We were 3 adults (1 couple + 1 Single) the cottage only had 1 bedroom with a pullout sofa bed in the main room. Unfortunately that was very poorly sprung and consequently very uncomfortable to sleep on for 3 nights. If a better quality sofa bed was available the ratings would be higher for this property

My partner was quite apprehensive about staying here after reading some of the previous reviews which weren't really positive. We stayed in the one bedroom cottage (at the back of the building) and were pleasantly surprised, the lawn and garden are a little untidy but not a jungle but the blackberry does need to be addressed. The cottage is quite large with a lovely stained glass front door, and the uneven floor in the kitchen is a quirky feature which we quite liked as it poses no trip hazard, The bathroom was clean and large with a lovely big shower there is a step which is another quirk bur posed no problems to us. There are 2 lovely old fireplaces the one in the lounge room works and when we stayed the weather was quite warm and we didn't need to use it, we did notice that there was no wood in the indoor wood box. Providing adequate wood and kindling is something that should be addressed to make visitors stays nicer, particularly if they arrive late and it is cold as Strahan can be. The bed was clean, comfortable and large and the room was quite and dark giving us a great sleep. The cottage is old, it is not posh although it does have all modern conveniences required apart from wifi, we knew this when we went to Strahan and were prepared for no phone internet contact for our stay, which made our stay so much more pleasant and restful. The cottage is well situated away from the main street but still only a short walk to the IGA supermarket, shops and main street. A little bit more attention to detail/ update with furnishings would make the cottage shine. The leaving of the key in the door was not an issue for us, it gave us the freedom to arrive as late as we liked. A comfortable stay.

Very clean and well equipped. We enjoyed the comfort of the wood stove, the convenience of the washing machine and drier, plentiful hot water and all the supplies. There were plenty of ingredients to make for healthy breakfasts and especially liked Margaret's Anzac biscuits.

This is an outstanding property. Margaret has presented a beautiful, clean and well appointed cottage. She's gone the extra mile to ensure your comfort, providing a wonderful welcome pack of food and information. She's always available for help and is a welcoming and cheerful hostess. Thanks for a lovely few days, Margaret

Review for the two-bedroom cottage.

Great, cosy cottage in Strahan. We stayed in mid-June, potentially a cold month, but with electric blankets, heaters and a wood fire with plenty of firewood, we were certainly cosy enough. The cottage is nicely decorated, has a DVD player and TV as well as a well-equipped kitchen. The bedrooms were very nice and comfortable and the bathroom was clean and tidy. Fresh towels and hotel-style toiletries were also provided.

The location is also very good - just a 5 minute walk to the centre of town on the waterfront, and 2 minutes to the IGA store. There is also a small deck outside which we didn't use, but which would be great in the summer.

No complaints at all - and friendly service too. Highly recommended.

The bedroom and bathroom are great. But.... we had to clean every item in the kitchen that we went to use, there were dead flys in the kitchen, bathroom and bedroom, the TV is an old analogue one, not the current digital to get the additional channels, no internet access and we had to defrost the freezer to use it. There are many more B&B's that provide a better experience and are value for money.

We found it very tired and dusty. We know old places can be dusty but we have stayed at many similar cottages in Tasmania on our travels on numerous occasions but never had this problem. We all had the sniffles by the time we left. You class this as 4 Star. The kitchen facilities were not up to standard to cook proper meals, as we wanted to as we did not want to go out every night and enjoy a bottle of nice bottle of wine at home with the fire for an experience. The fry pans should be thrown out and not even enough utensiles to cook with.

One of the dining chairs the upholstery was totally ripped exposing the foam and another starting to rip.

There was no fire lighters or paper to light the fire when we arrived and we had to collect kindling and split wood. We had to go buy fire lighters and scrounge for paper.

The bathroom door would not close even if you tried to bang it closed, so we could only close the best we could - no privacy.

The bathroom walls had insect droppings down the walls so when you were in the shower that is what you saw.

There were cobwebs on the walls and in corners of the ceilings in all rooms.

There was a spot light bulb out in the kitchen and an outside bulb gone too where you had to walk at night to the back door.

There were leaves up to the stairs at the back door. And overgrown bushes everywhere.

Then to top it off. The TV did not work at all no reception. My Partner discovered that the TV aerial was so old so no wonder.

Thanks to the local Manager, who was just lovely and responded to our call and got someone to fix the bathroom door so we had privacy when going to the toilet and shower. Also getting a new TV aerial once that was done the reception of the TV was perfect. It was not poor reception because of the location.

We were not impressed. We feel that you should pay more attention to your property if you want to class this as a 4 Star property that you advertise and we paid was for a 4 Star property. Very expensive for what we got.

Commented to the owner on our return and got not reply at all. That is not good. Will not recommend and will never stay there again.

On arrival we called to express our concerns regarding the service of the cottage (or lack of it), sheets were stained with body fluids, makeup and pubic hair, the shower had not been cleaned footprint stains and hair, toilet not clean flush buttons so soiled I had to clean it. Couch that uncomfortable we had to fold it out just to sit on, still bad. Towels had a terrible stench even when they had been replaced.
When we called we were told, someone else is coming to stay, its double booked I got you a cabin at the caravan park. Another couple were waiting outside the cottage confused and upset as we were. We found out later that it had been double booked 3 weeks prior to our stay with no contact to inform us or the agent we had booked through. We ended up staying as we refused to move out.
The owner lives in Adelaide and showed a lack of concern when we expressed our grievances. She just wanted to make money at other peoples expense and then refused to answer calls by others who were helping us.
Locals at Strahan are fantastic and really helped us out, they have concerns about the cottages and the management of them. Very disappointed and uncomfortable.

Has potential to be great, but as previous tourist's have pointed out dissapointing elements in the accommodation, the work has not been done. TV analog, poor reception, shower head need's replacing due to leaking and no adjustment, electric blanket on one side not working.Hope improvements are made, otherwise they won't be recieving our repeat bussiness.
