Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The current owners appear to be trading off the reviews from the previous owners. This accommodation used to serve breakfast but they do not make it clear on their website that that is no longer the case - in fact the old website showing B n B is still very much active. If you had used Hanlon House previously you would not be aware that things had changed under the new owners. We booked the Beach View King with Spa. $270 per night is not inexpensive. The view looks over garages and cars (presumably the owners cars as the guests have to park on the street). There is a glimpse of water but hardly a view. Unless you are an extremely thin person you will find it difficult to get in to the bed as it is almost against the wall. The bathroom is well appointed with a spa but you will have to put up with the shower dripping all night. There are cups for ones tea but no saucers and no coffee mugs. You will not see the owner at all during your stay.

This was our 3rd stay at Hanlon House. We love staying here while in Stanley, it's close to town, The Nut and Godfrey's beach.which is where the penguins come in. The rooms and beds are so very comfortable. On each stay, we have stayed in 3 different rooms and all of them beautiful.

Hanlon house ticks all the boxes. Lovely setting very clean and wonderfull hosts. I would normally give a place like this a 5 star solid review but unfortunately not this time. I think we just got a bad room. You can listen to the upstairs television and conversation. If you want to live under people walking around then it’s a joy. I’m sure we just got the bad room. Avoid room 5 and I reckon you will thoroughly enjoy!!

Stayed at Hanlon Guest House for 3 nights and really enjoyed it. The upstairs room was beautiful with a lovely view to the beach. Short walk to restaurants, cafes and the nut. The penguin viewing platform just a few minutes away. We can highly recommend Hanlon House.

Having travelled on the C249, which is quite an adventure in itself, there was only the thought of finding a place of respite even though my arrival time at Hanlon House was an hour earlier than the usual check-in time. Katinka, the owner, however, could not have been more welcoming or obliging in allowing me immediate access to my accommodation and having a moment to unwind. Excellent instructions regarding access and accommodation requirements were provided on check-in. Accommodation provided was a Bungalow, separate from the main historical house, allowing for the luxurious feel of being in a home away from home, and right next to the beach. Fabulous scenery right at your doorstep. The beautiful Lockwood style Bungalow provided a very spacious studio style of accommodation with the main room containing a large comfortable bed, table and chairs and a bench to work from. Also had a kitchenette with all the kitchenware you could possibly require, including an Espresso maker. The room also contained an excellent compendium detailing the history of the house and its surrounds. It also contained sound advice on local eateries available. Ensuite was of a good size and continued the wood paneling of the Lockwood construction continuing the very pleasant overall environment of the Bungalow. Contained within was a good shower, toilet and bathroom basin unit. It also had an excellent Wi-Fi connection.

Beautiful comfortable heritage rooms and a warm welcome. Walking distance to Stanley restaurants, the Nut and the beach to see the penguins. This is our second visit and will be our first choice if we ever return to Stanley. Highly recommend this lovely guest house.

We had a lovely comfortable room which is well located to the town and local beaches. Easy and well organised self check in. It shouldn't be described as a B&B though as there is no breakfast service.

We stayed one night as an early surprise for our 30th wedding anniversary, We had the king spa room with a balcony that was beautifully decorated and spotless. Finding somewhere to eat is only a five-minute walk. Highly recommend staying.

We stayed in a lovely self-contained cottage overlooking the nearby bay. It was idyllic. The cottage contained almost everything that we needed for our two days. The only thing missing was laundry facilities, which were in the main house just a few steps away. An outstanding place in a gorgeous setting.

This residence is amazing and so beautiful. I had the upstairs bedroom/ suite Amy Belle. The french doors opened to a balcony with the most impressive views of the beach and surrounds. Matt the host was simply lovely and gave great advice on where to go and where to dine. A++ Bed was very comfortable, room spotlessly clean and so homey. The location is so central to walk to Godfrey beach, The Stanley Nut and different shops. Highly recommend. Perfect for couples and families.
