Harrison House is a traditional Bed and Breakfast offering boutique style hosted accommodation. Set atop a hill amidst an acre of gardens on the edge of the wilderness, the house is just a short 15-minute stroll from the historic township of Strahan on the shores of Macquarie Harbour. One of the original homes built circa 1899 this historic house has been recently restored and renovated with the comfort of guests in mind. The three King Rooms are well appointed each with a luxurious king-size bed and modern private ensuite bathroom. A scrumptious home cooked breakfast is served daily in the Guest Dining Room and is the perfect start to your day. The Guests Cafe' Nook for Tea & Coffee or the Honesty Bar will keep you refreshed. There are comfy armchairs in your room or you can relax in the Guest Lounge in front of the wood fire. Outside take in the fresh air on the verandah or wander the gardens to share time with the abundant birds and wildlife in this tranquil setting. Located midway between the town wharf and railway station, the major tours and attractions are only minutes away, including Peoples Park and Hogarth Falls.

This B&B is exceptional; very friendly, helpful and interesting hosts combined with beautiful and large rooms. Harrison’s offered a good value package deal which included three nights accommodation plus tickets on the top deck of a Gordon River cruise. They helped us choose our restaurants for each evening’s meal and booked the meals for us. We were delighted with our stay.

Harrison House is the most beautiful, friendly, quiet, cosy, clean, comfortable place we have stayed! From the moment you walk in you are greeted with a smile and immediately feel at home. The rooms are just gorgeous with the most amazing bed! We had the best nights sleep! Jo & Ken are just so lovely and go above and beyond to make you feel special. From booking us in on the spectacular Gordon River cruise to making reservations for dinner, nothing is too much trouble. Ken makes the most delicious breakfast on earth!
It is an ideal location to walk to Hogarth Falls or into the town centre.
We highly recommend Harrison House and hope we can return soon!!

There is a reason that Harrison House is getting wonderful reviews, the hosts; Jo and Ken are passionate about what they are wanting to achieve, which is to deliver an experience that their guests will remember always.

Harrison House is situated in a stunning location, only a ten-minute stroll back to the village of Strahan and even less to the Wilderness Railway station.

Arriving is like visiting old friends both warm and inviting. The room and en-suite are both spacious with all the additional touches you would expect. A comfortable guest lounge room and dining room are also part of the space provided for guest use.

The daily breakfast was beautiful and continued on the 5-star standard that is Harrison House. Fresh fruit salad, a choice of juices, home made bread rolls (yum!) and eggs your way with a variety of sides.

I cannot speak more highly about how fantastic HH is, except to say we came back and we will certainly return again.

We had such a lovely stay at Harrison House. Aside from the convenient location, amazing breakfast including options like pumpkin stack, what you’ll notice are the little touches such as Sukin products and the hair wrap in the bathroom, beautifully decorated room and comfy king size bed. You’ll also receive advice about local attractions, help with bookings and good conversation if wanted. Hard to pass up.

My wife and I spent 2 great nights as guests of Ken and Jo. The rooms (only 3) were extremely comfortable plenty of wine and beer was available to buy at reasonable prices...cheaper than the main pub.
Ken cooks up an excellent breakfast.
If you have not already booked your cruise...book World Heritage Cruises and support the locals.

What a perfect place to stay . Jo and Ken were fabulous hosts providing us with heaps of advice about various things to do as well as making us feel incredibly welcome into their home. The facilities are outstanding. Our room was huge and the bed was very comfortable and very large. We slept like logs. Breakfast was a treat. Fully cooked bacon and eggs with all the trimmings or cereal and yogurt and fruit or all of the above. I can’t recommend this place enough. If you go to Strahan. Stay here.

We loved this place and these folk well before the moment we pulled up. Jo had kindly sent messages to check on our well-being before we arrived ( as it was snowing and we had stayed at Cradle Mountain the previous night). This was an indicator of the level of hospitality Jo and Ken provide.
From the rooms to the roaring fire ( in a totally relaxing lounge), to the most comfy bed EVER, to the beautiful linen and to pillows like NO other EVER…….our 2 night stay was just perfect.
These guys even made a dinner booking for us and even sorted out our World Heritage Cruise on the Gordon River (N.B. the RED Boat). Additional to this, these two cooked us two incredible breakfasts….which you ordered ( from a menu) the night before AND you nominate the time that suits you. There is a fabulous coffee/tea nook to make a cuppa, and thoughtfully there is a fridge to store your local produce and wine for your stay.
These guys were helpful, efficient, fun, knowledgeable and great company. They have three rooms available and I know I will be booking our family in for a stay in the summer. This trip was incredibly memorable, and much of this was because we chose Harrison House.
**Booking a Dinner at Risby Cove is a MUST and don’t forget to buy yourself a piece or Huon Pine from Morrison’s Mill at the end of the cruise. There is also a fabulous local play after all of this this - performed by the locals - The Ship That Never Was! This just tops of an incredible day. You have everything to look forward to!

Jo and Ken are fantastic hosts. The rooms are beautifully decorated along with the communal lounge and dining area. Ken being a carpenter has renovated the rooms with timber detailing to match the heritage home. I felt like I was in a home away from home. Spotless room and bathroom exceptionally clean. Only a short 15 minute stroll into town.
Jo and Ken also served freshly baked bread with a hearty breakfast each morning.

What a wonderful reception from our hosts Jo & Ken. Our rooms were superb and the ambiance was wonderful. We had an early breakfast the following day as we were booked to go on a River Cruise - this was brilliantly cooked by Ken.
Our breakfast the following morning was also outstanding - this time I had scrambled eggs and learnt that Jo had fallen for Ken because of them - ask her to tell you the story!!
Thoroughly recommend this wonderful B&B (and more if you want)

My husband and I recently spent 2 nights with Jo and Ken at the stunning heritage Harrison House. We could not have made a better choice with our accommodation in Strahan. The house has been meticulously renovated to a very high standard and every detail has been thought of from the dining area, coffee nook, guest lounge through to the beautiful room with ensuite with luxury products.

Jo and Ken were fabulous hosts who went above and beyond, even helping us out with some fuel when the petrol station wasn't open in the morning and we needed to be in Queenstown for our booked steam train trip.

The breakfasts were delightful and hearty with the inclusion of fabulous home made bread rolls.

If we could rate Harrison House 10 stars we would. We would highly recommend this to anyone visiting Strahan and would not hesitate to stay again if we were in the area.
