Our family of 6 stayed for one night but we wished we could have stayed longer! Debbie and Francis were incredibly warm and welcoming during our stay, providing us with free food to feed the alpacas and a bbq kit so we could use the outdoor bbq without having to buy our own supplies. Our units were clean and comfortable, with all the necessary things for self-catering. The location is very good too- close to the town centre as well as nearby attractions like Cradle Mountain.
The only con would be that the walls were a bit thin so sometimes talking and coughing could be heard from adjacent units but overall it was pretty quiet.

Welcoming host, great clean and comfortable room.
We had plenty of room for a family of 5 to stretch out.
The second tv in the kids room was a treat and made for happy kids and happy parents.
Kids loved feeding the alpacas it was great being able to park the car right outside our door. Would defiantly recommend if your looking for somewhere to stay in the area.

Spacious, very clean, away from the main city street, and lots of room for parking. A very friendly man at reception helped us out with tips on things to do in the area and where to eat. Pretty quiet, you can hear some distant noise from the highway but easily drowns out. We were in the end room and our wifi kept dropping out, only complaint.

Such good shower pressure and great milk 👍

This motel is located a little way from the city of Sheffield. I stayed here for two nights. It feels like it was built in a corner of a ranch. It was difficult to walk to the city center because you have to go up a hill, so it was a hassle to have to take a car. The room had a refrigerator, microwave, toaster and tableware, which was convenient for cooking a light meal. The man at the reception was kind. There was WiFi, but it was unstable. However, you could hear the noise from the next room, so the comfort level depends on the person.

Stayed 2 nights. Rooms are generous in size, and quite recent: very clean and in good condition. Host was very friendly, and the grounds/gardens are very pleasant. It is a motel style room and property, but a very pleasant place to stay & relax. Conveniently located on one end of town. I would definitely like to return in the future.

Spacious, clean, welcoming, mini kitchen, alpaca feeding, comfy beds, quiet location. BBQ facilities. Netflix and Stan available on tvs to sign in on. Great starting point for the mural walk. Recommended as a base to explore the area.

PS. The tourist information centre in Sheffield is also very helpful.

We stayed two nights and so glad we did,it is situated within walking distance from the small country town of Sheffield but based on the corner of a working farm. You are free to walk amongst the animals or fish in the lake. Great place for families to stay or just a couple like us. Breakfast is the only meal available but the rooms have small kithen set-up, microwaive etc So you could eat in if that suited you. There is an undercover barbecue area availabe for patrons use too. There are two local supermarkets to buy your provisions. The town features about 50 murals painted around the town and surrounding areas. It is a great place to base yourself whilst discovering the beautiful Cradle Mountain.
We must say that the friendly service and the interesting places just a short drive from there would encourage even the fussiest people. The owners were happy to give directions or suggestions to all the attractions and eating places available and were genuinely anxious to please. We would go there again when we want to do more exploring of Tasmania.

If you want a secluded place, if you want peace and tranquility, if you want excellent, well serviced rooms, if you want a place managed my very nice people, if you want to wake-up to the distant lowing of cattle, if you want Alpacas over the back fence, if you want beautifully kept grounds and gardens and if you want to see the morning mist roll through the fields.....then the Kentish Hills Retreat is definitely the place for you.
Just a short walk or very quick drive from the centre of Town with its collection of Murals and quaint rustic shops and, of course, Mt Roland not too far away, you could not ask for more.
Well may Adam and Eve have had the Garden of Eden, but not even that could hold a candle to this countryside. This truly is Tassie at its finest. So whether you are locals or down here or in Tassie on Holiday call in and stay a while you will be glad you did. We recommend the Kentish Hills Retreat without reservation.

The place is clean and roomy and manageable in a wheelchair with short, steep ramps.

Not my idea of a retreat as it’s positioned on a 4 way intersection and the views face the car park. In comparison to other areas i have stayed in area it’s nothing memorable and for me retreat is not a description it deserves.

Check my next stay for a true retreat.

We had a wonderful stay for a few days.

The studio is spacious with good equiped kitchenware, ceiling vent for heating in the room and ceiling heater light in the bathroom. Besides, the room is able to receive sunshine for the whole day when it's sunny.

The location is just at the edge of a small town Sheffield where you could purchase food at the supermarket which is open until 9pm. A few steps from the supermarket, there's a general store where you could even find Asian ingredients and it remains open on Sunday. The Chinese cooked dishes at the general store for take-away are good (at Chinese standard) too. We tried 茄汁蝦shrimp and 腰果雞丁stir fried chicken dice.

The alpacas could be reached before10:00am when they're locked near the gate. Otherwise, they preferred to stay at the far end under the shadow of another house.

The bedsheets and everything are so clean, too. Special thanks to the cleaning lady.

The only downside is that you could hear your neighbour especially when they're excited.

If there's chance, we would like to come back again.

How many beds does the Deluxe Family Room have?

I'm sorry I can't help you there. We had a room for just my husband and myself. The wifi was awesome and the bed was very comfortable which isn't always the case. The surrounding area is stunning if you like the countryside. There's alpacas in the next field and a great BBQ area. We did a fair bit of driving out of Sheffield and there's such beauty everywhere. The murals all round town are fabulous. Enjoy!
