The Motel Staff communicated well, were friendly, and went the extra mile. Bedding was crisp and comfortable. Information about the area was abundant and well presented. Very nicely furnished. Heat pumps were on when we arrived, but found we needed to turn them up to 'Strong' mode, and then the rooms heated very quickly and we could turn them down again. Electric blankets on all beds. Very clean. Conveniently close to the highway between Hobart and Launceston, and not too far from roads Eastward and Westward. Adequate shops nearby, and we're looking forward to having breakfast at a local bakery in this beautiful historic town. Only disappointment was that cooking facilities was limited to kettle, microwave, fridge, crockery and cutlery. In most situations, this is enough to make do, and it didn't detract from our stay, we just thought there would be a kitchen. I also thought there would be a living room of sorts (or separate kitchen). With 2 very spacious bedrooms, one including table and chairs, and the other a large desk area, this was no problem at all but if I had an active young child I might want more space, or I might be happy to make do. Young children are clearly catered for here with plastic bowls etc and a very small chair. Parking is just a couple meters from the front door, with mostly level ground, concrete path. Nice chairs out front.

Staff offered to book us in for a meal at Campbelltown Hotel, less than 10 minutes up the road. The service there was better than we've seen for a long time. The food was also exceptional, and my young folk really enjoyed themselves. We paid just over $100 for reduced portion mains each, a drink each and dessert each.

For a stopover to avoid finishing our trip home tired in the dark, we were well blessed by staying here. Thanks guys!

The motel, being away from the Midland Highway, is very quiet and is in a nice location beside the river. The room was quite small but very well set out, with an entrance lobby with bench for luggage, fridge, microwave and cooking/eating utensils; then the bathroom and bedroom areas both off that. All areas of the room were exceptionally clean. Bedroom area had two chairs (comfortable), table, and the bed was very also comfortable. There was no clock which would be a welcome addition. The sound-proofing between rooms was excellent.
Parking is free and at the door, breakfast ingredients were provided. Reception was friendly and helpful with local advice.
Ross is a small village and is quite lovely, so the motel is well situated to allow easy walking access to the bridge, the main street, food outlets and all the other sights.
Would certainly recommend to anyone who wanted to stay in Ross, or as a base to explore the midlands.

This out of the way motel gives a "Wow" factor when you open the door to your unit! A gorgeous room and historical setting to fit in with the rest of the town is a 'must stay' when visiting the beautiful town of Ross. Not only is the room comfy in every way but the staff are friendly and most accommodating.

Only stayed one night in Ross on our way to Devonport. The motel is suited across the street from the Macquarie River which is a peaceful spot to sit and watch the ducks. The room was very clean and well presented and there was a basic breakfast pack provided which was all you needed if you are after a quick and easy breakfast. Our bed was very comfy.

The cottages are set up in a mini village next too the Macquarie River. Swans were coasting along, and the evening sunsets amazing. It may have been cold outside overnight, but the cottages are super warm with great (silent) heating, hot showers and a bed with sheets that when you get in feels like a big warm hug enveloping you. I stayed with 4 other colleagues and we all make comment on the immaculate cleanliness, and care taken in keeping the property at a high standard. Just gorgeous Ross Hotel, we will be back.

Had as stay at The Ross Motel on the 17/2 had driven approx 3 and half hours from Stanley we arrived in Ross approx 12:30pm and went to the Motel to see if it was possible to check in early the sign on the corner of Church Street and High Street said the the Motel was open and the hours were 9:00am to 6:00pm when we arrived at the motel the Reception area was closed and a notice was there advising people of a phone number to call so I call the number and spoke with a lady saying that we had arrived and we were there to see if we could book in she said booking in was at 2:00pm and couldn't we go into town and have some lunch which we did. We then arrived back at the Motel approx 1:50pm the garage to the main house was opened a gentleman saw us pull in to the Motel I got out off the car to go into the Reception and again the door was locked the gentleman never engaged with us at all so we left again and returned again at 2:00pm this time the reception was opened and I went in to check in. The woman I engaged with told me what room we were in and about the continental breakfast. I had to attend the office again later as there internet was not working she made a call and spoke to a Wayne about it for a few minutes and when she hung up she said that there were 11 people using the internet and didn't have a problem she then gave me the phone number to call again if we still had problem. We still could not connect to the internet so I rand and spoke with David, he asked us to do a few think but this did not work so I call him again and he thought I was the person from the Motel and said it just needed to be rebooted and as I was explaining to Wayne that I was not the person
who runs the Motel the internet was rebooted by someone and we had no problems from there on until we went to check out this morning again the sign was on the door with the phone number so we just left the key in the room.
These people are trying to sell this property and they advertise that the reception area is open from 9:00am to 6:00pm I found them to be very rude. The accommodation and facilities are excellent and I would recommend to my family and friends but the rude of the people that are currently running it makes me think twice about recommend it.

Background: We decided to take a holiday in the NW of Tasmania from Hobart. We have a one year old and a four year old, and thought that the best time to leave would be in the evening, at their bedtime, so that the 4 hour drive would go smoothly as they slept.

Big mistake: our one year old was very, very unhappy to be taken out of his routine, and cried and cried and cried. We drove for two hours with frequent stops to give him a cuddle, and eventually saw the accommodation signs pointing to Ross. We decided to change our plans and stop at the motel, which had signs to it everywhere.

We arrived at the front of the reception at 10.20pm only to find that reception had closed a few hours earlier. There was a telephone number though, and in desperation, my husband called. There was no answer the first time he rang, so tried a second. No answer, so we decided to give our son another cuddle while we were parked there. While that was happening, the motel rang us back. We missed it, as we were dealing with our son, but received their second call.

Now, let me say, the woman that my husband spoke to made Basil Faulty seem friendly. She told him off for calling at 10.30 at night, and after he apologised, she asked how many we were, and offered us two single rooms, all the while huffing about the time, and how she'd have to change out of her pyjamas. We declined, as she was so rude, and we decided to drive through the night, stopping as needed to tend to our son, instead of actually having to meet this horrible woman.

I'm pretty sure that the point of motels is that they are available to the weary traveller who needs a break from their journey. Apparently the woman that we spoke to has not received this memo about her industry.

The motel is set out like a tiny village with lovely well kept gardens. You can park right outside your door and the parking spaces are generous.
Within easy walking distance to the main street of Ross and across the road from the Macquarie River and the iconic Ross Bridge.
The hosts Peter and Helen are helpful and friendly and with a forward thinking attitude to make welcome your fur babies as well...........I know right !!
The units are quiet, clean, comfortable and spacious with everything you could need to for a great stay. Warm and toasty too. Microwave, toaster, kettle, cutlery, crockery, glassware and a mini fridge. A lovely continental breakfast basket is left in your fridge - very convenient. Bright, clean, spacious bathroom with towels.
Really wonderful place to stay. I'll be back.

We have just spent two nights in Ross while we explored the outer regions of the area and I have to say this is a great motel to make a base. There is much to see in the township itself, and the wider area is brilliant. Do yourself a favour and book into the local pub for a very hearty and enjoyable meal. But back to the Motel, clean, peaceful and totally worth the visit. I recommend it 100%....and take a look. That means something.

Beautifully appointed small motel, lovely well kept gardens, comfortable bed, friendly owner and staff. Very quiet and a gorgeous Riverview. Special touch with the toiletries which were not the usual cheap motel toiletries. Not to mention the resident chickens who were very cute.
