Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

On Wednesday night we made a huge mistake, we spent the night at the Bayside Hotel. Room was basic but clean, they’re obviously updating. Our room was part of a group around the pool with a roof over, making a wonderful amphitheatre effect. And they provide inflatable balls for patrons enjoyment. We went out for dinner and returned to bed ready to walk the Bay of Fires the next morning. At midnight the Hotel bar closed and “Janelle”, “Tammy”, “Greg” and a couple of other fellows returned. They were full of energy. They thought dodgeball in the pool was a great idea. The acoustics are so good I could hear the cans being opened. Until 3am we were subjected to such delights as “you can’t get fu*king pregnant if you fu*k in a pool” (yes you can Janelle, it’s why you’re a single mum as you stated) and “shut up c*nt” repeatedly (Janelle, Tammy is not your friend from the way she speaks to you). Jokes aside we were scared for our safety, the mood was aggressive and very drunken. There were full length windows next to the bed facing onto the pool. We left first thing in the morning and due to our fatigue took it in turns to drive to Launceston and skip our Bay of Fires tour. Response from management was lacklustre, apparently they’re renting rooms to workers so are doubtless making more money that way.

Great accomodation, the perfect spot to enjoy this Tasmanian jewel St Helens is beautiful with many worth while photo ops, it still amazes me in this day and age why there should be mould in bathrooms the many spray bottles of mould killer on the market should eliminate the unsightly and ominous black stains one sees in bathrooms, this place has almost clean rooms, great views, and if you are not a pedant such as me you will love it. The restaurant/bistro has great affordable meals, definitely worth considering.

The $180 price tag for the half renovated rooms was disappointing. Bathrooms done, but the rest is stuck in the 1970s. Greeted by overwhelming chemical smells and a balcony too small to hold a chair. So much for sitting outside and enjoying the ocean view you pay a premium for. Rooms are noisy for both services in other rooms and vehicles going past. Pub bistro downstairs was ok food wise, but agin the decor was depressing. Spend some money!!

Can't expect too much for a cheaper motel, but I'd be looking elsewhere next time. I had pre paid my booking through a third party website. On check in, wasn't asked for ID nor Credit Card which I thought was quite bizarre. Could have been anyone... Older motel that has been renovated, bathroom was only highlight. Lots of stains on the carpet, bed also quite hard which wouldn't be ideal for longer stays

We stayed one night at the Bayside Hotel. The reception was very helpful and the room very comfortable. We ate at the Bistro which was very nice and again the staff were helpful. The shower was probably the best we had encountered during our travels around Tasmania. I would recommed the Bayside Hotel to anyone staying in St Helens.

Looks can be deceiving. From outside, this hotel wasn't very impressive, but internally it was beautifully refurbished and clean. Good value for money, with it's large rooms and views over the bay, together with helpful friendly staff

Large room with some updates, e.g new bathroom, king size bed and sofa , however some of the decor is a bit tired e.g wardrobe and drawer area. Some rooms have views over the bay which makes up for maybe the dated decor. However it was clean, although one of our rooms had a strong bleach smell. The sliding door to a small balcony was quite stiff and was nor screened so would not like to leave it open. It was much quieter than I feared. There is a bistro but we did not eat there. The staff we very pleasant and welcoming.

Stopped for a meal with friends the tables were sticky the cutlery wrapped in a wet serviette, 3 of us went with crumbed scallops @ $32 ea, 1 creamy garlic prawns @$32, the most basic meals no flavour at all, chips were disgusting and salad consisted of two tiny pieces of tomato lettuce etc, garlic prawns were flavourless in a milky sauce with a blob of rice, crumbed scallops were dry, never again I would buy a pie from the service station before eating that rubbish again

Very old and run down from outside perspective. Foyer needs a complete renovation. Lift not working. Clean and comfortable beds. Clean bathroom. Room smelt old and musty, even though it’s been recently renovated. Sliding door didn’t close properly, which let some rain in. Balcony very old and uninviting. Food not very nice in restaurant. Would go somewhere else to eat.
