Detailed Reviews

We sat in a lovely sunny garden enjoying a nice cold beer, so decided to order some pate and toast. The pate with the pear paste was absolutely lovely and could not be faulted, however the toast was so burnt a blind man on a galloping horse would have noticed it. We were amazed that the chef prepared it, the waitress delivered it but apparently didn't notice it was charred black ! We actually ate a bread roll which we had with us to use the pate.

Four of us attended on Easter Sunday for lunch and all had the ‘special’ Roast Lamb.
If not the best roast lamb we have had it’s certainly in the grand final. Slow cooked lamb reminiscent of some of the great Greek restaurants in Sydney.
What a great meal.
Great pub menu at realistic prices.
Very friendly and efficient staff supported by a good bar and wine list.
Highly recommended.

Went Fri night with my partner, place was busy with nice atmosphere, food was delicious.. I would describe as gourmet pub grub as everything was fresh and cooked perfectly. It was so good we returned Sat night and it was again busy but this did not detract from good food and service. The pub has recently changed ownership and the quality of food on offer and atmosphere of the pub and restaurant is well worth a visit. Will definitely visit again if passing by.

Disappointing, it the only word I can think of to explain the Ross pub now. We went about 2-3 years back and it was a great hearty pub meal and this time there was nothing but disappointment. The waitress was very rude and argumentative, not the Ross pub I remember. I understand now why the locals aren’t a fan

Ross pretty much shuts down at 5:00, but this pub carries on a bit longer. The pork cutlet was thick and delicious, and everything else we ordered was also good (especially the lemon curd tart). Bookings are a good idea on the weekend, even in winter.

The service is good cheerful and quick. The portions are ample and are cooked well
We stayed in the caravan park and the table was booked by the park manager
Its pub grub but well done. The area is very quiet especially in the evenings
A good place to stay whilst travelling doen from the north to Hobart.

The Ross Hotel is a great little pub in a historic town! The meals are are of a high quality and the menu is quite extensive. I had the rump steak and my friend had the seafood chowder - both were delicious. The staff are friendly and welcoming.

Stopped into the Ross hotel for dinner on our way home from the NW to Hobart.
Pleasantly surprised by what followed.
We both ordered the salmon and it was fantastic.
A new owner who can actually create an interesting and yummy dish

The Ross Hotel is under new management and so far everything is great. We had lunch and dinner several times there and the food was fantastic and the service amazing. They have redone the menu and included lots of pub favourites as well as some new dishes. Great chef and staff. Will be back!

Cheryle and I found the same when we visited in mid December 2015. Breakfast could also be taken here.
