So loved the quality of the restaurant and food and so loved pool access. A dream getaway holiday. Had booked in for one evening stay and definitely had to stay another. Look forward to getting back.

We traveled during a particularly cold week but found the clean room at Tall Timbers to be extremely warm. Access to the room was easy as all are ground floor with ample parking right outside. All staff from reception, to bar and wait staff were very friendly. The property has easy to follow rules in place to cope with COVID19 with regular cleaning in public areas. We ate in the Kauri Bistro on our first night. Steaks were excellent. The second night we ate in the bar. Bar food was also of a good standard. Would stay at this property again.

The hotel & grounds are beautiful. The cabin we stayed in was self-contained. When I came to check-in this time the lady at the counter was very slow & hard to understand. She gave me 2 keys for the room and said one needed to go in the slot at the light switch which turned out to be incorrect. I asked if we had laundry facilities in our cabin and she said no. I found a washing machine & dryer in our cabin. I also asked her about the Tarkine Drive but she had absolutely no clue. We met up with some friends in the bar one night and there was gentleman working there who was the rudest person ever. I queried a drink he had made me and he was adamant that it was correct and walked off. Tall gentleman with dark hair and solid build, refused to serve me the rest of the evening. I also overheard 2 staff members having a good old gossip session in the foyer. One was the lady behind the counter (braids in hair) and another gentleman (not sure who he was).
I do have to say though that the staff in the restaurant were fantastic. Young lady whose name I believe is Stephanie and the lovely young ladies assisting her were friendly & efficient. They are a credit to Tall Timbers. The cleaning staff also need to be commended and how clean the rooms are - could not fault them. I would have to say the cleanest rooms I have ever stayed in. Food was also amazing and everyone needs to try one of the steaks. I understand why my partner keeps choosing to stay here. I look forward to my next stay.

Really great place to stay while taking in the amazing Tarkine wilderness area. Tours available or easily self explored, the accommodation here is really cosy and comfortable, and the staff go beyond to make sure your needs are catered. If so inclined do not miss the opportunity to sample some exceptionally well priced local Cape Grim steak from the hotel bistro, exceptional.

Stayed in a 2 bedroom self contained unit by the lake. Have stayed in the 1 or 2 bedroom units over 5x in the past 5 years. The view is lovely looking over the lake with ducks and birdlife. It's very quiet yet the bistro and reception are a minutes walk away. Facilities, rooms and grounds are very clean. Housekeeping will clean daily if desired and they even washed our dishes which we did not expect them to do. The Cape Grim steak at the bistro is to die for and although not cheap is well worth the treat. Staff are friendly and helpful and we always stay at Tall Timbers when visiting the area, preferring to stay there and drive to Stanley rather than stay in Stanley. Accommodation caters for all needs including motel rooms and free RV parking area in beautiful grounds.

What a delight it was to read your review. That is the experience I think many of us want when traveling and is why we exist. We look forward to welcoming you again in the future. We have new menus so you can still spoil yourself with a steak from our Cape Grim Grill, but have fresh new options if you want to dine with us more than one night.

We’ve been here a few times since September. The food was solid each time, good flavours and decent serves- great value for money. The steaks were good quality and cooked well. The salmon had great flavours, but was a bit overdone.
The service can get a bit overwhelmed and distracted when busy, and they very much struggle with wine. Both times we had trouble ordering a bottle of wine, they couldn’t find it or brought the wrong one to the table already opened.
We we’re excited by the dessert options but we struggled to get attention to order and by the time we did, they had run out of the two we wanted (which means they’re made fresh). The one we got was a deconstructed pavlova and it was ok, made with creativity and care but not an ideal match of flavours.
We enjoyed the ambiance, options and food here so we will happily come back next time we’re visiting our family.

We stayed here for two nights on 22-23 March 2022 in room 15 which was a Queen room - it actually had both a queen and single bed. Car parking is directly outside the room.

Our room had all the usual conveniences, except no air-conditioning. Thankfully the windows opened to get some fresh air. The only problem with that is that other hotel guests sit outside nearby rooms smoking and cigarette smoke filters through our room. The Wifi is incredibly poor as it kept dropping out in the room. It actually worked better if you stood outside the room door!

We had our evening meals and breakfasts at the restaurant on site. Service was fast as we were the only guests seeming to want to eat at 6pm. Full breakfast was $25 and continental breakfast was $18. The menu and costs for the evening meals are displayed on the website.

Tall Timbers is located just outside of Smithton. You cannot quickly walk into town for supplies so a car is required.

Tall Timbers provides first class accommodation in cabins, set in expansive and well maintained grounds which surround the hotel. A great place if just passing through or if you want to stay longer. A good dining room in the hotel, heated swimming pool, tennis court and gym all add to the attraction.
Our cabin was large, clean, bright and spotlessly clean with all
the toiletries needed, efficient heating and a comfortable bed.
What more could you want?
We would be more than happy to stay there again.

We stayed in an executive apartment for 3 nights and were very impressed by the property and the set up of our apartment. Large rooms, comfortable bed, great shower and everything you need if you want to self cater. Very quiet with a view of the lake from the kitchen area - disappointed that we didn't have one of the rooms with a deck overlooking the lake, but I imagine they would be in demand. Room maintenance was good and staff were friendly and helpful.
Meals in the restaurant were a bit hit and miss.
First night we ordered Cape Grim steak which was a bit tough, another night pizza which was good, the third night fish and chips delivered to our room because we were told the restaurant was booked out even though half the tables were empty.

Initially the accommodation seemed lovely, but when it rained it came in via the bathroom light, on reporting this an attempt to fix it was made which was less than successful and the exact same thing happened the next night. Booked and paid for two bedroom two bathrooms but could only use one bathroom. Not happy with lack of response from reception staff, had little concern that we didn't get what we paid for.

Thank you for your time in placing this review and comments online, as for your concerns with the leaking vent from the Tastic Unit, the night it leaked we had a downpour of rain, and the amount of water cause problems in multiply rooms. I apologize for the issue but with these downpours, my staff can only do their best to fix the issue at the time, which the maintenance department addressed the issue first thing the next morning. As stated I apologize for the inconvenience but nature does give us some issues from time to time to deal with, I hope this will explain our trying issue at that time.
