Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I rarely go out of my way to write a review but have loved staying at this place so much (and am so surprised to read some of the negative reviews). I travelled with family so we booked two rooms. For a long weekend it was great value (elsewhere in Hobart, Richmond etc was much pricier). One of our rooms got upgraded to a premium so we had the lovely large verandah to enjoy the view and watch the animals and birds go by. The other was one of the smaller standard rooms, which had a smaller balcony with more limited views (but still great value for the price). The fixtures are quality and comfortable. The rooms themselves just have a pod machine and kettle with a selection of teas. The communal kitchenette has a microwave, toaster, kettle and fridge (plus crockery, cutlery, sink etc). You wouldn't be able to cook big meals there, but was absolutely fine for our purposes. We didn't get to try the restaurant - I really don't like eating out with my young kids - so the first night we just got takeaway from nearby Sorrell and the second night we ate picnic style with things we'd gathered during the day (including some of the fruit from the on-site orchard which we were allowed to pick for free). The playground adjacent to the restaurant was so great, my kids just loved it. But the real highlight was hand feeding the animals. You buy a bucket of feed from reception for $5, but it gets a whole lot of stock feed, kept the little ones busy for ages. They fed sheep, alpacas, a horse and pony plus ducks. We also spotted ducklings, chook with chickens, peacocks with babies and turkeys with babies. The first night we were lucky enough to have the whole pod to ourselves. The second night two more of the rooms were let, but we didn't hear them at all (unless you were in the hall very near the other room). I didn't find it an inconvenience to unload the bags then park 50m away - rather it made it feel safer for my kids to ride their bikes around as there was less traffic moving around near the accommodation. Will return again, that's for sure.

This review is not for the accommodation or the restaurant. As a local it is clear this place is just for tourists and I wouldn't stay or eat here. I did however pull over to buy cherries after a bumper growing season this year. Tasmanian cherries are now exported overseas, so the local population no longer get a bite of the cherry. Iron Creek charge nearly double market price for their crop, so this was a great opportunity (missed) to pay double market price for their fruit, and it gets even more expensive when you pick your own.

To start we couldn't find reception despite signs. The room itself one of 3 in a small building. Very dark due to wood panelling & lack of lighting. The TV didn't work & eventually a staff member worked that out. The aircon remote showed Fahrenheit ! Parking a good 100 metres away. There was a single lane one way road out front for dropping off or picking up luggage. The website said the restaurant open Friday & Saturday only. So we were resigned to drive the 4km into Sorell for dinner as it was Thursday, but the restaurant was open so we dined there. Good choices reasonably priced, only us & 3 other groups dining. Overall very disappointing & would not recommend as a 1 night for travellers. Anyone attending a wedding or other function may find it convenient to stay overnight.

Cafe is very average. Actually, below average. And *WAY* over priced. 3 burgers, a chilli prawn taco and a couple of drinks........... $250. Espresso Martini's are $22 each. I'd expect to pay that in some swanky high-end inner city penthouse restaurant, but ............. I suppose they have to raise revenue to pay for all the infrastructure they've put in. The burgers were, well, burgers, with chips. Close to $30 each. They can give them fancy names, but at the end of the day it's a mince patty on a plain bread toll with some cheese and greenery. The Chilli Prawn Tacos were around the $23 mark. 2 tacos. The tortilla's were old / stale, they cracked and broke when folded. The 'chilli prawns'........ Vannamei Prawns with a dusting of chilli powder does not "chilli prawns" make. She who ordered it said it was bland and tasteless, the chipotle mayo was also very mild. The staff, while friendly, were slow. There were only two tables seated in the whole place, and a second $22 Espresso Martini took about 12mins to get out. The only one who had dessert had the cheesecake. Mass produced, and just as bland. She also had a coffee which had a nice flavour, but was lukewarm. We've been past many times, and always wondered. Now we know, and won't bother wondering anymore.

Purchased as a 3 night farm stay using Scoopon. Not sure what to expect but it was amazing. Very comfortable, warm and quiet. Excellent facilities - laundry, gym and common room where there were tea and coffee facilities. Extremely friendly staff. Added joy was feeding the animals. Restaurant was very very good. Highly recommended. Would love to return.

What a lovely place to stay. New and very clean with helpful staff in the reception area. A good supply of fluffy towels, tea/coffee and a small refrigerator in the room itself as well as access to a larger kitchen area containing full size fridge, microwave and toaster. No traffic noise and the underfloor heating was so effective I had to turn it down. I didn't have an issue with the parking which was maybe 50 metres from my accommodation and plentiful.

Had a lovely experience at the Iron Creek Farmstay restaurant last night. Absolutely impeccable service, amazing food, gorgeous atmosphere. Meal sizes are small and fancy, so if you’re visiting with your big mate Bill maybe grab a couple of bowls of chips for the table, I’m glad the Sorell region has somewhere like this that’s a little bit upmarket (Pictured is the octopus & cauliflower, was cooked to perfection)

There is so much wrong in this place. There are signs to reception but where it is located in not clear, just a small sign high over the glass door, not obvious. The numbers on the individual pods are not clear. There is no information compendium. There was no remote for our air conditioner. I rang reception twice but only got an answering machine. When I walked to reception the girl was sitting at the desk & said the phone had not rung. When I asked for the air-con remote she said they were not provided because there is underfloor heating. There was nothing to tell the guests this. However she gave me a remote & we did need to use the air-con because the night was cold & the underfloor heating inadequate. When we tried to turn the TV on we were unable to because it required 2 remotes & we could only find one. We went up to reception (again!) & told them the problem. They sent someone to our room who eventually located the missing remote on the floor behind the bedside table. He got the TV going but 10 minutes later it dropped out, a black screen. We contacted reception again. The person who came eventually got the TV going after phoning someone for instructions. The lighting in the room was inadequate, had to use our phone torch to see inside cases. The car park is distant from the rooms. You are told you have only 5 minutes to unload on the narrow roadway outside the room then drive to the car park. Our room was only supplied with 1 towel & no bath mat for 2 people. An external door outside our room was banging in the wind during the night. An annoying sensor light comes on in the room whenever you move around. The bathroom fan is on a sensor & is activated as soon as you enter the bathroom, annoying if you want to get up quietly in the night. The claim to be a farm stay is pretty tenuous! A few ducks & geese running around and a couple of sheep and an orchard do not make a farm. Look elsewhere.

Loved this place. So quiet and peaceful. Room was meticulously clean and cosy. Lovely fruit platter and bottled water left as a welcoming gesture. Service was exceptional. We had dinner in the restaurant which was delicious and staff were so pleasant. Ambience was tranquil and view was incredulous! We had brekky both mornings of our stay in the Cafe and once again food was amazing and service was brilliant. Young wait staff but so lovely and well mannered. I would highly recommend this place. Beautiful to see animals roaming around too. Thank you for an amazing weekend!
