception was friendly and engaging. The Studio Room was a surprise, it seemed to be in the process of conversion to a disabled unit or perhaps suitable for both able-bodied, elderly and disabled. In any event it was adequate for our needs, great ablution area, well equipped kitchen, comfortable bed, couch, table and chairs on front verandah. All very clean and hygienic. TV signal varied from poor to non-existent. WIFI a waste of time, luckily we could access elsewhere in town. I expected towels to be changed daily and was met with a frosty and rude response when I asked for replace towels at Reception. Eventually I was handed 2 towels and repeatedly told that I was staying in a caravan park and not a motel. This was my only experience of rudeness from any accommodation provider that we had booked throughout Tasmania.

When we arrived we were given a site close to the main amenity block. When I walked over to it, there were a lot of ‘out of order’ signs. I asked the people in the site next to me and they said they had been on for a few days. I opened the doors
3 toilets - 1 out of order + 2 available
3 showers - 2 out of order + 1 available
The park was fairly full with more vans coming in, the same people said it was completely full the night before. There was a smaller amenity block down the road, so had a look there were 2 rooms in that one, with a shower and toilet. Still seemed quite light on for the number of guests.
I went into the reception and spoke to the young woman, why is there only 1 shower available in the main amenity block? She was quite abrupt, no there are more and then proceeded to draw me a picture of the amenity block with x on the ones out of order at the end of which there was 1 functioning shower which is exactly where we started our conversation. She basically shrugged and said they were out for cleaning.
I have never heard of showers being out for cleaning for over 24 hours?
I went back to the van and searched for alternatives, more due to the really odd and lacklustre service but everything was booked out.
The park itself is ok, very basic camp kitchen, one small BBQ and somewhat uneven sites, but since we were there for the world heritage cruise we decided to stay and shower at odd hours to avoid the queue.
The reason this did end up a 3 instead of a 1 or 2 is upon our return from the cruise all of the showers and toilets were back open, apparently the lengthy clean must have been completed?

Hi there and thank you for the time taken to provide us with feedback on your stay. I am sorry to hear about the confusion in relation to the amenities displaying out of order signs. We were in the middle of mini refurbishment of some of the said blocks and it's unfortunate that it impacted on your stay with us. Isn't the cruise a fantastic experience.

We booked a two bedroom cabin for the three of us, thankfully only for a one night stopover to break up the drive from Hobart to Cradle.

Our cabin only had one actual bedroom with a door, the double bed was open with the living area. The cabin was extremely outdated, including both furniture a furnishings like blankets etc. The bunk beds are very small for an adult to sleep on - only really suitable for children. The BBQ in the nearby common area took a very long time to cook.

As minor consolations, the heater in our cabin worked well, it was clean, and the walk down by the river was pleasant enough.

I would not stay again. For the price we paid it was terrible value for money. Would stay elsewhere (Airbnb or out of Strahan, everywhere seemed pricey relative to the rest of our trip and much nicer accommodations).

My family stayed in the 4 bedroom Retreat in early January 2021. We were very disappointed with the presentation of the accommodation. Dead flies on the window sills, dirty and old carpet in the lounge room, smelly and uncomfortable lounge suite, windows in the lounge room that were unable to be opened, the towel rack in the ensuite fell off the wall every time you tried to put a towel on it, the windows in the kitchen were so filthy that you actually could not see out of them when the sun shone on them, torn fly screens that did not keep out any flies at all, bare light bulb with no shade in the 4th bedroom, a hole in the wall under the "desk" in the 4th bedroom that was at perfect eye height when you were laying in bed, broken vertical blinds in one bedroom. For a cottage that sleeps 10 people it has the smallest fridge. You would not be able to store enough food in it for 10 people and yet the kitchen has an amazing amount of wasted free space.
The kitchen table is also not big enough to seat 10 people. The cottage is directly behind the office and take away fish and chip shop, so the cottage smells of old fish and chip oil constantly. It was quite nauseating really. The internet did not work the entire time we were here. We could not log onto the internet at all and the office people did not know or really care what the issue was. The grounds are very nice and the platypus walk is a nice way to end the evening, but it was disappointing that we could not have a fire. I would not stay here again. It certainly was not value for money and in fact we left a day early.

The location is good as a part of the lap of Tasmania but the cabins, at $150 plus per night, leave a lot to be desired. No towel rails, although the holes in the wall are still there where they once were, no hand towel hook, no tissues, no face washers, a TV monitor so small you would reject it as a computer monitor, the shower screen door wouldn’t shut so water ended up on the floor, holes in the ceiling and exhaust vent cover. Crikey, if you’re not prepared for the hard work, find another career choice!! And they can’t even have 2 decent wine glasses!!!

6 adults stayed here for 2 nights in a 4 bedroom cottage. 2 bathrooms, a decent size lounge room and an excellent outdoor area. Beds were very comfortable and the place was clean. We found this holiday park was in a great spot. Nice 10 minute stroll to the IGA and about a 15 minute walk to where the Gordon River Boat leaves from. Staff were very friendly and we found the price was really reasonable.

Nice comfy bed and the facilities worked well. Meant to tell the very friendly and helpful front desk that our front door was a bit sticky and hard to open. Maybe a spot of sanding and oiling. (We were in cabin 11, for the record.) The walls were flimsy and sound travelled through but fortunately there were no noisy inconsiderate guests after dark and we slept soundly although it was pretty chocka. Absolutely adored the greenery and the platypus walk and met some lovely and interesting fellow travellers during our two-night stay. The location is good - a pleasant 20 minute walk from the well-stocked local IGA.

We were given cabin 12 and it was very clean. That’s the only positive I have. The cabin bedroom was tiny with barely room to get down the side of the bed. The bed itself was uncomfortable and bed springs poked you when you laid on it and every movement from your partner made it shake. The cover on the bed barely reach the sides so when you got in it wasn’t big enough to cover you. They claim to be heated but the only heater is an inadequate one in the living area at the other end of the cabin. It did very little in way of producing warmth and we slept fully clothed in jumpers to be warm. They really don’t trust guests as there is literally two glasses, two plates, two knifes, two forks etc in the kitchen. Couldn’t wait to leave.

We had a 3 bedroom cabin, 2 bunk beds, 2 single beds, and a queen. The queen bed felt like a boat, if the other person rolled over it made for a very uncomfortable sleep. One of the single beds squeaked terribly, the poor person in the other bed was woken up continually from the squeaking noise. The front door needs maintenance before it will no longer opens, scraping on the carpet. The bathroom door needs a handle that can be opened easier, not having to pull your arm out of your socket. We feel as 4 adults and 2 children, it needs a bit of up grading. For $706 for 3 nights
